Well said. Im in my early 20s I feel a lot of pressure to work ‘full time’ and get a mortgage and live this traditional life but I know that this just isn’t the way I want to live. I want a life that I can live to the full and not just working to pay massive amounts every month and have no money to show for it and no time to go out and enjoy life. Simplicity is the best way to be able to enjoy life ☮️

Get yourself a van you can live in and instead of paying huge sums in rent, spend it on living your life. You've got another 40 years to prepare for the remaining 20 years so save half now what you want then and you will have enough, this is easier if you dont go giving it to a bank or a landlord. I'm sure many of us would if we could have our 20's again. Good luck.

Immy I’m 26 from uk and feel exactly the same as you do… I’ve seen my mum follow this traditional path and struggle like hell, most people that follow this path are absolutely miserable. I don’t want a fancy career that takes up all my time and I don’t want a property with no end of bills, I want to live a simple life, I refuse to follow their footsteps!

Never a true word be said ........... Been full-time van dwelling for over 10 years, had the house , money coming out of my ears but in the end all it gave me was stress, anxiety and eventually panic attacks with running my own business , house bringing up kids etc , the ex done me a favor in the end.
She kept the house mortgage free and I bought my dream motorhome an a class carthago e class and traveled around Europe for 4 years , came back realized my rig was to Big for the UK , so downsized ..... Now I'm now in a sprinter.
The only bills are my workshop rental, fuel , food, insurance and tax .
I will never go back to the work to pay bills I will live in a tent before I put myself through that stress again.

Mark you read my mind as usual... 100% agree. I used to be in the top 1% of earners living off passive rental income in my own detached home surrounded by trees. I had stability, happiness, and the basics paid for me- food, water, bills, without the grind of work. But after losing all of that (victim of crime), I’m now struggling at the bottom 1%. I can say with certainty: the top 10% do get stability, happiness, and health but it's all at the expense of the bottom 90%. It’s wrong.
For most people vanlife is the only affordable escape.. unless you're wealthy or have unique opportunity. It's unnatural. The sustainable way humans thrived for generations was for to support parents as they aged. Now people can’t even afford kids. I’m in mid-40s with no kids, never had the opportunity. Society made that choice for me.
Women nowadays are taught to prioritise career & only interested in ‘model looks’ men or millionaires. This system forces many men like myself into isolation not by choice... It’s a tragedy, and it’s by design. I have no idea what I'll do for income when I "retire".

I had opportunities to buy property but I'm glad I didn't tie that noose around my neck for 30-40 years. At 15 I knew I needed to get out and see the world and that's what I did with the money I earned as a tradesperson.
All my money was spent in escapism from work and the matrix and I don't regret it. It was the best education and experiences I could have given myself.
Travel opens you up and expands you so much so that when you revisit old friends decades later, you realise they are still stuck in the same mindset, immaturity and ignorance as when you left them and it's not possible to go back there. Sad but true.
My advice is the same as yours - find a way, a lifestyle that suits you.

Very good advice Mark. You've got something many people have not got. You've got to know the real you, the real deep down you, not the you that life pushes around like a puppet, but the real you. I've only just wrote on another channel where the old guy has lost everything to a partner at 76 that I'd rather go out of this world with a smile on my face and if that means I will go out penniless then so be it.

Mark you're gonna have to stop telling folk just how good van life is, if you don't the roads & park-ups are gonna be full to capacity by those who have realised, I thought about van life 20 odd years ago & it's just now at 57 that I'm seriously looking for a suitable vehicle, my plan is to at 1st keep working as I am just the van will replace my rented house, a house that will never be mine, I fell into that trap, this worm is turning. Seems sad if you think in 40 years you have achieved nothing, and van life is the best life you can have. I'm sure you have many things you are proud to have done Mark.
Learnt early in school that if you don't fit nobody will care. Haha
When I was 17 at my first job, I had a day off virtually every week to do other things, until the boss called me in the office and thought I should take my job more serious, expect me to knuckle down and work hard, I just walked out.
worked occasionally over the years doing various things, traveled to countries,
Never been tied to a money orientated lifestyle.
Many of my friends never made it to 60, so
Do what you want to do, just be happy.
Don't chase money, fame, and don't have regrets.

I’m 28 and I find it’s so hard living in a house flat I don’t like that thought of being there every day like you said come back to the same place the same view houses I have lived in. I literally destroy because I I don’t know if it’s OCD, but I constantly have to move furniture around knock walls down then put them back up again well I don’t do it but luckily I’ve got somebody who does that, but I’m mean it’s that bad to knock a brick wall down and then want the brick wall put back up again so I cannot wait to start my life and I don’t wanna waste any of it because time is the most precious thing so if I was 28 now, so if I was 17 again, I would still say to myself you don’t have to do what everyone has done before you i.e. whoever looked after you whether you’re in care adopted everyone gets a house flat then you’re told it’s better not to rent because you’re just making that person rich so get a mortgage and eventually you’ll sell it after 25 years and then make us have some money but then if your house not grey and when 25 years go by what are you gonna do? I didn’t have the money in my pocket now so that’s the advice I would give more already. I’ve just repeated what you said so yes I would give the advice that you gave. I really do hope you can understand my messages. You’re mad Mark. I’m bonkers Bella LOL.😂

I used to work in a care home with people 80/90?that wished they lived more had adventures and created happier memories. They live with the regret every day that they gave their whole lives working to pay a mortgage and just to end up in care home.
Your doing this now and if you focus on you health and fitness you can be even stronger in the years to come.

Thing is, with our lifes experiences behind us we know the pitfalls and traps. We discovered the wisdom available by living the experience's and working out what wont do. At 66 after a life of topsy turvy turmoil I've found my peace. It's a great place to be. And the young one's? They need to live life by their own decisions and become who they need to be. 💚🌏💚🇳🇿

Mark, it is so so true about one day you're 17, u turn around and you're decades older!
Father Time stops nor slows down for no one!!!!!!
We all waste our lives don't we, it's sad!!!
We get swayed/brain washed, but everyone when we're young, brought up to believe this or that, led to believe we can't do exactly what we want to do, gotta pay the ones who rule us, the ones who don't help us do shite, as far as out work, but the MF's still want your money, it's nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, absolute nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol
Matrix/Hamster Wheel, so right about that too!!!!
I can only imagine how free u feel now that you finally said, eff it, I'm going to do exactly what I want to do, when I want to do it, how I want to do it, on my own terms, not the effing crooked govt. why try and keep us under their thumbs!
    Love your channel Mark!
My advice to younger kids, would be to save every penny that u can so when u get to be older, u can do whatever the eff u want too and no one, no one, can tell u, no, u can't do that!!!!
Take care, be safe, and above all, do it your way and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!
    Tell Sally hey!!!!!

Looking at forty years in front of you , you think that's a life time but looking back at forty years it flies. Life's to short so it's very good advice to not spend the best 40 years working. I say it the best forty because you have youth ,health on your side. First forty is easy the second won't be .because your health declines you'll know if your that age what iam on about.

My advice would be work hard save hard and whack as much as you can into a pension.
Live cheap along the way and escape the rat race as quickly as possible.
Don’t count time in years. Count it in summers. How many summers do you want to enjoy life.

Consuming - too many people measure their success and achievements in life by how many showy 'things' they own. Luxury cars will be someone else's old banger one day, and someone else will live in the big house they grafted to pay for, we all leave the same way, and can't take the 'things' with us.

Wouldn't have got married to the soul sucking ex and wouldn't have had kids... I'd have gone to some country where you could buy some forrest land, built a cabin and gone all Grissly Adams lifestyle... Totally off grid and out the Matrix... Now that would have been the finest...

Hi Mark, I couldn't agree more with you. I'm 57 now. 3 months ago I made the decision to get rid of everything and buy a van. I gave myself 6 months until the end of March 2025 to move out and have a van to travel in. 3 months to go and I'm well on the way, sold/gave things away. Sold my 2015 Ford Tourneo micro camper which I spent the last 3 years or so travelling around Scotland in (part time). Now looking for a van and getting ready for the next adventure over the coming months. I need to do this while I can. I enjoy your inspirational videos. Cheers! 🙂👍☠

Strangely enough,, 40 years ago if I could go back,, instead of making my mark on the black market,, I would go back and made a business of building,,, I was caravannlifing back then.. collecting washing machines and lead pipes for scrap.. But I could have made a lot of money in hindsight,, so that what I would have done ifni could,, make as much money as possible being self employed and when you've got enough fk off out the uk ASAP... Then buy a van and a bit of land... or boat...

The advice I would give is that they have to question their schooling and education early on. We are indoctinated and brainwashed from there. The teenage years are so fragile and precious. if it goes wrong there, you're always playing catch up. Two days into my first job selling print to businesses on the knocker and I wept as I walked over a bridge in my suit and tie. Failed my exams and ended up doing work that I had no passion for. You are a kid at 10 and an adult at 20! How can you be expected to decide on your future in those ten years?

You know what Mark, I never ever wanted to get a mortgage and i knew that from a very young age, i never wanted to spend all my days working etc... i just didn't want it. I spemt a lot of time on the dole and you know what it was alright, me and my mates would get our giros and go off to London or wherever... we just didn't care,. I did have depression since childhood maybe that had something to do with it, but thats how it was anyway, i just wanted to enjoy my life rather than chase the $$$$
