Train 565 Departs Castlecliff Bound For Wellington

Wellington is New Zealand's capital city and its port is Whanganui's freight link with the outside world.

Hi. I understand that the deckspace of each of the 32 wagons is pre-paid by Port Of Wellington. ( Im happy for someone to correct me) The wagons are shedualled to run whether they loaded or not. It is Port Of Wellington's tenticle reaching into Whanganui's industrial hub. In the peak of the dairy season during Spring/early summer, trains can be observed with each wagon fully laden. Sat & Sun trains can run at that time as well. KiwiRail does well when it is in a partnership like this: as opposed to 'competing with trucks' which is old thinking
