      Dawson Wise You must be joking. Maybe the pitch at Puig wasn't intentional, but it missed in a bad spot (his face). Greinke put one in his back. THAT'S THE END OF IT. Kennedy went way overboard, and any reasonable person can see that.

    • @awdswimmer2
      @awdswimmer2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I agree, throwing at a batter's head is always uncalled for. But I've long been of the opinion that if you're going to retaliate against anyone for a hit batsman, you should bean the guy who actually hit your player. Not only do you get the point across that you're not going to stand for your guys being drilled, but it sends the message that you are blaming the person actually at fault instead of the whole team. Kennedy had a wild pitch to Puig to start it off (not totally unlike him), but Greinke knew exactly what he was doing when he almost threw behind the batter. That was totally intentional and I have no problem with Kennedy deciding to throw at him for that. Just not to the head, that's going too far.

    I have to give MLB some credit for posting this video. Even though MLB has often been behind the times, they understand that this brawl was a rare occurrence by MLB standards, and there's no need to hide it from the public view, especially since the most hardcore baseball fans want to see it. Compare that to the NBA, which won't post any brawl videos, and went out of its way to have the user-uploader videos deleted from TH-cam.

  • @FoF1212
    @FoF1212 11 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    It's unbelievable how wrong the Diamondbacks were in this whole thing. Puig gets hit in the face. Fine. I don't think anyone thought it was intentional, but that doesn't mean you can't retaliate to say, "Hey, don't be wild up and in again!" And it was a fine retaliation. It wasn't up and in, it was right in the back. At this point, it's even (and the D-Backs were dumb to start anything there). Hitting Greinke in the head?! It's shocking how far over the line that was, especially after everything was just evened up. The D-Backs caused this entire thing.

    • @JTDutch
      @JTDutch 11 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ... Actually, the Dodgers started it by intentionally hitting Montero. Puig getting hit was an accident. There's no need to "avenge" an accident. It's not like Puig was seriously hurt; he stayed in the game.
      But once Montero was hit on purpose, the D-Backs rightfully nailed Greinke on purpose. The Dodgers reaped what they had sown, if you ask me.
      And, I'm saying this as a longtime Dodger fan who knows "the Code" and all of that other garbage.

    • @phoneAntics
      @phoneAntics 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      J.T. Dutch i don't care how old your post is, you're wrong so I'm telling you about it. It's frowned upon by your teammates to not retaliate in that situation. They hit your star in the face, as a pitcher it's a silent obligation to respond. Standard decorum in baseball... There's absolutely no reason for the Dbacks to be upset, they brought that on themselves, and SINCE WHEN is getting hit on the back so terrible that it warrants getting hit in the face... Is Kennedy trying to kill somebody? What a goddamn lunatic.

    • @JTDutch
      @JTDutch 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When puig was hit, it seems like it was meant to be a brushback pitch or just a inside pitch that got away. However, puig was on a tear hitting wise. Greinke defends his rookie and Kennedy hits Greinke and gets labeled as head hunting. Its one thing to hit a guy intentionally, its another thing to almost end his career. And Gibson was always known as a rambler anyway.

    I played baseball ⚾️and this has got to stop. Has the commissioner ever consider establishing a rule that strictly prohibits all players from clearing the bench. There is no need to do that. I suggest only the parties involved out in the field when there is a brawl and managers. If a player clears the bench then he should be punished with a hefty fine or barred from playing a few games. This is ridiculous.

    They just need to start handing out serious suspensions in all sports anytime any player leaves the bench or initiates an altercation. And for guys that actually throw punches or throw people around they need to stop exempting athletes from the law and file criminal battery charges.
    All this nonsense is so stupid and would not be tolerated in any other venue.

    So glad we got rid of Ian. However, both pitchers on both sides were being tools in this game. As a Dbacks fan, I'm sorry for what Ian did. All of us in AZ had a party when we let him go. And yes, this is coming from a guy who doesn't like Puig. lol

      tryfe10 Hey, lets be present with the moment today. What happened in Australia? 1 loss, no, 2 losses to the Dodgers? The Ozzies may not know baseball but they can assume the D-Backs suck. So how many titles has your team won. 1, 2 maybe? Last I checked 5 is more than 1 or 2. Eric M should get in on this special needs learning session I'm giving you.
