Resident Evil for the Saturn is also my favorite version of it as well.
    1) It had the exclusive 2 player battle mode
    2) It had an exclusive zombified Wesker and Gold Tyrant in the battle mode
    3) It had the exclusive new monster called Ticks on the main game
    4) 2 exclusive suits for Chris and Jill
    5) There was another Tyrant battle after you defeat the 1st one in Chris's playthrough
Interesting also was that while Capcom both published and developed the PS1 version, Capcom had only published the Saturn version as it was developer Nextech (who specializes in ports) that made it for the Saturn.

Vectorman for the Saturn would have been amazing as well as an official Streets of Rage 4.
Cool you actually know of Sathanas, my brothers in the band lol He's the Drummer

I got a Sega Saturn when it first came out, yes I'm 29, and the one game I always wanted but never got was Nights & after all these years of still wanting it, it was released on PSN & I have to say that the LONG wait to play that game was worth it!!
Btw, I still have & play my Saturn. One of the best consoles ever, in my humble opinion.

BUG! was an awesome game to play when i was younger. I really enjoyed beating that game. Sega Saturn is one of the best GAMING systems ever made! They can keep their blu-ray player, I want good games!

Thanks for the vid! Ive been on a big retro kick lately picking up a lot of classic systems and games from my childhood. I never was able to really enjoy a lot of what Saturn had to offer, but recently got a good deal on a good quality model 1 system and some games. Now its time to find others to add with em! :D

Sega Saturn will always be one of my favorite systems just for the fact that Capcom brought some great games to the system. Its a shame my Saturn broke several years ago

  • @SNKNostalgia
    @SNKNostalgia 12 ปีที่แล้ว

Thought I would mention this IMPORTANT info:
Marvel Super Heroes US/JP versions have the option to use the 1MB ram cart that was used for SNK fighting games in Japan. You can use any 1MB or 4MB capable ram cart and there will be a extra ram selection in the options menu. You get more frames which matches the animation of the arcade game... but it slows the speed of the game down. So turn the speed all the way up and the game will play at the normal game speed at best.

You actually own (and like) most of the same Saturn games I do, though you own way more. And yes, Bug and Toshinden suck, haha. They are blights in my Saturn collection. Awesome videos! This made me really nostalgic and I need to start playing my Saturn again.

deep down I wish Sega had been able to remain in the hardware race at microsoft's expense. They made beautiful music with capcom during the saturn/dreamcast days

    • @Eggscramblercomms
      @Eggscramblercomms 11 ปีที่แล้ว

But don't you want to spend $50 on the latest 2K, Madden, and CoD, regardless of the fact that you know for a fact that said $50 is going down the shitter because there's just going to be a new one the next year I mean it's basketball and football so it's not like the only possible difference between the $50 you just spent and the $50 you're going to spend is in graphics and new guns alone besides that would be totally worth it rightrightright it's also not like one could turn on a TV and watch the SAME GODDAMN THING for free.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? You don't? You think that story, music, character development, and general whimsy make a good game? You'reafuckinggayassnerdididyourmom.

I dunno how I got onto your video but you've got a pretty neat Saturn collection. I've been collecting PAL Saturn for years but I've had to stop 'cause of how expensive these games are over here. Right on with most of your opinions on these games dude but seriously; Cyber Speedway and Crime Wave are a big plate of bollocks.

I've bought my first Sega Saturn MK1 today!!! Yuppie!!! With VF2 and two controllers! paid 70$ for it ;-( (this console wasn't and isn't very popular in Poland - that is why the price is high). Anyway, great collection of brilliant games, Alpha!!! Congrats!!!

Use rubbing alcohol and a Qtip to clean the lens on your sega saturn guns. It may help you restore their playability. Use a standard tv from the 90s. I bought a gun for Saturn and it works great

Did you know that Shining Force 3's story was suppose to be spread across three different scenarios, effectively making you have to buy three different games to get the whole story? The only reason why the US and UK version of Shining Force 3 gave you any sense of closure was cause they changed the ending and hoped we wouldn't find out. People are still working hard as hell to make a translation patch for all three games so we can at least have it all in english on emulators.

I got to play the arcade version in Salt Lake at a Nickel Arcade that has dual sticks to play the game with. HOLY FRIGGIN CRAP! Great to see someone showing love for the Saturn. However, I think your videos would be helped tremendously by including in-game footage from each title that you mention. Further, you're not saying very much about any of the games on your list, just that you like them a lot. No need to do a full review, but you should think of three points or so to cover for each game, to help explain why you like each one and what helps make it stand out from the crowd.

you should get a hold of it when you can, the little 3d hub world is a bunch of fun, i had a blast with it. plus they have little missions you can do in it too so its not just for the hell of it and running around. depressing cause it would have been even more awesome to see sega make an entire sonic game for the saturn back then. honestly i think that would have helped it sell alot more outside of japan. kinda like how it did for the genesis/mega drive

yeah the sales pretty much were crap everywhere cept japan, which is also the reason why they had a slew of kick ass games and the import market boomed so much for that system, still does ironically since the saturn had many exclusives and on top of that some of the most perfect arcade conversions back in the day.

@kyuss015 Hell man the import scene for the Saturn is most definitely amazing but the U.S. selection is genuinely nice. Overlooked by many sadly because of the offerings on PS1 and N64, but still worth checking out. Many exclusive classics too which makes it worth noting alone

  • @fireheartis1

the exclusive monster shows up in one part of the game, so its pretty easy to miss since it shows up once and thats pretty much that. bummed me out cause i thought it wouldve been cool to see it show up in place of some zombies later on when you come back and theres hunters everywhere.
As for it showing up in deadly silence. that i dont believe so cause i played through it twice now and never saw it

I had Virtual On, Sonic Jam is my all time favorite pseudo game....Besides playing Sonic 3 + Knuckles (my actual all-time favorite game), i spent so much time watching the videos in the 3D world's museums, and listening to the music, and looking at the pictures....the Sonic series has the best music for me, hands down.
Had Sonic R (meh), had Shining the Holy Ark.....only Shining Force series game I ever actually played, but I never beat it because I got hopelessly stuck in that one Forest Mansion...
Sonic 3D Blast is a forgettable game, but that soundtrack, i've grown to love it as like the best game soundtrack ever for me; Volcano Valley (both acts) has become a top favorite vgmusic theme for me.
NiGHTS....ugh, one of the best gaming experiences for me. I loved seeing it in action at Toys R Us and i loved playing it (even had Christmas NiGHTS). the controller they released for NiGHTS is my favorite ever cuz it was so comfortable in my hands.
I wish they'd bring back Psylocke for the fighting games...she would've been cool in UMVC3.
had Galaxy Fight. it was meh. I do have Rolf and Roomi on my MUGEN roster though.

Resident Evil cover is MUCH better for SS. That zombie is a still shot of that first scene when Jill separates from Barry and hit that Zombie chowing down then it looks over his shoulder. Also, gotta love the real FMV actors and actresses. I have Biohazard and the opening scene is BRUTAL. Our version was edited.

As a fellow Saturn fan, this is a pretty good (part 1 of your) collection. I must say, though, that I think Shining in the Holy Ark is just as good as Shining Force III, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Tekken better than VF? I can't agree there, but different people like completely different styles of fighters. But 2D fighters were definitely better on the Saturn, it's controller is the best fighter pad of all time.

I always heard that many Sega consoles were successful in Brazil? In fact I heard that it took the Megadrive / Genesis a while to take off as people were still into the Master System? I might be completely wrong here.
All three are quality. Will never, ever sell them no matter how bad things get!

Cyber Speedway was actually released a few months before Wipeout. It's not a clone. It does have a very similar feel, but it came out first.
(Also, it's a spiritual sequel to a PC racing game from a few years earlier with a very similar style, CyberRace.)
Also, I love Bug. It's from mid 1995, and is one of the first ever 3d platformers. Jumping Flash predates it, but not much else. It's sort of 2d, sort of 3d, but very interesting and original (still unique!). It's way too hard, but good.

The Saturn was a powerful system, more so than the Playstation 1. It had dual RISC processors at 32 bit and CD quality 32 channel sound processor. Saturn also could read instructions faster, quadrilateral rendering, RAM expansion (psx lacked) It was a bitch to program for mainly due to it's development tools and it being too advanced for what was needed at that time for gaming, a bit too premature for some developers liking. Shame really had some awesome games, burning rangers is my fav still!

Saturn also had the best 2-D engine of the 3 big systems that was out at the time. If you put it next to the PS1 2-d fighting games, Saturn was noticeable superior. Some good examples would be the Saturn imports of Thunder Force V and Hyper Duel. The import Saturn also had the 4 meg expansion card. There were so many awesome ones that never came out over here like Groove on Fight. Like the later Fatal Fury games, the KOF series, Wakuwaku 7 etc.

Depends what you enjoy from a game. Search roms and check reviews on game sites.
I always like unique games that weren't found anywhere and never replicated.
Crusader: No Remorse, Alien Trilogy, D, Loaded, Blast Chamber. Most other games I enjoyed were cross-platform and died down for me after the 4th part. Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Gex.
And on your YT icon, if you have Dreamcast - definitely check out Armada. I found it online but it won't load for me.

yeah back around 1996-97, in Japan, Saturn had like %60 of the market while Nintendo in Japan at that time had like %5 of the market...and then there was the Pokemon explosion.
many people say that if not for Pokemon, There probably would not even been Nintendo anymore..or at least not anything near as big as it is now. A few weeks after N64 came out in Japan, everyone was wanting to take it back. After the newness died out, they were losing out in the console war at that time

Do you own shinobi for the saturn? I love that game, its amazing. Also total destruction is great too. It's nice to see somebody praise the saturn, back in 96, I had a choice, the saturn, or the playstation. Needless to say, street fighter alpha brought me to the saturn. Now we just need a Street Fighter Alphaomega sin. YOur special move would be ranting CapCom haha

  • @runemusician9154

I agree that most of the time, Saturn did better than PS1 at 2D fighters. However, in my opinion, Marvel Super Heroes was one exception. The Saturn one had huge slowdown. True, it may have had more frames of animation, but that is not worth the huge slowdown.

it does suck that they cost so much now due to their rarity and then on top of that many people didn't take care of them so that dwindles the numbers down even further. i really just wish they could find a way to start releasing them on xbla and psn but apparently sega doesnt have any of the coding to emulate them. dunno how you just lose that kinda stuff, sucks pretty bad

love the collection! I'm noticing how fast my cash is burning on every Saturn game. Any useful hints??? first thing I did was buy to consoles a NA and Japan and now have 8 NA games and 7 Japan games.
