- Welcome to Enshrouded! Today I'll show you how to build a steep / pointy roof! This type of roof design looks nice if you want to build an A-frame or medieval style house!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! Can't wait to build some more houses in the future using this method :)
And I can’t wait to try this method in my Blue Goblet Inn Village area :)
hey @Chiselchip i like all your buildings very much and like it to build them in my world.^^ this little houses in the medival style are very beautifull. can you do an how to build video for the full house and not just the roof? ;) i would love it.
From a thematic point of view, this style roof will fit perfectly in the snow biome.
Would using a double layer of the tile roof close that gap?. Just a thought.
@@slate613Yah you could probably do something like that, but it would look better if the roof was larger
Thank you for introducing me to this game, I'm pleased about the algorithm.
The building with Fee was amazing, but then I saw the Cozy Hobbit building. It was another level.
Thank you again, your builds are so satisfying to watch.
Thanks! Glad your enjoying the content! Definitely a great game!
Hey man I was watching your video about that house on top of a rock/spire last night it was pretty relaxing when I was stressed out, thanks
Thanks! Glad it was relaxing and fun to watch :)
I really enjoy your videos. I’ve been watching along to your gamethrough as I’ve been going through the game and it’s been really great seeing another pov. Your videos are surprisingly relaxing, and I enjoy the builds a lot! You’ve taught be a lot of tips with building! Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks! So glad you're enjoying the content!
This is great for the new snowy biome! I'm planning an outpost on a snow-covered mountain and a steeper roof makes sense!
I was wondering about this while building the other day - thanks for sharing the technique!
Marvelous! I love to watch your new ways to build videos.
That looks awesome! Such a unique style. And so many roof shapes become possible with this method! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it :)
Thanks so much man! Can't wait to build a house to get this roof up to impress my friends
I agree their roof tile profile needs a lot of work. Corners, Valleys, End Tiles, etc. I messaged them about that. I love clay tiles but...
PS I love using the default scaffolding so it looks like you're really doing house construction LoL
Came for the mic, stayed for the gameplay 🔥🔥
Just a suggestion to build the shingles in rows after you put down the guide blocks.
Super cool! 😊
ok so now i just gotta do the steep roof but round ^^
I really loved this tutorial. I always hate it in games where the roof slopes ae all the same angle. Now I have a way to create a steeper slant! This will add an entire new level to building. I am wondering if more angles could be created, using the individual block placement trick, by varying the pattern from the 2 up 1 out pattern you demonstrated here. For example, creating an even shallower angle than the standard, by making a pattern that was wider than it is tall. It's something to experiment with!
As a side note, to avoid having the trimming sticking through the top of the roof, one can add a second layer of the roof. Most of the existing builds in the game, such as at Woodgard, have a second layer of roof pieces. I believe these are best placed on the inside of the structure. Then, the wall pieces (created by the voxel details) that would otherwise clip through the roof are hidden by the second layer of blocks. This is optional, of course, if one does not mind the little clippings. But, if the individual creator would like a more seamless look and does not mind the bit of extra work involved, the technique is perfect for making rooves more polished.
Yah many angles could be created! And yes that's a good way for sure to make sure that the wall doesn't poke through
Turning off tesselation and voxel details can immensely help with placing the roof btw. I made a starter house with a steep roof and discovering that was a reaotime saver.
What exactly do those settings end up doing just curious?
@@practicallyprinz removed any details and textures so you just see the blocks kinda looks like Minecraft
Amazing. A question, have you found a way to make arches or archways? I'm trying to create a medieval breezeway which was popular in the past.
You can create anything with blocks, but I'll let you know if I ever try creating one and what types of blocks I end up using :)
This would work well for the first section of a gambrel roof, but would need a shallow pitch for the top section. (For a barn roof)
Thanks for showing what not to use. Do you think this technique would work horizontally? Like a 26 degree roof
yah it would absolutely work that way as well :)
I wouldn't do that much work if I was getting PAID!
Looks great, though.
Is there an advantage to having a steep roof? Or is it merely a matter of taste/ambiance?
Also, maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that the tarred wood roof pieces don't match on both sides.
There arent't mechanical benefits to the steep roof in Enshrouded, aside perhaps from making a taller point to climb up and jump off of your own house. It's an aesthetic thing to be able to build more styles of buildings that have more pointed roofs or some that mix steeper and less steep parts on the same building.
He mentioned that the sides don't match perfectly, because normally one piece crosses in front of the other when used the intended way.
A little unfortunate, also if used as window trim, makes it look a little janky, at least to me.
@@nozee77Yah, you can also use something else as the trim, but the tarred roof carvings look nice and from far away i can trick myself into thinking they match up better 😂
I thought you would fix up a ruin by now because you can only have 8 flame alters and by the looks of things you've already used 5 of them maybe more just wanted to let you know
Still waiting on that window tutorial
Hope you enjoy it when you get around to watching it :)
this so time consuming, doing everything block by block.. they should be made roofing way easy
yah I'd love for them to add steeper and shallower blueprints like this someday
wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much work lol
since we get wall templates I was honestly expecting roof template parts to snap together. While I applaud the work here and consider myself a good builder, I have to agree, this is far too much faff to build a roof. I will be sticking to flat roof houses unless this changes.
