The guardian losing superheated is NOT broken, it's fully working as intended. It's to remove the obvious cheese of spamming the hammer on him in 1 turn, completely reducing the encounter to a joke.
Yeah, I can see how that works, but they should have designed the encounter better such that, for example, the lava is splashed away by the hammer. Otherwise, it’s silly to see him lying prone in a pool of lava and not be overheated, whereas just a second ago he had his toes in there and was overheated… This encounter is just badly designed, in my opinion, quite a few things seem to be off :/
@@immersioneer Eh, visuals are just visuals. Maybe I'm showing my age here but I don't find them that important and not a source of information about mechanics. However, they should, perhaps, have added an extra line in the tooltip of Superheated that the condition disappears after being subjected to the impact of an extremely large force, or something like that. But perhaps they just preferred brevity in their tooltips because people are allergic to reading. I've seen so many people complain about the length of texts in games, especially RPGs, and just skip reading. We live in an age where people are unable to read anything longer than a tweet.
Yeah, came in really handy here! It’s definitely good, but given I can only get one action per turn and I can pull off a sneak attack almost every turn, it never sees much play :(
Aaahhh… then what’s the point of saying “2 turns”? You can wait 2 turns to come back up without spending 50% of movement speed? :/ Is that ever worth it?
@@immersioneer To be frank not really, it does give advantage and if combined with other movement reducing things(like ray of frost) it could be quite powerful.
@@immersioneer Yes, Grym can be beated in melee combat. Monks are fanatastic in this fight, but martials with two-handed weapons coupled with great weapon master are also quite effective. I have personally soloed Grym using a monk and a barbarian on multiple occassions I have also had many solo honour runs ended in this encounter. I always enter into this combat with trepidation. I would completely avoid this fight, but the XP and items are too alluring.
The video suddenly cuts out at the end. Looking at your partner's video, there was an extra minute and then the game crashed. Did the last minute get corrupted by the crash?
Yes, I’m lucky to even have this video. There is some setting in OBS that I have enabled to do that. I think I’ve fixed my PC though (knock on wood), so we’ll resume tomorrow.
Really? I thought it was ok for the most part. Sometimes when I zoom in the in-game sounds get pretty loud, I noticed that. Unfortunately, the BG3 sound controls are a bit weird and hard to dial in properly. I always find the narrator's voice too quiet and the world ambient sounds too loud, but I don't think there is a way to adjust them any further :(
Him not being superheated after the hammer is unfortunately intended
Kind of makes sense, but kind of doesn’t, to be honest… :(

Ray of frost really good! Its great to see you use it :)

Just a heads up , if a creature has prone they use half their movement to stand up. Thats why Grym could get up despite having prone

I got so lucky when a random monk player pretty much solo'd Grim while I was trying to use the hammer
Interesting, so there is a way to fight him in melee?

Coming on Wednesday! For sure!
Great video, but I feel like the game sound is too loud
