- The drawing on the ax was made by etching the metal in a solution of ferric chloride. Metal etching is a very exciting process that anyone can repeat. In some of my other videos I give detailed explanations of the ingredients I use.

What ingredients do you use? Great video, outstanding craftsmanship. But some some context and list of ingredients would really help a lot.
Acido ferrico
should be re titled "watch me" because this is not a "how too" as there is no explanation of what is being done and why.
And it's not the easy way
I'll help with what little acid etching I've done. Mind you, I'm going off experience and his video. Use gloves and eye protection as hydrochloric acid will damage exposed flesh. Do this in a well ventilated area.
1: clean item to bare metal
2: mix ferric chloride and water together in plastic jug (this makes hydrochloric acid so be sure to have a container with a lid to store it in)
3: mix water and baking soda to nullify acid.
4: use a "resist" paint or ink to coat the item, this can be found at art supply stores
5: draw a pattern
6: trace pattern onto item by scratching the resist off (toothpick works pretty good) . In this instance he went for a raised pattern as opposed to a indented.
7: submerge item in acid for a time (the longer the dunk, the deeper the etch 15 minutes will leave barely a surface level mark)
8: clean item with water and baking soda then lightly sand
9: polish with a solution

first of all i been watching your videos for i think five hours now, your work is AMAZING, im trying to reproduce this into cocktails shakers made for stainless steel 316, so far i cant be sure if i will get the depth of the engraving that you achive here with carbon steel, also the paint you use for either the electrolysis process and the clorhine acid is the same? brands are quite diferent from where i am so im not sure what kind i should look for. BALLISTOL SCHNELL-BRUNIERUNG says it cant be used in something thats over 3% Cr, food grade stainless steel is between 16-18% so i dont know wich alternative can use. i know its a lot to ask but if you have any pointers ill eternaly gratefull to you.
Thank you for your attention to my work. Stainless steel can be etched with ferric chloride, but the solution must be heated to 60 degrees Celsius. I usually pickle stainless steel electrochemically. Galvanized. If I understand your question correctly.

Kirill, how long do you wait after painting with Alkyd paint, before you start removing some of the paint? My paint was very brittle and hard to remove. The picture came out good, but the paint was very hard to work with! Thanks!

What alternatives to the alkyd paint are there? I can't find this in the uk for some reason and the other common spray paints make large chips when scratching.

Gracias por su atención a mi trabajo. Agrego bicarbonato de sodio al agua para neutralizar la solución de grabado. Al final, aplico un líquido con un pincel para ennegrecer rápidamente el metal. Para más contraste.

@@waltermoreira3811 El patinador quimico se aplica en pequeñas cantidades y no debe ser un problema para que su posible toxicidad lo sea.. si deseas un patinado tradicional aplicado desde la antiguedad la solución o alternativa es calentar la pieza haste los 250 grados centigrados aproximadamente o al rojo ( segun su utilización ) para seguidamente introducirla en aceite vegetal, vale cualquier aceite de origen vegetal. El resultado dependera de si necesitas repetir la operación alguna vez más o te queda bien a la primera. Ensayando se aprende. El resultado es el mismo, aunque el color del patinado puede variar.

Это советский кухонный топорик плохого качества, они были почти в каждом доме, но ими никто не пользовался - они просто лежали.
Однажды мы с пацанами поехали на бакшу за кавунами. Заехали к местной самогонщице за бутылкой самогона, а она отказалась нам продавать потому что мы дети. Объяснили, что мы не себе, а хотим поехать на поле и выменять бутылку самогона на мешок кавунов. Тогда она согласилась, и продала нам эту бутылку.
Когда мы приехали на велосипедах на поле, то сторож отказался от этой сделки. Он сказал, что все везут ему этот проклятый самогон, что у него уже завались самогона, хоть упейся. Но никто не додумывается привезти ему еды. Мы уехали, я вернулся к дедушке и рассказал эту историю. Он забрал самогон, выпил его, а утром мы взяли литровую банку домашней тушонки, банку сала, буханку хлеба, каких-то огурцов-помидоров, молока и поехали к этому сторожу. Он обрадовался, взял еду и разрешил набрать кавунов столько, сколько влезет в машину.
Когда мы нагрузились, и собрались уезжать, то я спросил - а что ещё ему нужно? Он ответил, что у него нету топора. Что хозяин поля не дал ему топор, и он колет дрова ножом.
Тогда мы поехали домой, выгрузили нашу добычу. Затем незаметно взяли у бабушки такой же топорик, как на видео, чтобы она не видела. Вернулись на поле, и отдали его сторожу. Он очень обрадовался, и разрешил набрать ещё одну машину арбузов. Пожалуй, это была одна из лучших сделок в моей жизни.
Круче было только тогда, когда мы покатались на вертолёте взамен на два десятка яиц из-под квочки, но это уже другая история😅
