    Yes, please--do a video at some point about these "double languids". I can't seem to find information on them anywhere. Your videos are always interesting and great for organ geeks like myself.

      Apparently, Audsley talks about them in one of his books on organ building.

    Honestly, its incredible how much your video quality has improved from the start of the channel, especially since the last visits

    Don't you just hate it when you misread your organ contract's fine print?

    You're a great guy. I love this organ. Keep up the great videos!

    Fabulous explanation! You did a brilliant job helping us understand the craft involved in what makes a pipe sound the way it sounds. B R A V O !

      Thanks! Next visit I plan to do a similar video with regard to reed stops.

    I love the Ethel Merman reference! It will be interesting to learn how double languids play into this. Is it like having (gulp!) *two* Ethels in full voice?

    • @cnagorka

      Thanks for noticing, I thought more people would comment about the Ethel Merman clip. I also thought of Martha Raye's commercials where she says "Take it from the big mouth!"

      @@cnagorka Please include Martha if you do a video about the Grand Ophicleide trebles. "Goodnight, Sisters!"

    this was incredibly interesting. would love to hear more about pipe construction and voicing. is there any books you would recommend that explain these kind of things?

    • @cnagorka
      @cnagorka  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend the old standard, William Barnes "The Contemporary American Organ" which can be found just about everywhere.

    Anyone know the dimensions and scaling of a standard Wurlitzer tibia? There really aren’t any available and the couple I’ve seen were$$$$$. I have the 12 note offset chest for a standard scale tibia and would be able to build one from scratch.

    Does this mean that the 32’ Diapason in pedal left would be a scale #1?

    • @blu4r316
      @blu4r316 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its probably #0.2😂

    • @dougbackman7788

      The Diapason at 24" in diameter is between a Scale 12 (24.45") and Scale 13 (23.41"). While it is the heaviest metal 32' Diapason in the world, it is not the largest. There are a few examples of 25" and 26" 32' Diapasons in the UK at St. George's Hall and Liverpool Cathedral respectively. Also it is rumored that the 32' Diapason at Royal Albert Hall is 30" in diameter, make it largest in the world, but I have been unable to confirm that.

    So in scaling the other way, do they use ought numbers like in fish hooks? 3, 2,1, 1/0, 2/0 3/0?

    • @cnagorka
      @cnagorka  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, there's no need as nobody builds a pipe that's bigger than one meter in diameter, so there's no call for it!

    • @roberthoffhines5419
      @roberthoffhines5419 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cnagorkaAh, of course, never seen a 6'+/- scaled pipe. if they did...it would be in THIS instrument!

    • @dougbackman7788
      @dougbackman7788 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well technically at 40"x40" scale, at least two Wurlitzer 32' Diaphones I know of- one for Roosevelt Cemetery opus 998 (on 50" wind) and also the one for Denver Auditorium opus 154, would be 5.76" larger than #1 scale (39.37"). The equation to calculate the diameter equivalent of a square pipe is: Sqrt(Internal Depth of Pipe x Internal Width of Pipe /3.1416) x 2. @@cnagorka

    73 pipes. Would those 73 pipes be for the third keyboard up from the bottom two keyboards?

    • @cnagorka
      @cnagorka  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Great is manual II, so the second up from the bottom.

    SCale numbers are very difficult to understand (terrible at math).
