I was lucky enough to meet Klein when he visited the MOMA in the Greek city of Thessaloniki. He gave us a guided tour of his exhibition. Ironically, I'd never heard of him or his work till that day but thankfully a photographer friends bullied me into attended. Best decision ever, as Klein's approach to photography deeply influenced my photography.

I will now be entering all the other episodes... neatly in a line to consume as the Mrs is away for a couple of days. I have also been introduced to Bump Books world of zines. I can’t imagine how much work an research this must have been. In 2014 I enjoyed his retrospective in Amsterdam and it was a huge one, later in 2016 I had the chance to see him in person at a lecture in Luxembourg. Really a great character with plenty of humour. Hope you enjoyed making the video as much as I enjoyed watching it. Thanks and keep on going this videos a great!
Excellent upload. Saw a documentary on the BBC about William Klein in 2011 or 12. It blew my mind, and started my journey into Street Photography. Artists like William Klein and Gordon Parks are my heroes. I do not consider them to be just photographers, they are the multiple media managers of their day… Props

You made me laugh a lot with your sharp wit, and your knowledge on street photographers and photography in general is astonishing. I live in north london and tube it into Leicester Square and Soho regularly with my GR3. I never get bored of Soho and the 1980 photos really do remind me how it's changed! That last photo in Piccadilly of the shoeshine is excellent and I like the added detail of the word 'Time' for the Time magazine advert behind him, like it's a nod to a bygone time as witnessed in that photo. Fabulous Episode - no idea why that last shot of the Soho street wasn't used - it's my favourite of those shown in the video; multi-layered with lots going on. The anthesis of most of today's images, which have to make an impact on your mobile phone.
I honestly believe it was just not actually in Soho. That's the only reason I can think of, either that or Klein never offered it up? It could have been a shot he took for himself? I guess we'll never know for certain. Thanks for watching though, please shout about the films from your rooftop but don't fall off.
A suggestion for a future show, pictures of Vicars! The picture of the baseball game had a vicar in it (more or less on the top right line of thirds, if I remember!) That would be an amazing episode! Ha ha!

Thats so funny I always said William Klein is my number one favorite photographer closely followed by Daido Moriyama at number 2. I do think their style has quite some similarities but I didn't knew there was a bit of a feude between them (even though it might not been that serious).
Another brilliant episode about one of my all time favourite photographers. I was going to suggest Daido until I reached the end. I wonder whether Klein got to London for the Klein/Moriyama exhibition at Tate Modern. I know Daido did.
Another splendid video, Stephen. Of course, now you have to interview Moriyama to find the real story (wear steel-toed shoes, you never know when he'll strike again).
