Very interesting to hear there's a big variation in insurance premiums, so thought i would share my details as I'm feeling a little smug 😊. I currently pay £279pa (£219pa in 2022) for my 330d xd f31, max ncb, no convictions, early 50's and semi rural location in the south east. However in 1990 i bought a Renault 5GT Turbo and paid £1500pa for the insurance. If you apply inflation to that figure it equates to about £3500 in todays money😮, so I've had some hefty premiums in the past insuring hot hatches but it was worth every penny in 'smiles per mile' 😅.
My 530d costs £291 per year with Aviva at 42 yrs old living in cornwall, and having 5yrs no claims. Suprised what prices some people are getting. It must be areas that have higher car crime.
Good spot on the premium tax by the way.Been paying it for years with my motor.Renewal in April sees it drop to the normal rate. It's been quite a pain in the arse over the years.Esp since it goes up with inflation.
Exactly.Problem now is more and more cars are being caught up in the net.Govt love it,no plans to drop it.Inflation is playing right into their fat greedy paws.@@BMWFAMuk
Location seems to be the biggest thing currently. I have no NCD but 5 years named driver. Average quotes for average cars are in the 2k region (depends on car of course) and when I put my mates address in, i get quotes at the 1k region. Literally £1000 difference per year based on address alone.
My 2019 X3M 40d costs me £780 a year. I had quotes over £2k from some companies. Last year I paid just over £400 for my 2022 M135i and this year the cheapest quote was £750. I'm 45 with 17 years no claims and living in rural Norfolk.
My M140i cost £1100 last year, it is now £1600 for no apparent reason. Most places I go to try insure the car, with no claims, etc, I can't even get a quote. It is silly now.
Got the same issue with mine with insurance as due 28th Dec. Went up to 2k from 800 last year, got it down to 1300 with the company I'm with but shopped around and found it for 1050. Crazy though the prices. Mines group 36e on insurance and got 12 years no claims.
@@BMWFAMuk that's why the prices are dropping on these sorts of cars no one can afford to maintain them. Got my service due in April, £600 there and needs 4 tyres most likely then as well, which are £250 each 🤦🏻 but more then likely keeping it now, so will have to pay the money on it

The m140 is cheaper to insure than a 35d the 35d believe it or not is higher than a f80 m3 which I find absolutely insane group 42 for a m3 and group 43 and 44 for a 35 I could insure a m3 for 187 quid less per year than mine its absolutely bonkers
@@BMWFAMuk I’ve seen some people say their premium has quadrupled over the last year and I can only think they’re putting things in wrong but they don’t . Don’t kid yourself Matin. There’s a lot of money about. Some car buyers, myself included use the Christmas holidays to change their car. Just make sure to advertise nationally. I sold my E92 M3 recently. Cash buyer travelled from Shropshire after I week of advertising. I thought about same model as you’re looking at. After driving a couple I ended up with another extra special F32 430 lci. Pleased I did. Just saying. 🫣👍🏻
@@BMWFAMuk Have a serious look at those mate. Insurance will be no different from what you’re on now. Very little if anything. Moving from derv will hit you driving 250 miles a week. My wife works insurance for years. Just come to light that if you get quotes with a fresh email and start of policy later than 2 weeks ahead it reduces the quote substantially. Same with house insurance. If anyone what’s to try it to confirm. Made a difference for me.
