The interior is much nicer than i thought it would be. The price for an apartment that size and with those amenities, where I live in the UK, would be a bargain. We would look at three times that for a similar property.

The highest paid salary in Russia is roughly 5,014.29 and that's for a surgeon. The average monthly earnings for the typical Russian family is 1,130.00 USD a month. Rent on a one bedroom apartment in Moscow is 5,538 RUB is roughly 60.00 USD, affordable for US citizens but not so for a Russian Family
@@angieowen1165 Average earnings in the US are $2,500/month, average monthly costs for a family of 3: rent/mortgage $1,200, electric $200, water $60, car payment $300, Gas $170, low quality food $450/month (or $5/day per person). This doesn't even factor in costs like healthcare, education, car/home maintenance, toiletries/hygiene products alone can cost almost $100/month. 1st world people are typically paid based on purchasing power (Belgians and Canadians not so much), Russians receive social benefits at an *extremely LOW TAX rate* that North Americans and Western Europeans wish we could have. On top of that the share of a Russian salary that goes toward rent and utilities depending on the location is only 15-20%. As you can see in the US the average American is paying 58% of their income towards rent and utilities, if we have a car it jumps to 77%. And if you earn $2,500/month you are disqualified from SNAP (food stamps) in most US States. The US is a first worlds nation on the global stage but a 3rd world nation when it comes to food insecurity, homelessness, and unemployment because there is a large part of the population that would prefer to be homeless or living in shelters with a full stomach than housed and starving. And you'd be surprised how many people choose to get locked up in jail just to receive free housing, 3 meals per day and healthcare. Macroeconomics does not represent the reality of individual people. Russians are not committing crimes just to receive social benefits, they already receive them as tax payers.
Interesting how in Russia, the developers are focusing on providing more things for families with children to help sell the units. But in the USA developers are making things more focused on single or couples with no children to help sell units. Western countries are having or about to have a major problem with the lack of population replacement (not enough babies to replace even the parents).
I lived in Russia for a while and absolutely loved these types of apartment buildings with everything you need nearby. Hopefully I'm able to move there permanently soon
It all looks very good, modern, convenient, clean, lots of light, wide paths, nice shops already operating nearby, nice parks and paly areas. And people are still complaining about these modern housing installations. You should see what horrible conditions people have to deal with in London. Awful leaky drafty dingy flats with mould, no space for anything, no playgrounds for kids, everything falling apart, and to get even these awful flats in London you will have to pay at least £2000 per month and compete with other desperate tenants.
I live with my family in a building like this. Everything is really close to the video. Playgrounds, sandpits, football field. 11-th level. 60 square metres apartment. The city of Tyumen. My mortage is fully paid by me. I think I'm lucky.
18 years I paid took 4 million (In '18 it was approximately $30,000) I receive a little more than the average salary The apartment is 64 square meters, two-room. The yard is almost the same, there is security, everything is under cameras, the city of Yekaterinburg
I love these tours! I'm in the US (California) and really appreciate how different the living culture is! I actually like the Russian culture better in their desire to be outdoors so much! I guess being in apartments would perhaps spur that though! I also love the arm wrestling platform and the whole area actually! That's another different, the focus on fitness in parks! That's amazing! But the prices there are incredible! What I would give to have an apartment for anything under a half million dollars! Your family has a lovely apartment! Please thank them for letting us visit! ☺
You start a family - a child is born and the state pays you 600,000 thousand rubles; if a second one is born, they give the same amount and still different payments for little things and benefits from the state, as a result, you get 2,500,000 rubles from the birth of two children. Mortgages, by the way, also fall under preferential interest, something like 2-1% I bought a private house "dacha", well, I don't have a family) In the city border at a percentage of 12-14%, I don't remember exactly, but it cost me 1,300,000 rubles for 15 years is about 2.300.000 rubles. Two-story brick house downstairs on the ground floor 84m2. There is gas, water and electricity) There is an outdoor shower to bathe in the heat in the summer, a large capacity for collecting rainwater from the roof and that's all for watering 15 trees, half of them are young. Apples, pears, peaches, cherries, apricots. Ceilings 3 meters high, wall thickness 3 bricks. Large radiators for heating, you can open windows in winter and it will still be hot) Well, I always heat at 25 degrees in winter - this is the ideal temperature to sleep without a blanket at home)) the standard area of 6 acres of land is not a lot but not a little. Two weeks ago it was very hot +37 in the shade, before there were no more than 32 degrees in the shade until 2012. In general, there is a washing machine) toaster microwave oven) Internet 1000 Mbps with Wi-Fi. But when I was looking for a house, I spent 2 months on it, and I did not contact the agency, etc. I found the seller on the ad and the bank, as an intermediary, took upon itself the obligation to draw up documents from the seller, and I had to pay 3,000 thousand rubles for the papers for the services and only wait for the seller’s side until he takes certificates and drawings of the house and draws up a contract of sale in 4 days Everything is ready and I moved into my own house.
@@PirandelloKrugerand yet the vast majority of Russians live pay check to pay check in povity. You cant lie to me, i live in Russia I see how the avarage person lives and its nothing short of dismall And america moving here would learn fast that for a Russian anywhere outside Russia is better. We forungers get away with living here happerly becuase we get far better pay. While avarage pay for a russian is a pittiful 30k to 50k a month, with 100k in moscow, that simply is not the best. You cant by what you want when you want like in the US. A new Iphone costs as much as a months pay to a yearly wage. So dont try to come here and paint a faluse narative and lie to the interent that Russians are living great, becuase they are not.
Housing is cheaper becuase no one would be able to buy it. Everything but products are cheaper. Iphones coat as much as a month to a yearly wage for an avarage Russian. Rent takes up most of your pay and your left with just enough for that month to get by, there is little room for new products its why you see videos of russian cars with ductap holding it together, they literly cant afford to repare it. While you cry about living in paridice, russians deal with living in nearp poviety and they all to stubben to admit what a hellwhole they have created.
We have very strict regulations here about how everything should be built. Like, how much space to leave between buildings, how much sunlight each apartment must have, how much air is entering the home, how many schools and kindergartens for appointed amount of kids in the area, how far the nearest medical clinic should be, how many groceries stores in the area and so much more. We even studied about all this in medical uni 😂 And most of these norms and regulations are left from Soviet times, so almost all of the cities live by these standarts. I really like how they plan out everything here
What the hell are you on about, russian patriots. These houses are about as depressive as my grandma"s kruschevka which she got in 1960 - only much worse now due to them having layered 5 kruschevkas on top of each other making it a proper ants nest nightmare. It's no way for a human being to live. As for modern, it's about as modern as a soviet panelka highrise from year 1960. The developed world refused such housing about 50 years ago.
Nice apartment. I live in Ottawa and just as a comparison that apartment would be $2200 $C a month here. It could be $2800 in the high price downtown areas. If you are wondering, a lot of people here are pissed off about how much rent has increased the last few years.
Average after tax family income in Canada is about $68,000 so people with lower salaries and debt are struggling and other people are doing just fine. A lot of people with variable rate lower mortgages are being forced to sell, a story in the Toronto Star last week was on a couple both with good jobs but their mortgage went from $3200 to $6800 a month so they are losing their dream house. Unfortunate a lot of people in Canada went for variable rate mortgages at .85% which are now around 7%.
It was "You will own nothing and be happy". I guess Klaus upgraded it to "You will rent nothing and be happy". House pricings all over the West are just ridiculous.
Many people are complaining about the concept of this kind of construction, the advantages ,1 heating there is central heating 2 treated and drinkable water 3 communication, like fiber optics internet, good road network,4 sanitation , play ground for kids 5 nearby pharmacy clinic, school, pipe, gas, sewage, if you leave in your own house is going to cost you some big money to provide some of this for your self, outside the space, this kind of houses beat personal house in general advantage

Very luxury building and the playground area was insane! Had everything except a swimming pool. Also, those watermelons were absolutely huge! In my country in EU watermelons are the size of a small children's soccer ball.
Yesterday I bought an exactly the same watermelon as you describe. I was surprised. It's hard to find small watermelons here in Russia. The other sort, I guess. BTW it wasn't any good.
That's not luxury , man! It's located on the edge of the city. And the apartment size is medium. No pool, no gym inside. Just a normal apartment where most people live.
For me these rooms seems little narrow, I'm used to my 3,6 meters wide room 3 m tall (minus stretch ceiling). Tho our previous brezhnevka's had standard 3m wide & 2.5 m tall
There is nothing typical, people. Hilarious. Average family cant afford this apartment because of average salary (600) If the majority cant afford, theres nothing typical. Gosh.

I liked Florida when I was there. Calm state, relaxed driving, haven't seen any alligators or giant spiders though. Miami was weird, Orlando is nice but pricy, road to Keys is awesome, but TBH Key West is nothing special and waaaay overpriced. I'd say most of the States is about living in nice small communities of suburbs, not in big cities and that's what I want for my country, cause we have no problems with land, but keep on building antnests for people taller and taller. In Russell's videos you mostly see nice blocks, not the cheapest and not the hugest, I skipped through most of his videos. For example there's city Odintsovo like Aprelevka where he stayed and there you can see the WALL of 30 story tall building with maybe 20-25 entrances.

I love that there's a running track, that whole central area is way more spacious than I would've thought. The non-balcony storage solution for bikes is good. some people don't even realize just how much weight they can put on a balcony.
As a resident of USA it astonishes me of the modernity of life in Russia - the array of shops, other amenities as outdoor space and indoor spaces. Definitely not something I expected. Apartment sizes seem to me are cramped, square-footage-wise. But I understand space is at a premium, just as it is in the U.S.A. My bedroom apartment is in California is 54 sq mtrs, and I'd like more.
This is inexpensive apartment for the first time homebuyers (57K). In the same apartment complex you can get twice as much space for ~ 100K that is comparable to 2- or even 3-bedroom apartment in the US. Also, many Russian families have a vacation house (dacha) not far away from the city. If they don't have one, frequently people can go for weekends to stay with friends or relatives on their dacha's - on regular basis, it is normal due to closer family and friendship ties than you can see in US.
While there are many new buildings like this in the cities of Russia, 5.5 million Rubles is way out of most people’s price range, as has been pointed out by others.. A distressing trend has been people going bankrupt, when unable to pay for mortgages and home repair loans - a long way from Soviet times, when your job most often came with a nearly free apartment..
Thank you for the very interesting tour.. fascinating how people in many places around the world live in similar housing! Looking forward to your next tour!❤️

A lot of apartment complexes now have underground parking (it's been a thing in Moscow for nearly a decade) like the housing in Ufa which Russell is visiting. I've also noticed that (on the fringes of Moscow/Moscow region - where space is less of a premium) that a lot of new-build residential buildings also include an adjoining multi-storey car park for residents.

Russell, you are one of the few who shows the world that Russians do not live in caves, don't walk the streets with Molotov cocktails and don't eat babies for breakfast. I haven't watched all your videos yet, so I don't know if you've been to Kazan. This city differs from the typical large cities of Russia, as the influence of the Islamic East is very felt here. But at the same time it is a very modern city. I invite you to Kazan. I will be happy to show you those places that delight not only tourists, but even local residents.
MB Barbell is Russian sports equipment manufacturer, located in Petrozavodsk, Karelia. They produce the most of outdoor/workout/power lifting equipment in our country.
It is very similar to apartment complexes in Korea or China. The internal structure of the apartment rooms is also similar to that of Korean apartments. I was a bit surprised to learn that even in Russia, people take off their shoes inside apartment rooms. I thought that in Russia, Europe, and North and Central American countries, you don't take off your shoes even indoors.
If you want to understand russian culture just imagine asian who speak straight forward and based on christianity. Your life built around family but if your cousin is asshole you don't call him, you highly respect olders but if some act aggressively in supermarket for example you can tell him to fuck off, you work 60 hours per week but for better not for boss. something like that.
These apartments feel very claustrophobic to me. I do like the communal feel but I feel like everyone would be on top of each other. Very different way of life for sure.
Ufa is not a province city, it's pretty big regional center. Probably you have to look at Saratov region, such a typical towns like Pugachev, Engels and Balakovo.
These look very nice. When I think of Russia, I think of the way the old neighborhoods look. These are modern and spacious. So the people actually purchase these apartments, so they don't have to pay rent forever. Nice!
I really appreciate your complete tours of buildings inside and out. These newer units are nice but I wish the rooms were a bit larger. I think more multi-purpose furniture (IKEA or better) would help with functionality. These are the best video tours of Russia housing and shopping I have seen. Are the homeless (unhoused) provided any shelter? Here in California we have thousands living on the streets in LA and SF Bay Area. One of the many inequalities of Capitalism no one wants to think about.
It's one everybody DOES think about, though. If your weather is mild and you offer a lot of assistance, they will come. There are many places in the US hostile to the homeless, in terms of weather and services, and they are moved along out of town.
It's very difficult to persuade a homeless person to go to a public shelter instead of risking to stay outside. There are too many people in one room, are stealing from each other...

My apartment complex was built in 1960 with no elevator but has been renovated. 66 square metres. Kitchen very small can't fit table and chairs. Has a balcony and swimming pool. 50 metres to large shopping centre and 150 metres to train station. But not $83000, $400,000. No playground but large garden area. Problem is the building has security but not the carparks. My vehicle has been broken into several times over the years and the police do nothing. Also bikes etc stolen. One apartment was just leased for $450 a week which is ridiculously overpriced. I could live in these apartments Russel Thanks for the walk through

@@angieowen1165
Average earnings in the US are $2,500/month, average monthly costs for a family of 3: rent/mortgage $1,200, electric $200, water $60, car payment $300, Gas $170, low quality food $450/month (or $5/day per person).
Actually, Australia does.

Interesting how in Russia, the developers are focusing on providing more things for families with children to help sell the units. But in the USA developers are making things more focused on single or couples with no children to help sell units. Western countries are having or about to have a major problem with the lack of population replacement (not enough babies to replace even the parents).

What about average salary in Ottawa? 2800 per month is pretty much. Is it affordable for most people?
Average after tax family income in Canada is about $68,000 so people with lower salaries and debt are struggling and other people are doing just fine. A lot of people with variable rate lower mortgages are being forced to sell, a story in the Toronto Star last week was on a couple both with good jobs but their mortgage went from $3200 to $6800 a month so they are losing their dream house. Unfortunate a lot of people in Canada went for variable rate mortgages at .85% which are now around 7%.

23% of Russians have no indoor plumbing and their streets are often unpaved outside of cities.

Good observations you make about this appartment and what you would prefer.

Agree with you about WC be separate.
Did they start making underground parking? I remember the construction companies basically almost never included parking lots. Also remember fun times trying to find the spot where to leave your car outside - bloody annoying, I must say.
This building has underground parking. So far this building it's easy to find a spot on a daily basis. But i know what you mean, where i live in Moscow Region, come 6pm you can be driving in circles looking for a spot close to your door.
@@TravellingwithRussell Walking is a healthy thing to do, and you will find a spot much easier, and can laugh at those driving in circles, lol. At age 75 it's what I've been doing for years.

There are centers for homeless people in each city
I haven't seen a homeless person on the street for over 20 years. I'm sure they are, but I don't even know where to look.
It's very difficult to persuade a homeless person to go to a public shelter instead of risking to stay outside. There are too many people in one room, are stealing from each other...
