I deeply appreciate Ben's incredibly long-running joke of making the "Save the World" intro more and more raspy to the point of being almost inaudible, only to have the last one of the series sound like a member of the Castrati with a lungful of helium.
I must have rolled a natural 20 when I donated at the start of the year, I've only donated once and my soldier turned out to have high psi strength and accuracy and made it to the final mission and survived!
It has been a bizarre experience, watching all of this 3-5 years after the fact. Many golden moments that'll stick with me, and many moments that aged like a fine steak left out in the sun that'll also stick with me. Still, I've loved every minute of it, as I have the other X-COM series, and I really miss the Lewis in Lewis and Ben Save the World. Big love!
Can't believe this is actually ending! It has been so consistent, and consistently wonderful, for the entire year and a half. As much as it is sad to see it go, I'm excited to see what comes next.
One of my favorite parts were the hybrid missions. Yeah, they were tedious as hell but all the hi-ex explosions killing 20 hybrids in one turn crashing the game had a certain unique appeal.
@@KillingShooter I'm pretty sure there were Hybrid missions in this as well. Then again, it's hard to remember because I re-watched FMP when they were taking a break from this a while back.
#1 Sniper Vidarsk, alone with a long range weapon, was rushed by a previously unheard of OMEGA CRYSALID. And then apparently he fucking bloodborne-parried it with his sniper rifle and hip-fired it to death as it fled.
Fun fact: egyptian pyramids have (technically) 8 sides. That's because their "sides" are actually slightly angled inward, so they're actually like very fat stars.
There are more awesome Xcom mods to play still. There's "The Great War of the Worlds", "UNEXCOM" "Reaver's Faithful Megamod" and of course the ever amazing "Combat Forklifts". Jokes aside these guys have just scratched the surface. Isn't it crazy though. I watched these guys play vanilla Xcom back in 2011, and I've been playing it consistently for over a decade. Thank you Commanders for making this series. It been my favorite show of the last year+ So many great moments, it was all very entertaining to watch. Hopefully the next project for Lewis and Ben will be just as amazing! Im excited for the future BROTHAAAAS.
And so Lewis and Ben succeeded in their mission to kill the largest orGan in the universe. Shame my chump spent months in base without doing a single mission, but at least he gets to help in repopulation efforts!
It took months of daily binging, but i did it...i watched it all, In the year 2024, 21/04/2024 at 7:27 PM Local Time; I witnessed the end of a legend, and lewis and ben save the world. O7 Godspeed you beautiful madlads. And goodbye, Commanders.
Chief Agent Ben's perfectly shaped ass really looked great as he watched somebody else psychically control an ethereal that let them psychically control a further away ethereal then use that ethereal to blow up the gigantic brain. But you know really it was Ben that destroyed the brain at the end he did the pose and all.
Finally caught up with the series. No idea what you guys are doing next but I'm hoping for another xcom 2: wotc season. Perhaps even modded!! Keep up the good work. Hope to see you soon.
Watched the series all the way through, as both a vodder and a live man, it provided some good times, and background content. Can't wait for the next adventure (Thea2?) commanders.
Just now realized that they cpuld have brought landmines with them for the chyraslids. They didn't know to expect them, but it would have been handy to have them
I'm not a Warhammer fan so feel free to correct me but I remember Ben saying that the big machine guns they use fired rockets rather than bullets so his head cannon of short range guns might not be so far fetched. (I think he mentioned it during Space Hulk) If the armour was beyond the piercing capabilities of any gun that could be fired without the operator being propelled backwards then perhaps a rocket with a plasma cutter on the tip would be the only way to severely harm the armour. The rocket is ignited, uses some of its fuel to cover the distance and then uses the rest to keep pushing the cutter deeper into the armour, the closer you are to the target the more time it can spend cutting.
Bolter guns yeah, they essentially fire a propelled explosive. So the weapon launches the explosive that then has uses it's own small rocket to increase it's momentum. Where it explodes into whatever dedicated ammunition it was using.
Did that Names on Mars thing still happen with the virus? Edit: Wikipedia says it's scheduled for the 30th, so I suppose I'll find out in 2 days? Edit 2: an article on GeekWire says it's still going, and there's a plaque in tribute to medical professionals and their work during virus times.

Could you time code the scene from the episode of that happening? That sounds great.
Those were in the FMP, not xcom files

those 5 sided mars pyramids look very similar to the earths 4 sided ones, aliens confirmed

fingers crossed for the madcat compilation of all of the best bits that Lewis & Ben have mentioned in recollection from this episode

I wonder what Ian Torsian thought when they beat the game
Probably made note "nerf mind control"

I haven't watched these in the last half year or so, but I'm glad I got to see the end of it.
