I'm a Brewers fan born and raised in Nebraska. I watched this game and somehow I started getting nostalgic for a team's memories I wasn't even present for.
Same here man. I have zero emotional investment from Detroit. Somehow, our teams never get relocated (I thought the Lions and Pistons just may buy it never happens) so you don't have to worry about that but also teams get relocated every day (look at the Arizona Coyotes now Utah Mammoth/Yeti) but for some reason this one stings a little.
Oakland fans/residents I feel your pain. Especially with a HORRIBLE owner I understand the frustration. I was about to comment about it, but it seems you've made the comment first. In truth, this will be the third time in A's history they'll be moving, having played in Philadelphia between 1901-1954 and Kansas City between 1955-1967. By that stretch, the A's actually lasted pretty long in Oakland. It makes me think about your Wimbledon situation, when they moved and became MK Dons. Though it seems most North Americans like us are used to teams being moved, it seems the reality is that a lot of fans are deeply rooted in their teams being based in their hometowns. Though it's all business in the end, I do feel sad for their fans. At the very least I hope a new franchise opens in Oakland, so they'll get to watch the MLB in their own backyards.
This breaks my heart as I was part of this team as a loyal supporter from 2012-2023 and I don’t regret my time one but, Oakland will always have a special place in my heart 💚💛
