Whenever someone starts a thesis for a stock with "the shorts ..." it's best to RUN. This guy has NO IDEA what he's talking about on B Riley. Doesn't know or understand the business, doesn't know the players, has not a CLUE on what's going on beneath the surface there. But is so arrogant as to act like no legitimate analysis supports the bear case, it's just a bunch of smash and grab short sellers. Sheer, utter nonsense. He's going to look like a fool when it's all said and done. The only question is whether he'll show enough humility to admit his arrogance and that he had no grasp on how that business ran. It is toast. Doubtful the principals escape prosecution.

If you don't know what a bottom-tier bucket shop is and haven't done any work to see what the fraud allegations are all about, do some digging. Point is, if you're going to give people a platform, your credibility is at stake too. You asked no challenging questions of someone who was cavalierly and condescendingly dismissing the other side of the trade as being ill-informed and unable to do the basic math. That kind of hubris doesn't age well. Take, for example, the claim that there's no way RILY ends badly b/c Bryant Riley has a buyout offer on the table. And you didn't bother to ask him where Riley was going to get the funding to do the buyout. There will be nobody would lend a dime to Riley. Do you know Porter Collins or any of the other far sharper analysts out there who have been on the correct side of the RILY trade all the way down? If not, look them up and find out what their case is, come prepared the next time you have your guest on. I've taken the time to alert you b/c I like your podcast. But that guest's takes are incredibly superficial and his arrogance is exceeded only by his ignorance. Ask some hard questions and you'll see he's got nothing more than a superficial understanding of the B Riley bucket shop. Ask him how shops like Roth and B Riley really make their money. Ask him about KYC violations. Ask him about whether they used their clients to offload their dogs. Reading a couple Qs and Ks is no substitute for understanding the business and more importantly, assessing the caliber individuals running it.
