I have reserved comment until finishing the entire 4 part series.... This has been an AMAZING tutorial ! One I will refer back to quite often I think. So much information, and even as a semi-experienced watercolorist, I have found it extremely helpful .. I have wanted to start a sketch book / journal for quite some time but have just not really been brave enough to put things in a book.. ( i know that sounds so chicken... but that is my little internal battle at present. You have motivated me to give it a whirl.. Thank you so much for all the time and effort that went into creating this 4 part series!! cheers : )
Thank you! Not to worry about being chicken. I think everyone (I certainly still do at times) feels chicken when looking at those beautiful pages in a blank book. Just remember the book will be much more precious when you fill it with your sketches and your life's journey.
I think your journals are fabulous! I am starting to bullet journal and I want to add watercolor elements to make the journal pages visually more interesting. I might add a quote or a small picture of my cats. Il like the way you make a box with part of the image extending outside of the box. I will continue to look for your tutorials. Thanks so much! 😎

Hi really enjoyed these and you have given me some great ideas. Had lots of problems painting plein air but the viewfinder made me realise I am trying to paint too wide an angle. I actually got one in a pack with a scaler and it's in a drawer somewhere.Thanks.

Where did you get your font/type alphabets from on your handy paper sheet you carry with you? I have been wanting to do that, but the Word Pad program on my computer doesn't provide any fun or fancy ones like that. Is there a place online you know of?
+Jeanette Foster Oh boy can you get carried away getting fonts. If you search the web for free fonts you will find hundreds of fun ones to download to your computer. Then you can print out your own type sheet.
This lesson was very useful. I struggle with getting all the elements to come together in a pleasant way. The video started skipping around the area when you brought out the TYPEFACE sheet. Is that typography one-pager available for download somewhere? It looks super handy to include in my art kit.
I'm glad you found the lesson helpful. I'm sorry the video skips. The typeface sheet is just one I made with different fonts from my computer printed out with all the letters of the alphabet for each font. You can do the same thing. Just find fonts on your computer you like and print them out in a word processing program. Have fun!

I shoulda hadda V-8. :) Btw, I got out in the yard today with a piece of glass, taped for safety, and used a washable pen to "trace" a spot in our yard that I'd like to put in my journal. That tip is invaluable to me since I don't draw well and so much hoped to have a decent watercolor of that spot. {{{Gay}}} for your lessons.

The Art Journey I am glad you enjoyed the classes! You can certainly buy the Strathmore journals online. If you search for online art supplies you will find lots of places to buy them.
I've got some of those pens also and you'd be amazed at how long a filled pen lasts. I use them at home but I rarely have to fill them. I mainly use mine with Inktense pencils by Derwent and that medium takes less water than watercolor paints too. But even when I use watercolor paints the water lasts for an incredibly long tile.
Good to know Susie! Also like to learn about new products regarding the Inktense pencils. Do you use these dry or wet, or both? I tried some in an art class but was disappointed but they were probably a cheap kind.
Wet, mostly. I even have one I have alcohol in and I use that for blending with my colored pencils. I love mine, couldn't do without then. You have to make sure you get good ones though. Mine were not expensive they were about 12 for a set of 3. Sakura waterbrushes are what I use

Yes, a white sharpie. I use the water based one. It is acrylic, so when it dries it is waterproof. I think it works better than the oil based one.

Something went wrong with the video, it froze and voice got stuck, unable to watch, please fix this, I really want to see the rest, so interesting
I am sorry the video has problems, but if you skip the parts between about 3:30 minutes to 5:00 minutes the rest plays fine. Happy journaling!

It stopped dead.
It starts back up, what I did was just slide it past and it starts back up right around 5:30 or so.
The visual froze for me at 3:41 but audio played for about 30-40 seconds more.
Sigh, I know the video freezes, but it starts up again at about 5:00, so you only miss a couple of minutes.
