  • Here you will see the eighteen hundred series MCI D4500 buses, assigned to Egg Harbor Garage. They will be operating the 559 with service to Atlantic City. Egg Harbor will be swapping out its diesel electric hybrids with these Diesel buses.

    I was checking out a used car in Livingston back in '04 and I had to take a Dunellen bus from Port Authority. On the way back, I happened to get on on those Hybrid buses. That was my first and last time. The ride was experience was rather different.

    Nice. I'm just curious. Why does it seem like NJ Transit tear off the Rear Digital Displays of their commuter coaches?

    Them buses were to suppose to be send to Red & tan coach USA , but instead transit took them for meadowlands and Atlantic City garages !!!

    NJT seems to be putting these new MCI buses on their long distance routes.....mainly routes that serve rural New Jersey (Freehold, Lakewood, Monmouth etc etc). I have not seen one new MCI coach at George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal........ especially after they redesigned that terminal and it looks so nice now.
    All those buses that serve Rockland County still have the ancient coaches.........even some D4000s. They look dirty and the wheels are just covered in soot,
    Also none of these new coaches are present in routes that serve the inner cities such as the 190, and all those other routes that serve Union, Patterson, Secaucus Hackensack etc, etc.
    What is wrong with NJT?

    These nj transit drivers hate these buses too but they're better than those freaking hybrid mci commuter coaches

    I’ve got a general question
    These buses have 2 clear lens led light’s one in the front between the marker lights and a 2nd led just below the rear marker lights (I’ve only seen them on the latest batch of buses)
    I meet them everyday @ the Lincoln tunnel and can’t figure out what’s the reason for it
    I drive commuter coach out of Rockland county, NY and nobody at the company I work for can give me an answer
    Thank You

    • @BakaniSnowpaw

      Still wondering about those lights? Or did anyone give ya an answer?

    • @marvinjgerald6007

      High beams are the front inner most led lights...in the rear near the very top of bus or under the roof marker lights are the little round yellow/amber coasting lights (or the leds that automatically come on when the driver lifts off the throttle). Also in the rear the top most-outer red leds are the brake lights...the inner-most red leds are the park lights that's part of the roof and other marker lights around the coach. And at last the very bottom or last round led is in fact a yellow/amber led turn signal. The very bottom squares are inner red reflectors and outer white or clear reverse/backup led lights respectively. (B•D)

      I may be a little late but those are emergency strobes. There's a foot activated "call police" button in the driver's area that will set those off, changes the sign to say "CALL POLICE 911" it also alerts control center and sends a bogus message over the intercom to pull over or something because of an issue in the area. It's kind of like a silent alarm.

    NJT is a great division however, they are stuck in the past. They don't want low floors and they still want to purchase a ton of diesel buses. Why aren't they in the mindset of going green like many other transit agencies. MCI takes part of the blame too. Why hasn't MCI made an all electric version of the D series?
    When will both entities get with the times????

    • @samuelwinsbacher5201
      @samuelwinsbacher5201 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it has to do with the fact that the diesels are generally reliable and powerful buses, while the hybrids had many mechanical issues and they could barely top a hill.

    • @marvinjgerald6007
      @marvinjgerald6007 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's like Billy Goat said and plus the shear weight and or number of the batteries needed to roll such vehicles defeats the purpose or is simply not plausible beyond the hybrids they already got on the streets.

      The decision to be mostly diesel while acquiring limited hybrid and cng equipment is a great one.
