The EU prices reflect the real cost and not the subsidized cost that China gets by being categorized as a developing nation. The US is working on changing the status to developed nation cancelling subsidized postage.
In fairness, China has gotten really clever with shipping as well. For example, AliExpress has a “pick 3” where every product is $2 or $3 shipped (!) to the United States. How they pull it off is that these are all very small and lightweight items. AliExpress ships and warehouses these items in the US, from where they bundle everything you ordered into a single USPS shipment. They use scale and volume to keep the shipping costs incredibly low while using that volume to make money on the other side, just a few cents at a time. It’s a really impressive operation that the EU has no answer for.

The PIO would be the right solution but Platform IO does not support PIO cleanly yet and due to our speed of development we have avoided using it so far.
@@GaryExplains Darn well went to order 20 for a test stand that needed an SD card anyway and decided I might as well use this board but it looks like shipping to the US is not really an option. Very sad.
I find USB-C a little scary. What happens if I power it with my phone charger, will it know not to draw the full voltage?
Yes of course, otherwise USB-C would be dangerous and useless.
Thank you. Dumb question, I know, but doesn't hurt double-checking :)
My question is do you really need the flash chip? It has 264KB on the processor itself.
Eh? The flash is for storing files, not the same as RAM.
@@GaryExplains oh that sram. That’s my mistake I thought that was storage programming memory.
Good subject well done Gary. Here in the US I can only see about a mass big buy to make sense, I wish these EU + other firms would get their translation act together, why is it that the manual is ALWAYS done last?😄
I feel the same way Arthur! Wish I could find it here in the States
Hi Gary, you said there is a Micro SD card reader, is it read only or can it be an IO device?
Read and write.
Happy to hear that this devices are being manufactured in EU 🎉
If they're manufactured in the EU, then why are they available from "Chinese distributers" at a lower cost?
Out of Europe ship from China???
If you are outside of Europe it is probably better to get a different clone board from China, not the Marple Pico.
Board is inexpensive; shipping cost isn't.
Setting language to English or currency to € doesn't work.
I also don't get why the latter is obfuscated with weird javascript.
Shop seems really questionable.
edit:
Never mind, international is semi officially just in a testing phase, see FAQ.
If only I covered that in the video... Oh wait... I did.
I would like one with wifi and Bluetooth 😊
Some people are never happy! 😜
Shipping kills this clone.
I know the shipping costs are covered in the video, but I send goods from Germany to Spain, heavier and bulkier than a Pi pico and pay a fraction of what they ask for, so I do not think this is normal. That makes the price not so interesting even if I would like to have a bunch of them. Moreover the only option I am given to pay is by bank transfer, like is 1980, sorry, no. Anyone in Romania with a paypal account? we could talk (small) business 🙂
Ardushop themselves are looking for small business partners in Europe and worldwide. You should contact them directly.
AAah, the mythical country of Europe strikes yet again!
Eh?
…but no wifi?
I got 200mb flash storage
So it's effectively $27 ...
Leeeettttsssz gooooooo. I love EU products :D
WiFi?
No
It looks to me it costs more than 5 bucks?.
Seems quite interesting, have to check on shipping though.
