Alice Faye was one of the most beautiful singing stars of the Golden Age and underated by America. Just because I think she threw the towel in at the peak of her career, they never forgot that.
Interesting question, Cindy. I think movies reflect society and it's norms. Sadly, today, everything seems harsh and hard-edged, the world has changed since these films were made, and romance and sentiment are not no longer in vogue. For me, these wonderful musicals are uplifting, joyous and never lose their lustre. Glad you enjoyed Alice on this song....one of my favourites. Thank you for commenting.
MY DEAR MOTHER WAS A aLICE FAN AND YOU'LL NEVER KNOW HER FAVORITE .i WOULD QUE UP ALL THE BEST SNIPPETS FROM MOVIESAND WAS AMAZED.i HAVE 8 OF HER MOVIES AND I CAN'T LET THEM GO.i WS THEREAT MY HOUSE SHE IN MY BED FOR THE FINALHOURS AND I SANG IT TO HER BEFORE SHE LET GO.THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING SUCH SPECIAL MEMORIS.
What a lovely memory to have of your mother's last hours, Chris. I can tell, like me, you are a big fan of wonderful Alice. I have all her films and have tried to share as much as possible for others to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your love of Alice and how much your mother enjoyed her.
One of my favourites too, Andrew. I like this song. Alice and the trio do a good job .... and Alice looks gorgeous as always. Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the clip. Plenty more of Alice on my Channel too! 🤗👏😀
No doubt about that, Mark. I think 'class' is a good description. She always deported herself well on screen and when the cameras had stopped rolling. One of the few who graced on film and privately. Thank you for sharing your love of Alice.
You say the sweetest things baby, Alice sings so beautifully, John Payne was one the best leading men in all those wonderful Fox musicals and Tin Pan Alley one of my all time favourite movies, I wish it had been made in Technicolor like the later Fox lyrical, miracle musicals but with Alice and John Payne in the leads who could could ask for anything more:-)
I love this gem of a film with the beautiful gorgeous sexy hot lovely Alice Faye she and Betty grable makes it completely hilarious and fun to watch classic Hollywood musical too date in those golden years long ago peace everybody😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Ah yes - the "new song becomes popular" montage. That's a fave musical movie cliche of mine, which shows a song's popularity increasing via a parade of especially diverse performers.
Oh dear! Blackface no less. But it wasn't considered offensive then, at least unless you were African American. Things have changed but it's such a charming song...

No one can touch the sweetness and lovliness of Alice Faye!!! How I love her!
Now explain to me why movies today can't be this enjoyable, uplifting, and wonderful?

Music by Harry Warren & lyrics by Mack Gordon
And Elisha Cook, Jr. looking on in the first scene. He was Wilmer Cook in THE MALTESE FALCON with H. Bogart.
This movie had all the great WW1 songs.

Why oh why does the classic portion of Fox Movie Channel play their crummiest material from the early 60s instead of great stuff like this?
Oh dear! Blackface no less. But it wasn't considered offensive then, at least unless you were African American. Things have changed but it's such a charming song...
1940
sweet, but that blackface dance section is really bothersome.
