  • This video shows how to test your water and fertilizer levels. It's important not to over fertilize, resulting in nutrient burn or tip burn (end of leaves become crisp).
We show you how to properly use a PPM meter to test the part per million.
Every plant requires different levels of feeding depending on the maturity of the plant.
Here, we show an African violet that likes a pH of 5.9 range. We also show you again how to lower your pH level after adding your nutrient to your water.
Remember if you are using tap water. Allow the water to sit for 24-48 hours. This will allow the chlorine to dissipate. Chlorine is known to cause death in microbial action of the soil and also harm freshly grown root hairs. If damaged, low intake of water and nutrient will result.
If you have more questions, please comment below. Also, watch our recent videos on the importance of pH in more depth.

I knew tap water had chlorine, never knew it would dissipate though. Nice video 👍

My Environmental Studies professor taught us to fill water bottles with tap water and unscrew the cap a few times and when you don't hear the hiss of gas escaping, the chlorine has left the water and it's safe to drink. Yay science! 😉

@@kimberlylamantia7794 someday I'll get a RO filter. Our water in Cleveland comes from Lake Erie and it tastes good but has chemicals. I just invested in a rain barrel and will use that for my garden next year.
