Seems to me just to be a more simple guy met guys like him in high school and when I was younger. Not saying he's dumb he's just simple and doesn't have energy for jokes or games. Some people are just that way. I wouldn't read too much into it it comes naturally to him. Look at some old footage of Jens Pulver talking about him when they were younger.

I'm a huge Nick fan but also a Robbie fan. I think people are sleeping on how savage Robbie is. Look at the Rory fight. Most of these pro fighters couldn't take the damage Robbie took and just keep coming forward. Calm and chill outside of the cage but absolutely insane in the cage!
I think it also helps that he's super respectful and nice but you can still sense how much of a scary killer he is in the way that he speaks & conducts himself.
The way he didnt go after herb dean after the early stoppage in the askren fight made me a fan. He was upset but he just shrugged and said people make mistakes and moved on with his life. I wish i could approach life like him. Id be a lot happier

Robbie could have declined the fight at 185. He could have asked for more money from the ufc. He could have kept the fight at 170 and took some of Nicks purse for failing to make weight. He could have even demanded a catch weight and forced Nick to cut another 5-10 lbs. Just goes to show the type of fighter Robbie is.

As someone excited to see Nick Diaz come back and fight. Listening to Robby it's hard not to like him. I definitely respect him and his mindset. He's sound and solid

I remember watching that fight when I was new to the sport and thinking this Robbie Lawler guy must be such a bad dude and a villain in the sport. I had no idea until I watched an interview after that he was very mild mannered and relaxed. This sport is amazing.
Robbie is the exact guy you'd want next to you in battle. Violent as all hell, calculated, and has his emotions under control even after just being "stopped".

Robbie is on a different level when it comes to his mental and emotional state. Level headed, and even when he disputed the stoppage against Askren to Herb Dean, he was able to put it aside almost instantly and move on with it all. Amazing role model and will always be one of my favourites.

Yea it takes a sharp mind to just rationalize quickly there's nothing to do about it. He seems like a warrior, fighter but without a Ego. He's just there and apart of it. Compare him to other fighters and you can see he just has no large Ego compared to the rest. He just has full acceptance of what is and what he can do.

I remember watching that fight when I was new to the sport and thinking this Robbie Lawler guy must be such a bad dude and a villain in the sport. I had no idea until I watched an interview after that he was very mild mannered and relaxed. This sport is amazing.
Robbie is the exact guy you'd want next to you in battle. Violent as all hell, calculated, and has his emotions under control even after just being "stopped".

Robbie is on a different level when it comes to his mental and emotional state. Level headed, and even when he disputed the stoppage against Askren to Herb Dean, he was able to put it aside almost instantly and move on with it all. Amazing role model and will always be one of my favourites.
lol that definitely stuck with me from that fight too. He went from psycho angry screaming in Herb Dean's face to forgiving him and telling him he's a hell of a ref all in the span of like 5 seconds.

Yea it takes a sharp mind to just rationalize quickly there's nothing to do about it. He seems like a warrior, fighter but without a Ego. He's just there and apart of it. Compare him to other fighters and you can see he just has no large Ego compared to the rest. He just has full acceptance of what is and what he can do.

People forget Robbie was a middleweight most of his outside UFC career had a lot of vicious knock outs particularly his Melvin Manhoef and Frank Trigg KO’s which were both LETHAL, and was a strikeforce middleweight champion.
