- We ordered new Gnarwhals from Packraft Europe. Another one with WW deck and another one is multi-color self bailer. We also bought HMG Porter 5400 with the Stuff Pocket. We also have VE paddle in the package!

Hi Caj - did you use or like the self bailer more or the on with WW deck? I just found out, that Alpacka allows customizing the Gnarwhal by their "Custom Lab" option and I am thinking about combining both in one Gnarwhal - self bailing floor AND WW deck ... so to have self bailing function as the normal and more easy to use modus, but I can cover if wind and weather get stronger and colder ... not sure if that would make sense ;-)
Hi, your explanation makes perfect sense and I know some people using that setup, where you have both options. I don't really know where I should need the WW deck. In my opinion, it's not colder to be without the deck, the difference is so small, that you can compensate it by putting more mid-layer under the drysuit.
I have used a self bailer on bigger lakes with a strong wind and -2 celsius. It was still warm enough and I think, I will not paddle in any colder situation.
But having that option will work. You will get the option to use the deck also if needed.

now that Katia has had her boat for awhile, has the selfbailer seat worked ? is she comfortable paddling the Gnarwhal ?
Also Caj, Do you find that your feet are always in the water ? how have you found keeping warm ?
Yes, she likes the seat and it works. These days Katja has Wolverine with same method. With my Gnarwhal me heals are only a little bit in the water. I have usually 1-2 pairs of merino wool socks + my drysuit socks and it keeps me warm. I had no issues with coldness.
