    In the late 90's I built the Schneider Sonax Mercedes and later the D2 Mercedes (about 85 decals for that car..lol) I loved building the DTM cars of old, from the Alpha to the Merc's

      but what Peugeot engines, but where do you originate such nonsense? Do you know that Peugeot built and supplied engines to the Alfa Romeo racing team for the DTM championship? and where were the Peugeot engineers in the garage? hidden in the closet perhaps? the regulations stipulated that the engines used for the cars were derived from the series, but what exactly had to be taken from the series engine? the same angle of the v and the same distance between the cylinders. stop. so was it necessary to use the block of that engine? no absolutely, it was only necessary to respect these 2 parameters and these parameters had to match the measurements taken by an engine used by the brand in series production. for the first 3 years, an engine derived from the V6 Busso Alfa Romeo was used, with a 60 degree inclination. but the v of 60 degrees gave some limitations and therefore engineer Limone opted for a 90 degrees. In Alfa Romeo production there was only one engine with a 90 degree V, and it was the Montreal V8, but this engine had a cylinder spacing that was too small. Searching through the documents, it was discovered that for a few years, the Lancia belonged to Alfa Romeo and in the Thema model, the V6 PRV engine was installed, which was the only V6 produced in Europe with a 90 degree inclination. consequently for the 96 season, both engines were homologated, one derived from the Montreal V8 and the other derived from the PRV, but only the second was used on the competing cars. but the Peugeot people don't even know what the Alfa Romeo ITC engine is. so, let's not talk nonsense.

      @@motoessentials the championship was over, it wouldn't have lasted anyway, the fia at the hands of Ecclestone did everything to kill this championship. the cars had become as expensive as a Formula 1 and the minimum use of 6 cars was imposed, therefore, the costs exceeded those of F1. Then the FIA had put races on the calendar which forced the teams to race in Japan today and the following week on the other side of the world, with unsustainable shipping costs for the machines and materials and also in some races, the teams were forced to purchase 10,000 tickets for the grandstands. the championship was annoying and was abolished.

    • @motoessentials
      @motoessentials  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lucaiervasi8515 Now you have modernity. A well planned out calendar across only Europe. Gives teams more time to prepare and test.

      @@motoessentials what does it have to do with today? where is the ITC championship held today? Did I miss something? no, because the ITC championship no longer exists. the DTM championship died in 1995 and from its ashes, the ITC championship was born, held in just one season, 1996. the old DTM, combined with the ITC, had a very important following and began to compete with F1, especially in terms of it concerned the sponsors, who were starting to abandon f1 in favor of the dtm, this caused a lot of annoyance at the top levels and everything was done to suppress the championship, with absurd rules and timetables designed to make life difficult for the teams. in 2000 the DTM championship returns, but it has nothing to do with the old one, especially as regards its media relevance, which is not at all comparable to that of the 90s. Furthermore, today we race with cars strictly derived from the series. We need to clarify one thing, the ones we see in this video are not the Opel Calibra, Alfa 155 and Mercedes 190 or Class C. but they are prototypes dressed with the bodywork of production cars. as I had already explained in my other comment on the engine, the regulations stipulated that it was necessary to respect the dimensions of the production cars chosen to compete, but did not impose the use of the original bodywork. the 155 of the dtm had nothing taken from the standard one, it only had a carbon fiber bodywork which faithfully reproduced the standard one, but this did not cover the chassis of the standard 155, but covered the body of a prototype. if you open the rear bonnet of a 155 itc, you will see the asphalt underneath, in the bulkhead of the rear seats, you will see the active push rod suspension, if you remove the front bonnet, you will not see an engine installed inside an engine compartment, but you will see an engine that it also acts as a load-bearing element of the body. essentially, those cars were F1 cars with covered wheels. and as such, they had very high costs. Today, the DTM is raced with GT cars, which are something completely different.
