Is the matrix diag(1/50, 1/200) something like the hessian of f at the point? I have an intuition of it having the role of changing the metrics locally, but I can't catch it properly
Ok, I think I get it. The hessian simply penalizes the x direction for a factor of 200 and the y direction for a factor of 1/50.
