Let me tell a sotry about this song... Had a younger, very nice brother. But he discovered a cancer some years ago. Can remember the day when he had some diagnostics that said it entered remission. That was such a happy day. At that time, i didn't know how i could convey my words of happiness, but we listened to this song, for he was a Touhou fan too and he loved Yuyuko and Youmu. His word: "at the border between life and death, we still dare". It has been a almost a year since he left this world. But i still dare listen to this song. I do always cry, but i still listen to this piece or art. The memory of that day, the smile in his face i remember that all. At the border between life and death, we still try.
I'm sorry to hear for your loss. But in a sense, I guess you're right about "At the border between life and death, we still try". It's human nature to try to cling to life as long as we can, even if it's a desperate attempt to do so. We feel like if death were to show up at our front door, there's no helping but to let him in. But, even when odds seem to be stacked against people, they still try their hardest, hoping for that slim chance to occur. Even if some people don't have the luck that others do, they still try their hardest, giving them hope for better things.
funny how border of life is both my favorite touhou og song and demetori cover. maybe it's obvious why, but i don't think it's that simple, i just really love how they arranged this one here. even though i also love their newest rearrangement of it, id say this one is by far more touching for me
