      @franklee8483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      If Christianity is right, then having respect for the opinions of people who are leading themselves to hell would be to advocate their demise. If I say red means stop and green means go, and someone else believes it's the other way around, it's not that I don't respect them, it's that I love them and I don't want them to die in traffic. If we love people, it's not a matter of us not having respect for others, it's a matter of us wanting to set people free from the prison of thinking that God doesn't love them which they don't even realize they are in. The love of God hurts those who choose to trust what the world tells them, but the love of God frees those who choose to believe what His Word tells them, and you shouldn't criticize a system of belief for being sincere, honest, and loving, by falsely labeling what true Christianity is as disrespectful. Christ dying for our sins to set us free from them is anything but disrespectful.

    • @franklee8483
      @franklee8483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@catatoblob8598 You said, "based on no evidence", even though Christianity itself is the basic logical conclusion anyone with even just a decent amount of sense would come to if they weren't self-focused and instead were willing to acknowledge the evidence that the entire universe offers them every single day. Christianity is the only religion that isn't merely based on either philosophy or unverifiable claims, but historical accounts that can be verified by extra biblical sources, not to mention fulfilled prophecies that cannot be denied when honestly evaluated. Not to mention if Christianity weren't the one true faith in the world, then why is it that there is a spirit of anti-Christ everywhere you look in our fallen world of sin and selfish greed? But there isn't a spirit of anti-Buddha, or anti-Hindu, or anti-Daoism, etc. everywhere in the world because people who are self-focused don't want the truth of their behavior made known to them, and Christianity is the only religion that forces people to face the wickedness of their own depravity in rebellion against God (against Love itself).
      This is why Christianity makes people angry, because it forces them to acknowledge the Truth, the truth of themselves, and the truth of God, and the truth of the value He has placed upon the life of every human soul, and that is evidence in and of itself that Christianity is the only path to the Truth. But it goes even further, because logical deduction alone brings you to Christ, because the universe couldn't exist without a God, and an infinite and eternal God would not create a universe of unimaginable suffering which He himself would have to be subjected to unless He had a sufficient reason for doing so (Love), being that an infinite and eternal being would be all-consuming, meaning anything that happens within his creation He himself would have to endure (suffering). Psalm 139:8, "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there." Without the love of God being given to us, we wouldn't be able to see the light in the darkness of our self-deception, and even though the Truth of God's love for us comes with a certain amount of pain due to our rebellion against him, it is only by pushing through that pain that we can be brought into the light on the other side. Christ is the one who tore that veil, and without him all we have are opinions, but he is the Truth, and through his love for us we can know the Love of God for us, but only if we accept it by accepting what he did for us, both on the cross and in the tomb, when he conquered the death that sin leads us to, because he gave us the power to overcome it and to roll the stone away. You say there's no evidence, but every man and woman on the face of the Earth whose life has been utterly transformed for good, who have been brought out of the darkness of self-deception and into the love of God, they are testimonies to the glory and the Truth of God's Word. They are the evidence, every other religion falls short.
      So here is a comment from a friend of mine who put it very nicely explaining how Christianity can be concluded by basic common sense... (another post)

    • @franklee8483
      @franklee8483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@catatoblob8598 JAY DEE: "Man Eleazar, for someone who makes a lot of claims about the Bible, you sure don't understand it very well. Abraham's son was not meant to be sacrificed. God showed Abraham that because Abraham was willing to obey God (Love - 1st John 4:8) to whatever extent Love / God commanded him, God would send his own Son to take the place of man, so that our own son's (like Abraham's) would not have to pay their own price. But in order to receive that gift, one must be willing to accept it, which means not squandering it by choosing to pursue sin instead of God, / Love, because that is not acceptance, it's rejection. A God of love would not force his will upon anyone, because forced intimacy (making someone do what you want) otherwise known as rape, isn't something that a God of love would ever do. And Yes, we can know for certian that if there is a God, who has a mind, He is Love in his very nature and in his character, and NO, it isn't wishful thinking. Why? Because of simple logical deduction, and basic common sense. I'll elaborate: Everything that comes into existence has a cause, and everything produced by a cause contains attributes of the cause that created it. For example a cause cannot produce an object that can move unless its cause (or its creator) is capable of momentum itself. An apple seed cannot produce an orange tree, something without a mind cannot produce a thought, etc. The only known source of information that human beings know of is a mind. For example if you see a coded symbol written in a language delivering information, you know a mind is behind it. And what do we know about all life? DNA is a chemical language encoded by symbols as a means of delivering specific information necessary for anything alive to exist. All living things move towards that which is desirable and away from that which is undesirable, and willpower removes obstacles from its path. If a living mind has been produced into the world, then a mind was necessary to create it because nothing can produce something which it does not possess inherently. A mindless universe cannot produce a mind, much like a chicken egg cannot come into existence unless there is a chicken to lay the egg.
      The science all points to Deism, so how do we then get to Christian Theism, here we go:
      If there is a mind powerful enough to create the universe, then nothing can stop it from pursuing that which is most desirable for it. The most desirable thing that all human beings know of is love, and when we look at every other emotion besides love we see that love is responsible for all of it. Every other emotion is a byproduct of love itself; for example even hatred is only the product of someone losing what they love. If you hate the taste of something, it is only because it took away the neutral state of comfort you normally enjoy when you aren't tasting anything and then it replaced that neutrality with something worse. You loved the neutral state, you lost it for something worse, now you hate that which took away what you loved, etc. Every other emotion is contingent upon love, our emotions determine how we feel, and what we feel determines what we desire, and as we have already established all forms of life (with minds) move towards that which is desirable. If God exists, He transcends all of that which we see in existence but contains all of the needed components necessary to create it. If our desires all revolve around love, stem from love, and are based on love, then love is the central beginning and end of every mind, the alpha and the omega of consciousness. God is self-aware because self-awareness is present in the universe, and God is the central beginning and end of everything that exists, including consciousness. So what is God? God is love, the thing around which all life orbits, specifically self-reflective intelligent life (the capacity to think about thinking), which is something only human beings possess. because as the Bible says we are made in the image of God. Life without love is like life without life, it simply doesn't work, and by trying to remove that which is the center of all life you are only creating an infinite void which only the one who belongs on that throne can fill. People can do that if they want, because God is love, and He has given us free will, but there are consequences which come with doing so, just like there are consequences for walking into a mine-field (sin) without a mine-detector (God's Word). You can do that if you want, but when you hear the click and you look around for someone to save you, and no one is there, remember, no one is there because you chose for no one to be there. Psalm 50:22, "Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, and there be none left to rescue". Revelation 14:10, “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:” and finally John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
      Why? Because God is Love, but He is also infinitely Just, and the cross is the place where God's righteousness (His Justice) and his Love (His Mercy) meet, and salvation is the place where forgiveness and repentance meet. That's why the cross was necessary, to show us what it is we are truly doing when we sin, to give us the Spirit (the inspirational force) to repent and to turn to God for forgiveness. You could however turn away from sin, and receive the Spirit whom Jesus died on the cross to give, where every sin is washed away, where failures cannot be mentioned unto those within, where peace reigns eternal, where righteousness leads the way, and where that old reflection in the mirror has a permanent smile stretched across it that no one can ever take from you. Matthew 7:14, "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." where "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away." - Revelation 12:4 I'll pray for you, but until you kneel before God yourself, and say your own prayer to him personally, for God to answer my prayer He's going to have to hit you with some Truth that you may not like very much until you have willfully chosen to receive it. Until then, the Truth to those who reject is like Hell, because "our God is a consuming fire" - Hebrews 12:29. But once you have accepted him, He is like paradise, "the fountain of living water" - Jeremiah 17:13"

    Growing up a Christian we had this subconscious fear if we questioned any of what we were taught we would be judged. So its hard to remove yourself from it.
    Luckily I began to have spiritual experiences that weren't talked about at church or in the bible and figured there's more to God and the universe than we were taught. So I began to follow my heart and my souls yearning to leave the place I no longer resonated with. And leaving was the best thing I could of done for my mental health and my life. Reflecting back, having a wider perspective, I didn't even realise I wasn't questioning things for myself, I was a sheep and I was also blind to how hypocritical Christians can be and how the bible really does contradict itself.
    Its a book made by people hundreds of thousands of years ago that's been so rewritten and lost in translation that the true message Jesus was preaching was lost within the dogma and unnecessary traditional laws/ biased judgement towards people not like their own that he was trying to stop that now it's just a book of confusion, and though it helps you get onto a spiritual path it keeps you in the dark.
    I believe all religions are a piece of the puzzle, science is one of those puzzle pieces too and that Jesus and Buddha and other religions figures who were hundreds of years ahead of their time came to teach us of the knowledge being unearthed today about the spiritual aspect of the universe that many indigenous peoples already knew, that we are one with the universe and God is within and we reap what we sow with manifestation.

For man to conflict an ingrained belief is only to restrain the spirit and hold it hostage. Sending a message is one thing. Forcing one to believe it, is absolutely another. See how simple that is? 0:10 *Yes, Christianity was a very positive infuluence of the life in Roman Empire. It imporved position of women and slaves: by it's detractors it was called 'woman's religion'; many slaves were freed and all were required to be recognized as fellow humans and Christians, it made Roman Empire to abolish gladiatorial contests with the idea of killing eachother for sports, it stopped practice of killing infants who were deemed unworthy by the patriarch of the family (most of the time female childern), the expansion of charity, creation and spread of first hospitals in Eastern Roman Empire etc.* 0:20 - as I described it very much was true.
    0:35 Yes, people cannot get better or worse as such. We all have the same human nature, and it does not change. People are still the same as they were 2000 years ago. *But we did started to behave more morally and societies get better thanks to Christianity - emphesis on Reason starting with Socholasticism, human rights begginig with medieval canon lawyers etc. People just do not notice things that we have thanks to it, because they are now normal, and we ignore normal things.*
    0:53 *No, we should rather should go for Augustine and other Church Fathers. Theodosian Code was established by emperor Theodosius and not the Church. It was a Roman Law not a document of any ecumenical council or a Bible book.* Even though the Empire converted there was strong will from emperors to control the Church and use Christianity as a mean to unify the Empire. You cannot blame the Chruch or Christianity for that. After the establishment of Christendom, Catholicism was universal idea that tied it whole as one. Many heresies were a danger to peace and all people recognizing themselves as Christian brothers. Que spread of Arianism or wars of religion after Protestant Revolution. 1:16 *Why arbitrarly decide which book matters the most? Just to support your point?*
    *As was pointed out by Barth Erhman most of the time Christians, Pagans and Jews lived together quite peacefully. The Roman Law was not very enforcable at the time, and the decline of paganism in RE was graudal and not enforced.*
    1:35 This is definetly not true. They were not treated like 'subhumans' or 'demons'. And the Church does not have enemies it attacks ideas not people. But it did sometimes fight people to stop their ideas, in better and wors ways and for better or worse reasons. In a sense heretics are suffering form a sickness, if by that you mean being influnenced in false and often dangerous ideas. I think this quote from Chesterton best explains it:
    " *On this map of the mind the errors are marked as exceptions. The greater part of it consists of playgrounds and happy hunting-fields, where the mind may have as much liberty as it likes;* not to mention any number of intellectual battle-fields in which the battle is indefinitely open and undecided. *But it [the Church] does definitely take the responsibility of marking certain roads as leading nowhere or leading to destruction, to a blank wall, or a sheer precipice.* By this means, it does prevent men from wasting their time or losing their lives upon paths that have been found futile or disastrous again and again in the past, but which might otherwise entrap travelers again and again in the future. The Church does make herself responsible for warning her people against these; and upon these the real issue of the case depends. *She does dogmatically defend humanity from its worst foes, those hoary and horrible and devouring monsters of the old mistakes.* "
    1:43 *Yes, we know how to cure heretics. Through persuasion. This is how it was done most commonly through 2000 years of Church's history.* Even 1200 years after Christ when for the first time ever Inquisition was created because of a very dangerous heresy of Catharism, it dealt with death sentences as a very last resort (5% of trials).
    4:40 *I completly disagree, Christianity was not 'preapering way' for colonialism. Missionaries were most of the time very geniuine.* Their purpouse was always to spread the Gospel, there was no intent to preapere any way. *Christianity came to Eastern Africa, to Nubia or Ethiopia, houndreds of years before colonial epoch even started.* You can also see that in what Jesuit and Capuchin missionaries did. E.g. after Kongo became Christian in 15th, it was recognized as part of Christendom and remained a free kingdom until 19th century. Christian missionaries in China or Japan (which were not colonised) were also going there and the colonial powers did not went there until 19th century. (I also do not see anything wrong with commerce) Christianity was always for every people in the same way. It is true that some missionaries went to different countries through colonialism but they were just using it as means that allowed them to fullfill the mission of evangelization. It is also true that colonial powers were using Christianization for their own benefit but this is not the faut of the Church or Christianity but of the colonizers themselves.
    5:10 *I think this is a very good example to show that Christian missionaries were very respectful to grains of truth in every culture and eager to adapt already existing beliefs, as well as morally neutral customs and traditions that were not contrary to Christian ethics and to use native myths to point to the Truth of Christian theology and doctrine. I do not know what was specific morals and myths of those people but it would be important to ask if Christian ethics and theology was not the fullness of Truth, more healthy and more ethical than preexisting ones to evaluate if that was a good thing to do. Cultures are not equal.*

If you Check your be-LIE-fs well, challenge all superstitions as I have for many years, you will notice a Devil does not exist. The Bible is plagerism Cuneiform tablets, Pagan ways (do not have a Satan), and more. The Tablets have been translated correctly, throw the Bible away and read Cuneiform. You can worship anything that doesn't exist if that's something you choose to do. Worshiping a Devil is the same as Worshiping a Redwood Tree that has wings and flies around the world. It's goofy, and without any reason. If you read the Bible Completely, and I do mean Completely, you'll notice how sadistic that book god is, and that it supports slavery, as does "Jesus".

    for sure it is a force for good if lived as it is supposed to be lived. As humans are humans they tend to distort it and make compromises where no compromises should be made. In africa it was a very strong force for the good as it tried to stop polygamie, human sacrifice, the raiding and selling of slaves and other very immoral practices as for example the selling of unborn as wives to future husbands. Yes, these things are still practiced to a certain extend but at least the spread of the gospel brought a general moral codex, where there was no moral codex. Christians remain humans but the gospel they are spreading is a message of love and great inner and outer freedom. So yes, definitely a force for the good in man.

God was the bieng who would tell humans to not worship any other idol but in the new testament, God doesn't mention the worship of other gods rather he just simply mentions, follow christ and you'll be free from sin.
