Brilliant movie - colour palette, casting, plot and action - kollywood is the best! Aishwarya and Trishna in the same movie - am I in heaven, or what? This movie deserves all its plaudits and success - what a triumph - I would pay the entrance fee for the demon song alone

Love this movie so much. Aside Baahubali 1 & 2, Jodhaa Akbar, this has become one of my most beloved Indian movie. I watched an abridged version on Qatar Airlines with English subtitles… it’s unfortunate I found the full movie here but no English subtitles 😢😢😢😢 someone please help us international fans with English subtitles 😢

Karthick is the hardest worked actor in this movie ponnian selvan 1. First and foremost credit goes to karthick and then jayam ravi. Aishwarya Rai did double roles? As the lady on elephant and the queen...from actresses point of view she did really well. All other middle aged Tamil actors now (heros in the past), like parthiban, prabhu etc...did a great job too - good palace team.
Trisha was too stiff and acted like a king rather a queen. She could have acted as male character.

that's how Kundavai is written to be by Kalki in the books. She very rarely opens up emotionally and is constantly holding her guard up both in public and amongst her family - it's essentially what is expected of her as the empire's princess. That's why it's a big deal when she falls for Vandiyathevan and we see Kundavai finally open up during that boat scene.
