That last chorus with Adam D harmonizing. His vocals are always on another level.
Chillswitch Engage instantly reminded me of Sean Townsend's work here on YT - he does piano covers of KsE songs and it's absolutely majestic.

Hymn of a Broken Man is one of the most underrated metal albums of all time. New album is fantastic too! Glad this project has returned.
Also, Chillswitch Engage is what you would use to describe Sean Townsend. He does beautiful piano renditions of KSE songs.

@@timothyholland2927 I would have to be there? Considering he’s one of my favorite guitarists ever, along with Adam D, and I mean Adam D and Jesse just being high up on my list in general.
But yeah there’s talks of him not being in As I Lay Dying. And the band or nick hasn’t released any type of official statement as far as I know. Kinda really makes me sad 😢
The new album is amazing. Doesn’t quite unseat Hymm Of A Broken Man for me (that album is just perfect) but still very, very good. I love how much Jesse’s and Adam’s voices have improved.

You gotta think times of grace first album Jesse wasn’t back in the band, they I’m sure Jesse and Adam were itching to write heavy shit together. This latest album, Jesse has been back in killswitch for what 9 almost 10 years now. Why would they wanna write killswitch engage 2.0? I’m glad they went a different direction
@@centralia83 I get what you’re saying. But it’s not like the first Times Of Grace album was KSE 2.0 either. There was still a lot of experimentation, and songs that would never fit on a Killswitch album. Like Willing, The Forgotten One, Fall From Grace, etc.
The bluesy sounds in Jesse's voice always remind me about his "Seemless" times. This band was soooo good
Those two Seemless albums are the best work he’s done.
It pains me every day that seemless didn't carry on.
I could happily disregard all music and listen to them 2 albums forever.

Really heavy album from Adam and Jessie is Killswitch Engage's first EP(and it's remastered version). This is album of grown up people, who don't have teenage-like anger, but more melancholy and sadness. As much as I love theirs metalcore side, this IS theirs best album. The guys definitely evolve, and become more grown up

Time Of Grace released their first album when I was depressed and angry at the world. I'm so much more chill now and a stoner. This new album is sounding so chill and atmospheric, I adore this sound they're going with.

Times of Grace first album The Hymn Of a Broken Man is the reason I am still alive today. Had I not found that album when I did, I would definitely not be here now.

This is the kind of song that should be number one in the charts.
the biggest difference between Killswitch and ToG are the lyrics and the themes as ToG is meant to deal more with Depression and Mental Health and so on, which is why i was actually surprised when they released I Am Broken Too as KSE and not as ToG
I'm surprised they continued Times of Grace at all honestly... Seemed to me like Jesse and Adam's "let's try to make an album as good as Alive or Just Breathing again WITHOUT having to kick the black guy with a good voice out of Killswitch.. Because you left and all.. Y'know.. Jesse.." and then when Jesse joined KsE again I thought it'd be like welp, we're making music together again so let's go with the more popular band and GOODBYE times of grace.
Although I do know that Tog definitely has more of a mental health and potential spiritual/religious theme to their songs.. But still..
They did not achieve AoJB status unfortunately.. Not even close.. The last album (I think) had some good at least. This song BLOWS. I haven't been this disappointed since All that Remains' first song with Jason Richardson. That was some hot garbage...
@@danielnelson4881 Well, this is an incredibly bad take. The album needs to be listened to in it's entirety from beginning to finish and the song fits within the context and flow of the album. A lot to ask of people I know.

I do, however, think it IS a lot to ask of people that they have to listen to songs within the context of the album...? You expect everyone to listen to the entire album just to think a song or two is good? That's not a very approachable band you're describing... Even in the context of the album I'm quite sure I think this is a boring and not very good song though. Like I thought about new Killswitch, all the ToG I've heard, etc. J
@@danielnelson4881 I will give you this much; this is probably the weakest song on the album. Not that it's a bad song, but every single song on the album resonated with me so much more than this one.
That said, the album is an experience much like the 1st album. They aren't looking to write hit singles here. This is an album meant to be listened to from beginning to end to appreciate the full experience.
It's been a minute since I heard this band. The forgotten one is a killer acoustic riff.

I was so happy to hear they are releasing an album. I loved the last one and wasn't sure they would with Jesse going back to Killswitch
It's rather strange how I listened to this at the time and didn't really take to it.

My favorite songs were always the slower/ more chill songs from metal / core bands. Even old killswitch, all that remains, etc always had either a slow song or instrumental that was always amazing.

This group of people KSE (+ Mr. Sir Howard Jones) - their talent like has no limits. Like knows NOOOOOOO limits. They keep adding and adding new stuff in very different styles and ways showing only one thing - TALENTED as hell people blessing us with their music and art.
this song kinda reminds me of Always, in terms of the song structure, but a very strong evolution of it. You can really see how much Jesse has improved since the early days of KSE, and how much better the songwriting is between him and Adam.

For nice baselines, I recommend Scale the Summit, especially the Migration album. No vocals, but the instrumentals are great.

Times of grace’s first album just sounded like killswitch engage with Jesse being back in the band. At the time he wasn’t in the band. At least for the most part, some songs sounds like this latest album. This latest album sounds like they wanted to do something completely different from killswitch engage. I’m glad they did, I don’t want a killswitch engage 2.0
There’s only like four songs on their first album that could belong on a Killswitch record. The rest is either way too melodic or way too experimental. It’s a different band.

@@nolankuffner3573 I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. I don’t think it’s wrong for Times Of Grace to be more experimental. I think we all went into this new album with the knowledge of it being less heavy than Hymm Of A Broken Man in mind. They made us well aware of that. Which is good, because it helps distance them from the inevitable KSE comparisons which really don’t make sense to me. I didn’t want this album to be heavier lol.
As far as recent KSE goes, I love it. Disarm The Descent, Incarnate, and Atonement are all badass albums. They’ve gotten slightly more melodic, but it doesn’t bother me. KSE _is_ a more aggressive outlet for Jesse whereas Times Of Grace is not as intense, but more introspective and deep.
If you want build ups to massive powerful outro's, this new TOG record is for you.

I watched a recent interview with Adam D and he said he hates doing music videos. Oh and release parties. Lol
Some people are making comparisons between Hymn of a Broken Man and Songs of Loss and Separation, we have to understand that both are totally different albums, different proposal, this album is less heavier and more mature, both fulfill their purposes in a magnificent way. SOLAS only will completely pleasure someone that loves "calmness" songs.
