This is insanely brilliant. As a professional pianist and having studied percussion...this was everything I needed in my life today. Thank you so much for sharing!
What I love about this is the respect you have for the music. So many out-of-genre versions of music just kind of take the tune and do whatever, but this one really shows that you know the original and really like it. Also, you clearly know what you're doing anyway. You know the style that you're turning it into. You're just good at this is what I'm saying.
Joachim, One of my all time favorite pieces of music is Beethoven's 7th...allegretto. Well, cuban, salsa and latin jazz are a huge part of my life, so when I heard this recording, I was floored and probably cried a little...Lol. You're a genius for combining the two as beautifully as you did. I listen to it at least 10 times a day and I don't anticipate stopping at any point. Thank you for giving the world a musical gem. I'm a fan.
Thank you for all the nice comments! I am going to make more videos like this, where I take an arrangement, turn it on it's head in a Cuban style. Please subscribe to this channel and join my email mailing list to find out more about this project, and ultimately, when I might be playing a show in your area - www.joachimhorsley.com/#newsletter Best Wishes everyone!!!
After listening to an orchestral version of this movement, I've realized how amazing you've arranged this. The rumba style you've played perfectly matched the piece, and the original melody is still kept without straying too far off the line, truly amazing !
i am in tears...literally. The saddest of all Beethoven movements has been turned into a fire-breathing Ode to Joy. Ludwig would instantly regain his hearing and go poco loco dancing his ass off until the break of dawn. Maestro, you are a Genius!
This is the most awesome reimagining of an iconic classical piece that I've ever heard. Bravo, Mr. Horsley! I can't stop playing this, smiling. and hearing it in my mind's ear throughout the day!
One of my favorite Beethoven Symphony's, surely he'd be equally amazed with your rendition. Instead of the characteristically somber emotion, we are all up dancing to this! Bravo, ready for more!
It's a real treat to hear/see such originality, more so when my two years-old grandson asks to watch your video while doing his little dance. As a Hispanic who enjoys classical and Spanish music this is a great mix!!!
Crazy! Like his fingers are dancing to the song itself with amazing rhythm and unparallelled precision. At some points, its like two little hand-people just dancing away having a great time😂
I've already seen a lot positive comments about this arrangement and I just had to also say.... "Dude, you killed it!" This is an awesome adaption of the original. I used it as an example in my classroom today to show how new and old are constantly being reorganized in interesting ways. The percussive element of this is on point! Keep it up! I hope to see more fun arrangements. P.S. I'm particularly bias to Beethoven so I wouldn't be opposed to not switching composers haha. Ever thought about re-arragning Beethoven's Sonata no. 21, "Waldstein?" Because I would definitely buy your version of it!
I play my bongo cajon to this every other day. It's part of my practice session. I love how you switch from rumba to cha-cha-cha and back to rumba. Keeps me on my toes Thank you so much.
I just found this video on Facebook and it's simply amazing how you merged my favorite Beethoven piece with my favorite genre of music! Please keep doing what you do! Fan for life from this day.
Nothing short of amazing. The amount of work needed to make this surely can't be underestimated. All the hours in the making, I can only imagine! Bravo! Much much deserved praise.
Best part in my opinion is from 0:00 to 1:39, i just love the energy in the music, I would dance on it all night long. Even if I do enjoy what goes after. That's a huge performance, thank you so much for sharing this with us.
This is really great. Everything has a purpose. A lot of covers and arrangements are unnecessarily flashy and drawn out. This one is flashy, but nothing sounds like it was playing to impress or intimidate. It sounds absolutely necessary to have played it that way. Great job.
I don't have the words to express the joy and happiness this gives me. Clever, interesting...this cover has been playing in my head for six months now. Thank you for this. More please. Well done. If I were wearing a hat I would tip it to you.
Beethoven in Cuba & Sheherazade are on non stop at home!!!! Wonderfull!!!! Congratulations from Argentina ( the other end of the world) Thank you for such marvelous arrangements.
Suggestions for other videos: - Bach passacaille in C minor - Brahms symphony 4, last movement - Rachmaninov 3rd piano concerto, main theme - Mozart piano sonata in A minor, last movement - Mendelssohn scherzo from a midsummer night's dream - Chopin nocturne in C minor - Beethoven piano concerto 4, last movement There are so many!
Holy cow! The whole time I was listening to this I was imagining showing this video to Beethoven and Mozart and what their reaction would be. I bet they would love it!
Rumba! Vamos a bailar a lo cubano!!! Arriba! Thanks very much for doing something so great! My father is cuban, and I've been in Cuba a few times. I am actually a citizen of the Czech Republic! Great job!
On videos like this I tend to find myself sidetracked and clicking elsewhere. This time I found myself stunned all the way through. This is just amazing.
Mr. Horsley - during the last year of her life, I would play music videos for my mom weekly that I knew she would love, and always did. My mom passed away 3 weeks ago. I found this and your other videos the week before she passed and I'm so very sad that I was never able to play these truly awesome videos for her. She always said that "I feed her soul". You feed my soul and I will remember her memory every time I play your videos - especially this one. Thank you!
Oh my, I'm so sorry for your loss. What a kind and touching thing to say, and thank you for sharing this personal experience. I'm sure it's a very challenging time for you. Your words here are very much appreciated and give me real energy to keep going with this project. I'm wishing you all my best. Take good care of yourself!
That is a statistical problem. The original piece is already genius and the outcome can be on the full range of awful to genius. It is most likely that it is avarage and therefore below the original in quality.
Thank you so much for this very spectacular version of a fantastic piece of music! One of my favourite pieces of all time..and now I can dance to it. Hurrah!
Hi I listened to this in music class at school and when I first watched it I was like ha cool but when I watched it at home it was so good that I turd my head phones up soo loud
I just came back to this song because I forgot how amazed I was the first time I heard this. The thought of rumba comes to my head and this is the immediate song that comes to mind. I've also been listening to your newer pieces and they are all just as beautiful. Keep up the amazing work sir!
this song is perfect

@klop422 he's a genius! I just discovered him, I love piano works and the classics but these improvisations are just mind blowing!
@klop422 Well said!
You can actually hear the 7th in its full form. He did a great job.
Joachim,
One of my all time favorite pieces of music is Beethoven's 7th...allegretto. Arnold Garza thank you, you are very kind!
Are you still listening to the piece?
Yes, update plz
This "interpretation" was probably the last thing Beethoven was thinking about when he wrote this masterpiece, but this remix is absolutely brilliant!
Thank you!!!

OK Joachim, it's done
I HAD to hit subscribe at that fugato. Very nice job!
Please do, I love this!
We are waiting for your new videos!
And come to play in Japan, too!!!
Thank you for making a video of the arrangement!!
*After all these years, it's still fun to listen to. With a smile on my face, I stamp my foot*
After listening to an orchestral version of this movement, I've realized how amazing you've arranged this. The rumba style you've played perfectly matched the piece, and the original melody is still kept without straying too far off the line, truly amazing !
Thank you Lord for bringing this music to my random TH-cam rabbit hole of awesomeness. I love you so much
Music like this makes me squeamish about calling myself a musician. This level of musicianship leaves me feeling positively humbled, and in awe.
i am in tears...literally. The saddest of all Beethoven movements has been turned into a fire-breathing Ode to Joy. Ludwig would instantly regain his hearing and go poco loco dancing his ass off until the break of dawn. Maestro, you are a Genius!
Thank you!
This is the most awesome reimagining of an iconic classical piece that I've ever heard. Bravo, Mr. Horsley! I can't stop playing this, smiling. and hearing it in my mind's ear throughout the day!
Everything is there . The sublime theme of the 7th of Beethoven, the great rhythm and the Cuban soul that flies us with passion.
Bravo to the artist
One of my favorite Beethoven Symphony's, surely he'd be equally amazed with your rendition. Instead of the characteristically somber emotion, we are all up dancing to this! Bravo, ready for more!
Joachim - you are a brilliant composer, pianist and percussionist - God bless you - may you and your talent thrive!
Ain't no party like a Beethoven Rumba party. Arrrrrrrriba!
It's a real treat to hear/see such originality, more so when my two years-old grandson asks to watch your video while doing his little dance. As a Hispanic who enjoys classical and Spanish music this is a great mix!!!

Ryan Striker thank you so much! That Beethoven sonata is heavy duty! Great suggestion.... :)
Very hard to surpass for anybody -BRAVO!
"What if Beethoven was born in Cuba"...the creativity is universal, indeed.
Thx for your work. Good job.
I play my bongo cajon to this every other day. It's part of my practice session. I love how you switch from rumba to cha-cha-cha and back to rumba. Keeps me on my toes Thank you so much.
Great ! Beethoven loved musical innovation: I think he would have loved.
Off the hook, excellemente!
Inventive, intelligent, and so well performed. Nice videography, too!
Merci, Marie-Sandra!
I never, never thought I'd have accepted to "touch" the sacrality of Beethoven's Symphonies before, but, damn, this is excellent!!
This is the first thing to lift my spirits since November 9.Beautiful.

I hate when someone try to change something from classicals..but i truly love this version.
bravo bravo
It is to be musician to not only repeat classic works but to made somethink with them. To play by our way.

Me encanta, ole! Enhorabuena desde España.
Usually I just despise these types of covers, but this is truly brilliant, comparing the original to this or vice versa is not a fair comparison

Great arrangements! Great musical and visual edition! Congratulations!
