Society has *GOT* to start supporting harsher punishment for animal cruelty. A slap on the wrist is nowhere near being enough. Bless this lovely family who rescued the poor baby. So happy she's loved and safe now! 🙏🏻❤
People who do these things deserve jail time. If they're willing to do something like this to an animal for presumably just being too "annoying" or "too much responsibilty", I'd hate to see what they'd be willing to do to a partner or child that annoys them or "needs to much"...

Back in the early 2000's my mother worked as a flagger for a construction company in rural areas. One day in the heat of July she found a box in the ditch someone pitched the night before. It was meowing. She brought it home. Inside were 2 black and white tiny kittens. They were brothers and healthy. We named them Starsky and Hutch. They loved long happy lives. I'm glad that these guys didn't have to suffer in the box very long. I know others critters are not as fortunate.

It's disgusting how someone could do that. And judging by her temperament right out the box it was clear she had a previous relationship with humans. We definitely don't deserve animals. I couldn't fault phoenix if she hid in a corner and hissed at everyone, but she's willing to love a new family. ❤️

That animals can be so amazingly pure of heart and trusting - despite having suffered such a trauma at the hands of a “superior human” - is baffling me.
Animals do NOT commit - or carry out - such well thought out atrocities such as the one done to this kitten!!!

I've concluded that animals are better than humans. The only time animals act vicious is when they are either hungry or afraid. Humans don't need an excuse to be horrific to other living beings.

I loved this! This is exactly how I found my little one! He was taped into a box and the box was placed in the middle of a street right in front of a grocery store parking lot. My dogs could hear his quiet whimpering and pulled me into the road to investigate the box. I'm so glad they did, because we're almost two years out, and he was the perfect addition to our little family.

I agree. My son saw some boys put a box in the street. He went to investigate and found a tiny chocolate lab in the box. He raised her and loved for many years.
It looks to me as if someone taped the box up so she couldn’t run out and get hurt. They’ve clearly left it somewhere where it would be found quickly. If they’d intended to hurt the cat they’d have thrown it in the river or some such thing.
Who could do such a thing to a baby? Glad she got herself a new family.

The term “cruelty” is a gross understatement to describe this. It’s beyond evil and sickening. I cried profusely, both out of hurt/anger that someone would do something so disgusting but also from joy seeing these angels save this innocent baby in time. Thank god they found this beautiful cat and that she’s safe and well now. To whoever did this, I pray nothing but the worst for them and hope their trip to hell comes early.

When I'm driving and see an intact box on the side of the road, I stop to check it out for this reason. It's just disgusting how cruel some people can be, but I'm grateful for people like this who rescue those in need! What a sweet baby she is 💜💜💜

I do the same, if I see empty topside up boxes on the side of the road or look for a bag that moves in the middle of a road, I'm always keeping my eyes out for them. I can't take anymore in myself, but if I could save even one, its a victory that makes up all the trouble.
I’ve ended up doing the same. I once checked an abandoned looking box and found a guinea pig. We couldn’t keep him cos we have a cat. So we gave him a little carrot and some water then we took him to a vet and explained what happened. He was sent to the RSPCA and put up for adoption and got adopted out. He was lovely (we found out he was a he later on his adoption page).
My fear is if I find another they’ll think it’s me. It’s not, I love pets. I hate that people will just leave them like they’re trash. Gets me so mad. Our little dependents deserve better. I can respect anyone who is honest enough they know they can’t care for them, and kind enough to take the pet to a caring organization for fostering and adoption.
There are a lot of evil people in this world. It's the good people like you guys who make this world worth living, working and fighting for.

I rescued a little one this exact way. It never ceases to amaze me how shitty people can be. What a gorgeous little girl and what amazing, wonderful parents who showed her love ❤️
I worked in rescue for years, and was at a Petsmart when someone discovered a box baking in the 90 degree sun, and there were SEVEN cats inside the box!! We got all out and they were all adopted, but I mean, really. Who does these things? This is a great story.

Someone who apparently couldn't face the "Shame" of giving up the animal to a shelter. There's a wierd emotion-over-common-sense attitude in a lot of society, and that produces a lot of people that would rather sneakily abandon the animal to be found by a new owner rather than openly own up to the fact they can't financially care for it in front of other people because they can't "Handle being thought of badly". (I quote quite literally. I know some people who every aspect of their life is run like that) That cat had some kind of eye/skin infection, maybe mange, and probably the old owner just couldn't afford to treat it.
I’m just trying to imagine how someone could justify putting a cat in a box, taping it up to prevent escape and then throwing it away like garbage 😢🤬 Stuff like this makes me hate people....then someone like the women in this video comes along and reminds me that humans can still be fantastic!

@@spencerthegarfieldfanboy 1. You can love animals and not be vegan of course, but you have to be aware that you're willingly causing harm to animals. Pigs and chickens and cows are held in a cage similar to the box that this cat is stuck in. Both are equally wrong.
2. You can have a balanced vegan diet if you're thoughtful. There's protein in beans and legumes and tofu, there's iron in spinach and other greens. I used to be iron deficient before becoming plant-based. I'm not anymore, and that's because I'm much more conscious of what I eat. I plan my meals more to ensure I'm getting everything I need. It's harder, but it's worth it.
3. People do have allergies and other health issues and not everyone can be vegan in a healthy way. But most people can.
4. Plants are alive but they don't have a nervous system and there's no indication that they feel pain or suffering, whereas we know for a fact that animals do.
I'm putting this out there not to sit on a high horse and judge people. I was a meat and dairy eater for 26 years and I kept finding excuses for myself. I still occasionally have a piece of non vegan cake, I'm far from perfect. But it's important to know and understand what we're doing when we're choosing to eat meat and dairy.
@@haiyde that depends on where you get your meat. I.e. my family always raises our beef and chickens and they have proper pastures and free range for the birds. You're not wrong, but you also can't assume that person solely gets meat from the store.
I love that, though they've been through cruelty, some animals understand the humans who rescue them aren't the same as the humans who hurt them and they get that they deserve to be loved

It seems like an instant bond forms when you rescue an animal. I took my dog out of shelter, into my car, brief stop at home, then to the dog park. That dog was totally devoted to me from that day on. She's been gone fifteen years and I still miss her. I'm a cinch to break Mr. Bojangles record for grieving.
I know the sadness will never totally go away. But I hope someday your heart is mended as much as possible because your doggie would want you to be happy!

I know it feels like it at the basic level, but all you are doing is then creating a community of stray cats that will breed and destroy the local wildlife. If you want to help the cats, get them to homes or shelters at the very least. I love critters, but you have to think further than just feeding stray cats like strange old lady in Mary Poppins.

@@pawwalker3492 aww...all of mine are rescues also. My cat Toothless really does have teeth and she can use them well...on my arm. She is still feral. But learning. 2 others are much older than her but just as awsome. So I could never and have never walked by an animal that needs help....

We have a few things in common- 30 yrs ago I had a Chihuahua named Oliver. 25 yrs ago I had a white & ginger cat named Pheonix.
And just nearly 3 yrs ago I found a cat zippered into a bag & tossed at the river. He is spoilt wrotten and nearly 3! He *runs* this place, lol!

What a lovely cat. You can really tell how much she appreciates her rescuers. I’m really at a loss how anyone can do that to any creature and it makes me think about how they’d treat other people never mind pets. I don’t think a child would be safe around such a person.
I’m glad this cat got rescued but it saddens me how many more get abandoned in such a way. Some people are just horrible.
I once found a guinea pig trapped in a box and we couldn’t keep him (we had a cat) so we gave him a little food and water and took him to a vet, he later got adopted via the RSPCA (we looked him up). It was so sad and I’m glad I found him.
