    AYE!!!!! Thank you tons! I got my ct200 yesterday with 80k miles and this worked flawlessly. I thought I needed a new pair of struts 😮

    Brilliant! I've had the same knocking noise for months and it's been driving me mad! I managed to turn the top nut by 16th of a turn, maybe an 8th but no more. The bottom nut was solid so I didn't hold out much hope but it worked!! No more knocking noise, I am absolutely delighted, thanks you so much from Budleigh Salterton, UK!

      Excellent! I think the first place I saw mention of this was on a UK forum. I'm guessing the very end of your bolt is stripped if they are that tight. Some others seem to stretch. I'd suggest when you have time to replace it with one from a hardware store. I haven't yet, but probably will and then will add the specs in the description.

    There is a tiny rubber coupling goes wrong next to wheel steering motor if that doesn't help

    I have a 2012 Prius and its the Damper Electric in the steering motor… clunk clunk sound over cracks on road, pot holes….

    Have a 2012 Prius making clunking sound going over bumps around the driver area dash, steering column… tried tightening the steering nut like shown but still there…. not sure where else to check.

      2016 and newer prius have a cheap damper piece in steering column that needs replaced. I have same car as you, and i havent fixed it yet, but i think spline on steering column needs repacked with grease.

      @@radrcer i tired replacimg the intermendiate steering shaft and that didnt work, but it did help with a tighter steering. not sure what to try next, front left shocks? it seems to be okay, checked all the bolts on the top shocks and it was tight, even the middle nut.

    Great video. I had the same sound from my 2011 CT200h, tried this and it’s gone.
    Took to the mechanic someone said it’s steering assembly and some said shocks and whatnot.

    • @57squared
      @57squared  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't recall if I said it in the video, but you can put your head under the dash and move the wheel to see if you hear it from either lower or upper joint. But at that point you may as well tighten the bolts in case they are loose anyway.

    Hey, i think i have the same sound, it generally only occurs over corrigations in the road and it low speed. My mechanic suggested it could be the electric power steering assist that may need replacing, Lexus said if it's what they think it is it would be a $800 fix (I had to record the sound and send it to them as I'm 4 hours away return from the dealership).

    I have that same rattle but mine were pretty fkin tight. I couldn't even tighten them. I don't wanna break the bolt

    • @57squared
      @57squared  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen pictures of some of the bolts where the end is stripped so the bolt is tight but the threads that pinch the shaft are stripped and failed. You can back it out and see if that's your case. If it is, then replace it with one from the hardware store. Another potential is the column/shaft itself, but hopefully not.
