So he gave the tempo an upgrade.
And he made it into rock because thats his game.

The format of the show forces the songs to be maximal 3 minutes, so he was forced to speed it up, as Nightwish songs are generally much longer. In this episode Floor sat on the main couch and the other 7 singers chose songs of her or with a special meaning to her. The song 'The Phantom of the Opera' came from the last (8th) episode which consisted of duets. By the way this is no competition, this show only celebrates music.

No, there's no winner on this show. They sing tributes to each other. It's all very friendly and fun. No competition.

Tim was also the only one on the show that knew of Floor prior to the show. They used to do the same festival circuits prior to Floor joining Nightwish.
The very 1st episode of this season was fun to watch as Henk Poort was the man in the center couch while the others sang to him. Metal being not generally popular in the Netherlands the rest of the singers - sans Tim - didn't know what to expect when Floor stepped up and sang for the first time. Wide-eyed jaw-drop scene all around. OK, we have a serious talent here!
Kudos to the Marcel Fisser Band by the way - they never skipped a beat no matter what songs this very diverse group of singers came up with.

Dutch Springsteen is exactly what I thought when I first heard him too.
There is no winner its not a contest.
The people at the couches are all singers and sing for the singer at the middle couche.
This episode was Floors turn.
Every singer sings a song that has a lot of meaning
for the singer on the middle couche.
Tim sang Nemo for Floor
Emma sang Strong for Floor a song that Floor wrote for her mother.
And so on.
So not a contest just an evening with friends/singers who love to sing.

The format of Beste Zangers is to sing (favourite) songs of the guest of the week, and give it a twist of your own. Not to copy each others song. For karaoke, one watches The Voice or similar shows. It is not a contest, even though the guest of the week is supposed to choose his or her favourite performance of that evening.
I think Tim Akkerman did a pretty good job. Nemo is one of Floor’s favourite Nightwish songs and she was surprised he “dared” to sing it. Because it is (as usual) a long one and he had to make it shorter. I love this up tempo version a lot, because it is not just a cover but a real interpretation.

Floor (and Nightwish) got a boost in the Netherlands (and reactions all over the world) because she participated in a Dutch reality tv-show in 2019 called Beste Zanger (Best Singers). In each series a number of well-known performers alternate as the central artist. The performers pick out songs of this central artist’s repertoire (or a favorite song of this artist) to be sung by the others. The original performer (who is sitting in the middle next tot he host) sort of judges the "covers" of their (or their fav) songs done by the participants. But judging wasn't the issue of this show, but having a fun time with eachother.

I really liked this rendition, he did it really good especially considering he had to speed up a 7 minute song to fit in 3 mins. Ofc we all gonna love Floors version best i mean its FLOOR!
The idea of this show is that 7 singers take turns in singing each others songs. Each episode one of the singers is put in the spotlight and the others take his or her songs and sing them in their own style. Obviously this was a performance from Floor’s episode. It’s not a competition and there is no winner although at the end of each episode the singer in the spotlight has to say which performance moved him or her the most. The whole idea of the show is to celebrate each other’s talent and share the love for music. The last episode is the duet episode where every singer gets to choose a song and a partner to sing it with. Floor chose Henk to sing The Phantom Of The Opera since Henk is Floor’s idol and he has performed the role of the Phantom in the Dutch theater shows very often, so it was on her bucket list 😉.

for this version tim had to speed it up a lot, as they have a time restriction when performing on the show. he did a fantastic job but of course we're all gonna be biased towards preferring floor's version haha!

As far as I know, Tim was the only one who dared to sing a Nightwish song for Floor. And they are very long and this is a tv show. That was what he could do. He had to put the song down on the time. That's why he crossed Speedy Gonzales with Roadrunner and that's what came out of it. I think there would have been more time ... at least it wasn't the ability.
Actually, Samantha Steenwijk performed Decades, in a Dutch version, which she did really well.

Everyone who sang to Floor on her week tried to sing in a more rocky manner than their usual style. Floor sang Tim's song Winner for him and brought him close to tears as he had written it for his disabled brother. Tim duetted with Floor singing Shallow. Try the Crewish version of Nemo by the Nightwish backstage crew.
🤔 He had only three minutes to do the song. So he speeded it up...But check him and Floor singing together a lady Gaga song in the same show. It is a show where invited singers come together and honour each other by singing songs for each other... Every day there is one singer in the chair sitting next to the host and the other singers sing a song for him or her that has a special meaning for the singer in the chair.
You are right about his ‘Bruce Springsteen’-sound. Actualy, he did a tour in the Netherlands with a show of only Springsteen-songs

These same performers are there for the whole season (8 episodes in total) . They try to choose artists from different genres to mix it up. Each episode is dedicated to one of the artists, and they are center stage, "on the couch" with the emcee, Jan. The discussion between songs goes through that artist's career, how they got started, etc. Each of the other singers chooses a song the featured artist wrote, has performed, or has special meaning for. They each put thier own spin/style to their song choice (For instance, Rolf sang "Hotel California" to Floor...Floor's dad loves the song... with a salsa beat) . At the end of each episode, the featured artist chooses which performance moved them the most...not really about a "winner". Then the last episode is the "duets" episode. Each artist chooses one of the other artists to sing a duet with. The entire show is about enjoying music, each other, and giving support to each other. It's really a GREAT show and premise! Floor opened the 2019 season with "Vilja Lied", singing in German, from the operetta, "The Merry Widow" singing to Henk with a metal twist...Henk's mother used to sing the song to his father, who would always cry. Floor got a standing Ovation from the other artists. Floor then ended the season with Henk with their Phantom of the Opera masterpiece!
You have to see Focus in NY, they had to speed up their own dog Hocus-pocus from 7 to 4.30 minutes.

You only have to chance the artistname to get to an other episode. Theyall tell something about her lives and after each song the other artists give their reaction
Please Tom, you should do the whole episode of the show, than it will make more sense to you and Sarah. I saw that Nimwey put a link to it in her comment. Trust me, you won’t be disapointed. And no, it’s no talent show, it’s more like sharing their music with eachother and trying to step out of their comfortzone by doing other genres. At the end of each show the one in the spotlight is asked witch song or performance impressed or touched him/her the most, so it’s not ment to be as a winner. 👋👋👋from the Netherlands.
"Nemo" is Latin for "no one" or "nobody". "Nemo" is itself the Latin translation of the Ancient Greek Outis ("Nobody"), the pseudonym adopted by the sea-faring hero Odysseus in Greek mythology to outwit the Cyclops Polyphemus. I'll always associate that word with the fabulous Captain Nemo, of Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and "The Mysterious Island".
The setup of the show is a bunch of diff genre singers get together. One is featured each week and the others all sing songs for the featured. They pick songs by the featured one or songs they think mean something to them. All of Floors performances for each artist were stellar. :) worth it to watch all! :)
This treatment was a little too fast for my liking. Possibly timing to meet show requirements but I think a bit slower it still could have been a better banger.

This is Tim his stile.
This is the great thing about this show. For example, Mr. Henk Poort singing "despacito", sittintg on a wooden box while making the rythm with it..., I mean, Despacito... or Floor singing "Que se siente" a salsa song turned into rock, singing in Spanish, which Floor doesen't speak at all ( anyway, she knows enough to say "muchas gracias" in latin american conuntries, which is so nice). Afeter you get in touch with the show and the artists, it's very interesting.
Tim whas the lead singer of the dutch band called Di-rect. Tim akkerman left Di-rect after a view years and he went solo. Wrong call from his side because when he left. The rest of Di-rect go searching for a new singer. They found Marcel van Veenendaal and after that the band goes epic and made nr 1 hits time after time here in Holland and even the rest of Europe. And tim akkerman no hits whatever. He wiil scratch his head after that stupid brainwave. Haha. Maybe you should watch Di-rect and Kensington live at vrienden van amstel . doing a cover of 4 rock songs. All big hits. I will put a link later for you oké. Greetings jacco from Holland

When you have some time, watch a whole episode together, the Dutch do things differently, it's great.
English subtitles to catch the info and short comments.
They all got invited to the Spanish island of Ibiza for a short "holiday".
Episode 1, Floor gets served breakfast, they all get introduced to each other having a picnic outside.
They all inspire each other to do better, out of their comfort zones.
It's not a competition, although the singer who is the centre of attention picks their favourite tribute from the others.
Episode 4 is Floor on the sofa with the host, the others singing to her, magical.
It really is worth binge watching the whole 2019 series!
Tim use to be the frontman of Direct . The band you see in De vrienden van Amstel live the curly redhead is the new singer and a colab with Kensington ( another band) live also a suggestion and you should react to it with Sarah. BTW they had a time frame. He wrote the song Winner that song that Floor was singing in the same show.

Sweet. My favourite rendition of a Nightwish song by a non Nightwish person. I feel Tim didn’t really relax into it until the last half but he pulled it off pretty well.

Better version than the original. Let go of the restraints and you will see it. Appreciate Floor all the way. There is no winner, because it is not an American show, so that might be a possibility. They are all winners, certainly this guy.

Tim did ok with "Nemo", but, if you're going to sing a NW song for Floor, it should be "Elan". the first single from the first NW album written for, and recorded by, Floor.

Tim tryed to make a rock version, beat up version of Nemo, and well he did, its of cause not as emotional as the original, doing it this way, and i think that wasnt the point, the point was to do it diffrent, and make a bit of a get up your chair vibe.. and Tim do have a great voice... but for me, yes it was fun to watch, but not for my playlist, but i see why Tim chose it this way for the show still..
and yes im pretty sure Tim got a lot of songs, where hes voice gets more emotion then in this one..

Totally agree with Sarah - your Wife is totally on the ball - far too fast! As a result it felt rushed. I think you should do much more from this show - the songs that Floor sung for all of the others were just mind blowing 🤯,' - you also need to see some of the songs they did for Floor apart from Tim here. Especially the one's sung for Floor by Samantha Steenwyck and Emma Heesters - one was a Nightwish song that has never been performed live - and the other was Emma singing Floor's composition 'Strong' - definitely not to be missed - I hope they're on your vast list?! Sarah won't want to miss them I promise you!

Hard to keep up? C'mon Tom, you need to try harder. Maybe less BC Classic playing? And don't use the kids being off from school as an excuse. Just shove them out the front door each morning so you can do your reaction videos and those that come home that night can live to fight another day. Survival of the fittest and all that... 😁
One can really tell he's trying to hard out side his comfort zone. Despite his efforts it still come's out bland and forced. Some say it's emotional but i disagree, All I hear is a guy who tries to hard at something he can't do.

PS. don;t listen to request from who ever requested this. Just because it's from "beste zangers" doesn't make it good. Most of the participants should not have been there. I's really not fair to make that selection. Floor and Henk are seasoned Pro's the others where like TH-cam pop cover singers.
So who besides Emma Heesters, who I might add is a stellar singer, is a TH-cam pop cover singer on "Beste Zangers 2019". She was the only one. That shows in this case your lack of knowledge of the show. Just a plain disrespectful comment of you posted here.
