BIG EMOTIONAL LETDOWN GONZAGA after one of the greatest games ever played I am not making an excuse for Gonzaga, nor am I taking anything away from Baylor. I actually picked Baylor an almost lock to make the NC game after I saw them beat an underrated Wisconsin team. I gave them a 45% shot at knocking off the Zags. They are the real deal and have been since Scott Drew used his talent a little differently - especially on Defense as you pointed out in your No Middle Vid. But one would have to either lie to oneself or be blind not to see this wasn't the same Zag team we've seen all year and tournament. After the first 2m of the NC game I called my boss and said - "lay off the zags immediately". You could see there was nothing there- they were emotionally spent. It had nothing to do with physical fatigue (or much) as Few pointed out after. But there was definitely a big emotional letdown. With a team as aggressive and locked in as Baylor, that game was over from the start. The Zags have some real fighters and a great energy together and they fought as hard as they could. It wasn't there. In fact, #3 - a top 20 recruit - was stumbling around like he was drunk. One particular play on Defense he almost stumbled over his own feet. The defensive coverage on the Ball Screen was terrible. There was nothing that innovative or amazing going on for Baylor - Zags were just out of it. Baylor's defense was dynamite and has been all year except for some lack of intensity coming off of the covid break. But again, the zags were like a ghost of their former selves. In fact, they were so off, that it started to effect Baylor. From roughly the last 10m of the 1st Half to the first 10 of the 2nd, the game was ugly. I actually liked Mark Few shifting his defenses. With a great bunch of kids at his disposal, I think he should have mixed it up more. HC / FC pressure - mixed with some zone (1-3-1 more than 2-3) and traps - - make it ugly. It was the best shot given the circumstances. But in the end probably nothing mattered to much. The players have to be present... the Zags were not. Yeah, Baylor won the title, but people are spinning this all the wrong way entirely. This team was unlike anything we've EVER seen before. Smothering defense, one of the best 3pt percentages in history. Amazing team. However, why the fuck is everyone shitting on Gonzaga? Gonzaga wasn't overrated. Baylor was underrated. I already placed money down that Gonzaga will win it all next year. They're way-too-early preseason #1 again next season, and I honestly don't see there being another Baylor next year to stop them. Gonzaga ran into a buzzsaw with defense that would have beaten the Nets. That doesn't mean Gonzaga's bad, or overrated, or will never win it all, and I wish those who are spitting those narratives would shut the fuck up. They have no idea what they're talking about. Coach K made 5 FINAL FOURS BEFORE HE WON THE TITLE. Mark Few's time will come.
I get you. But it’s also another narrative people are putting out there. They’re making excuses saying Gonzaga was tired which is bs because they both played on the same night so that would make baylor tired too. Or this just wasn’t their night. Fact is Baylor was just the better team so we need to give them credit! I do agree with you though they are not overrated, but they are not better then Baylor either.
I think the main reason why people are shitting on the Zags is the conference they play in. The WCC, it's not exactly what you would consider to be a powerhouse conference. They're really the only team good in that conference, with teams like BYU or St. Mary's occasionally having peaks. The fact of the matter is, their conference simply doesn't give them any kind of resistance or chances to really battle test them. I know that they try to schedule bigger opponents for non-conference games, but they're also playing those games early in the season, when teams are still trying to get their acts together. Let's also not forget, the best team that the Zags had faced seed wise in the tournament before the NC game was a 5-seed: Creighton (With how UCLA played you could easily make an argument they were better). My point is: how you play early in the season is much different to how you play in the dance. I don't necessarily think that the Zags were overrated per say, they were the only team coming into the tournament that had a 0 in the loss column, so they're were much deserving of the #1 overall seed. But the points that I made earlier make me skeptical in thinking if the Zags playing in their conference is truly getting them ready to get them to winning it all. I personally think they're capable of doing so, but until I actually see it happen, I'm going to have my doubts.

Baylor would have won it the year before, if it wasn't for covid.... So much for Gonzaga win it the following year....🤣
Weird and not so subtle hate for Timme in this one.
just a heads up your link to the store doesn't work
Yesssssssss
I think you should try doing nba videos as well!!!
Easy, they play in the Best Conf and play the best week in an week out so it aint no thang to play the B10, ACC, or SEC
Do one on Rodman's rebound impact in the nba 96 sonic championship again another mvp unmentioned because the tv talkers say clap when it goes in. Oh that's been done already ! Well try ben Wallace's impact for the 2004 pistons. Another anomalous team that won through boarding and D. One and done in the non draft sense.
if you actually thought Gonzaga was going to win it shows that you were just a sheep and did no research. even as a very casual watcher of basketball you could tell that Baylor was the real deal
They only won because Isaiah Livers got hurt. With their best player healthy, Michigan easily would have won last year
i’m so glad my home team won
we go crazy over sports
Spoiler alert: how they won was based off script anyone with 2 eyes an more than 3 IQ pts can see the synchronicities between them n elgin baylors death dead at 86 during the tournament only for baylor to win with 86 pts lol.. yikes (for those with “eyes” to see will understand) same thing repeats in the world of sports where former athletes tied to these things fall into place an people dont bat an eye. For those doubting it be prepared for the upcoming championships in nhl an nba id be surprised if u dont see any. It will happen before or after the championship games but very close to them like vincent jackson. If yall wanna believe the CTE stories then you dont have the “eyes” to see. Wacky year in sports last year with lakers winning the finals on father daughter day after u know whos passed away what a wonderful synchronicity.. jokes on jokes
Actual answer : COVID crippled all the good teams
TLDR:
Ran the competition then beat a D2 “powerhouse” to seal the deal.
Zags were out coached, out played, out matched by a much better team. No excuses matter. Baylor was, by far, the best team in the nation. Sic 'em !
well, they scored more points than the other team in the national championship game
Is Baylor man to man defense the open stance defense the mic Cronin ran at Cincinnati
But do they have open stance principle cause that’s not exactly packline stance
If only UCLA could've made that title game... 😔
Outcome would’ve still been the same. Baylor >
@@KWCline91 yeah prob, but a guy can dream lol
Y’all definitely deserved to beat Gonzaga that night.
I'm a Baylor fan, after the championship game my Cali cousin was so glad that UCLA didn't get pounded by Baylor.
SIC'EM BEARS 🐻
in simpler terms: baylor scored more points than gonzaga
Baylor played excellent defense as well.😁👍
😁 SIC'EM BEARS 🐻
Gonzaga overrated
So true. Not difficult to go undefeated when you play in a cupcake conference.
What’s your reason?
@@idllnghm So what about the Out of conference opponents and the tournament itself? Don’t be dense. Baylor was just the better prepared team.
Ehh idk I just think this Baylor team is underrated. They were the best team I’ve seen in the last 7 years. Gonzaga was just really good but Baylor was special! Everybody was just so focused on Gonzaga that they didn’t recognize Baylor.
@@idllnghm 35th hardest schedule
The determined tortellini biomechanically point because door ultrastructually wash across a superb catsup. wistful, handsomely planet
Gonzaga never plays anybody good until the tournament 😩😩😩
