- It's time for Week 6 of Season 2 2024 on #iracing and I'm back in the new Super Formula Lights car. I've had a disaster of a qualifying, and find myself starting P23 of 25...not ideal at a very dangerous Monza circuit. Can I make my way back up the grid? Let's find out!

Great race Ben, it sometimes pays to have to start nearer the back! There are certain tracks I never qualify on purely because of the first corner turning into an exploded parts bin!
Haha that is definitely true David - although I think this time it was also the luck of the draw in terms of which side of the track you were on. Thankfully I got lucky!

Haha yes it worked out rather well! The key is you need space to react and in the mid pack there is none!

Cheers Davey! Aye I reckon you’ll love it when you do - it’s such a driveable car, the real challenge is not under driving and braking too soon etc. That said the rear was a bit loose at Monza so it was a bit tricky at times!

Monza has been terrible this week. I've seen people wrecking in extremely strange places. Some bizzar jump starts. I even had a guy in a La Broca paint job brake check me in the Curva Grande, luckily I only had nose damage a little loss of top speed.
Never trust a La Broca car! 😂

Poor guys, such carnage before the race had properly started! But it allowed you to record a great result, who would have thought it starting so far back 😊
Yeah there were alot of innocent victims there! But thankfully made up for my qualifying incompetence!

Cheers Scott! Yeah I noticed a detailed inquest in the chat after the race but didn’t have time to go back and review it all! It’s the challenge when so many decent drivers get taken out lap one and then re-emerge from the pits in the mix at the front.
If there’s one track where messing up your qualifying can be a POSITIVE thing, it’s Monza! If you’d qualified, there’s every chance you’d have been in the middle of that mess. Instead, you’re just able to tootle around the outside and give them all a wave. Brilliant. Fantastic finish. In terms of positions gained, there can’t be many better results than that?
Ha I honestly don’t think I’ve ever made up 18 positions in a race before! I was totally just waiting to get speared in the side as I crept around them all, but thankfully not!
Insane that they didn't use the version w/out the Chicane for this week.
Ha alas it would just store up even bigger crashes at the second chicane I think. Monza = 💥

I like the car, but decided to go to a different series for a bit when I noticed half the practice lobbies couldn't keep their cars on the track, myself included 😅

Hey buddy - it’s around 1.8k now. The info is from RaceLab Apps, a set of overlays. There’s a free and paid version, and they’re highly customisable.

What would happen if lap 1 turn 1 you just deliberately took the side road to avoid the inevitable pile up? Would it just be a slowdown?
