    Hi Jon The whole of Pembrokeshire is a gem that is sometimes kept quiet. I lived at RAF Brawdy for 2 and a half years going to all the places you showed on your video. Newgale was a second home for me in terms of hang gliding, fishing, surfing, boating and all sundries of goodies from the pub and the cafe there. this was in the late 70s when we had an airforce flying over a 100 training sorties in one day Hawker hunters. I also flew from withybush with Fly wales in 2019 in one of there cessna 152 for an hours trip around the local area. nice memories cheers fella

    Great video Jon. The coastline from Aberystwyth south is stunning and well worth a trip. There is so much to do and see in the area , which is why I have been holidaying there for the last 30 years.

    Thank you for a great video. I was lucky enough to spend my teenage years, living in Haverfordwest during the 80'ss. My love of aviation came from seeing the training Hawks from the nearby RAF Brawdy. I am currently working towards a PPL and it is on my bucket list to fly my mother to HW, so very excited to see the airfield is in safe hands and wish them luck. Hope to see them in a couplle of years time!

    Another first class review Jon 👌
    I recognised ‘The Elms’ in the beautiful quiet village of St Florence, as I travelled there often (by road before I had a pilot’s licence) from the midlands and stay overnight. A lovely spot to stay. Great memories looking back at the old place. Well found! 👍

    Haverfordwest is a great airfield. When we visited a few weeks ago as clueless chaps from Germany, they did everything to help us and make us feel welcomed. And Pembrokeshire is absolutely stunning!

    When you reached Fishguard Harbour you must have flown over my house. I could see there was a Big Ocean Liner moored in the bay, we get quite a lot of them during the summer, they then ferry the passengers ashore to the harbour. I'm so glad you landed at Withybush and tried the breakfast there, I have stopped there many times and tried their breakfast. I'm so glad you like our county, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. If you ever came back to Withybush and do a meet and greet please let me know, I'd love to meet you. Best regards Dave M.

    Hit the nail on the head; So many airfields discourage visitors by making more hoops to jump through, as if there isn't enough to do before flying. So we just go to no BS destinations, eg Sandown.

    Wow Jon, what a beautiful area. I’d love to fly there one day. One thing that I find interesting is the UK’s obsession with PPR. In Australia we do have PPR at the occasional regional airfield but the vast majority of airfields are just open to fly in, with a CTAF. Pseudo controller radio operators are practically non existent. Is there any legitimate reason for all the PPR in the UK beyond a cultural disposition for bureaucracy?

    • @Loveenduro326
      @Loveenduro326 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Couldn’t agree more, having flown in the UK and Aus it’s so much simpler and easier in Aus. If UK airfields want to increase traffic and champion GA flying in general they need to do everything they can to make it as easy and hassle free as possible. Just get rid of PPR, no need for it unless it’s a private airstrip if you ask me!

    The UK does have some stunning western coasts and I love the new 360 camera on the belly. However, what I don't like is 3 adverts in one video. Your channel is starting to look more and more commercialised with multiple ads.

    • @TheFlyingReporter
      @TheFlyingReporter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I know that adverts can be a little annoying. I’ve not yet found a funding model that doesn’t involve adverts. High quality content like this is expensive to make. The cost to make this video ran into thousands. If you have any suggestions, do please let me know. Unfortunately I’m not rich enough to be able to do this for no return. It’s a fact, that without the generous advertisers, sponsors and Supporters, this channel wouldn’t exist. It’s teetering on the edge as it is. Supporters club members get my content advert-free, and you can become a member and watch this, and much of my other content without interruption here www.patreon.com/join/theflyingreporter/. If you have a suggestion for funding this content besides advertising, please let me know.
