I just got a 2014 XV250 for $10 (long story). It runs quite well but is in rough shape, though not nearly as rough as yours. I'm thinking about doing a complete rebuild. 🤔 The videos on TH-cam give me hope, but I wish that there were really detailed step by step teardown videos for the whole bike.
There should be an after market spring fitted on the carby to replace the missing cable Maybe the previous owner never got that far Good little mod to do.
I'm pretty sure my carburetor is messed up in my 2006 Virago 250 that I bought from my friend about a month ago. I've put 66 miles on it since I got it home, but now it barely starts and it stalls when I give it throttle, and I have to keep the choke on. I had an appointment to get it serviced, but then I called the shop to ask about them picking up my motorcycle, and they never returned my call.
Yes the man above is correct that hose runs into the back of the air filter pod. Apparently they can run without it, it's a breather that I assume is apart of the anti-pollution gear.
Yes, bottom left screw (there are 4 screws) on the opposite sidefrom what he is showing us at the start of the video. Hope you already found it, comment is a few weeks old.
Exactly, I was searching everywhere for an answer, because mine was unplugged, the cable was just hanging out. My bike was failing everytime I started it, and even while running, not even when the engine was warm, it stopped failing. I noticed that cable was off today, just plugged it in again and seems to be running better. Let's tests for some more days and hope it was just that one cable lol
What kind of carburetor is that? It looks Ike mine and I think mine is a Kipa. Is that a Keihin carb or Mikuni type carb? I really would appreciate the help!!
hi,... just watched your video, thanks for doing that!... my 2000 virago 250 mixture adjust screw was adjusted all the way in (lean)... with no change in idle or running status, any ideas why this is happening? thanks,...
May or may not be. Those are double walled. Outer cracks don't necessarily allow air into the system or fuel vapor to escape but it's definitely an indication that dry rot is setting in and it needs to be replaced before the inner walls crack.

The second cable is a "Push Cable" some people only use the Throttle Cable.

I have fuel coming out of the carburetor connection to my air intake box. Any ideas of the problem?
4:27, what is that hose & where does it go? Mine came completely out & can't find where other end goes???
did you ever figure this out?? i’m having the exact issue right now
I'm not sure (I don't have this bike but a similar one, suzuki_same carb), I think that might go to the air filter box.

Do these carburetors have a drain screw plug. ?

Hey bro are you still active on your channel? I have a question about the bike wel mind
1:56 I think that is the carburetor heater.

The cracked rubber boot is your issue

@@zezaekrael I bought a new boot for $35 and it was just a sheathing or jacket to cover the metal throat from what I see.
Hmu I have a question !
