      Julie The first written recipe [for macaroni and cheese] seems to be from The Experienced English Housekeeper, by a Mrs. Elizabeth Raffald. Published in 1769, it appears to be the forerunner of our own American classic: bechamel sauce with Cheddar, mixed with macaroni, sprinkled with Parmesan, then baked until bubbly and golden. Another recipe, macaroni a la reine ("Macaroni in the style of the queen"), made from a similar mixture of pasta, cream, and melty cheese (often Gruyere), appeared frequently in British cookery books until relatively recent times. So you m'am are wrong! Mac n cheese is not American. But it is consumed by Americans mostly.

      dddd Garlic is not part of the italian cousine. At least not how northen Americans do it. And cheese is uncountable, there is no s at the end even when talking about multiple kind of cheese. And most of the cheese and oil that I can find in the United States are not even imported from Italy they are a sad american imitation.

      Bre'Anna Booker disagree! Interracial relationships can allow you to experience different customs, foods, languages, etc. It's a lot of fun being with and learning from someone of a different culture. The experience is different compared to dating someone with a similar background.

      nope, actually they ARE different because they experience different customs and different traditions, etc etc.. lets not underrate what people go through, being in an interracial relationship IS different from a same-race relationship

    • @lindalemoni5428
      @lindalemoni5428 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

  • @lourdesgutierrez782

    I wish they would expand more and include interracial couples of more variety like Mexican women and Asian man or Thai woman and South African man..... or etc. like I'm Mexican and my husband is Samoan.... and although we visually look the same we do have completely different cultures. It's hard to mash them up at times but we are really good at compromising.... that would be nice

  • @AshleyLaGata
    @AshleyLaGata 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I wish they would talk about real cultural differences. My husband and I are always learning eachothers etiquette like what things are considered rude, how families interact, how friends treat eachother, how we emote etc. My husband is Russian and I'm latina basically he'll say someone is being hysterical while I literally think they're just talking normally lol.

    This past Thanksgiving me and my boyfriend brought to go plates from each family's house. He did not want to eat the dressing from his family's house. He basically admitted that my mother's dressing was better then his aunts dressing. 😄😄😄

    2) never had lobster at a family gathering
    3) not all white ppl are rich, my dad and a lot of my friends grew up working in the fields and packing sheds...central valley of CA.
    4) We have BOMB stuffing...one side is bread "dressing"...other is also 100% homemade and has mushrooms. 👌 Like random friends show up to eat cuz it's so good.

      I honestly think it depends on what you're used to. In black families we're usually heavy with the seasoning so we become accustomed to that. They make think the food tastes good the way it is because that's the way they're used to it tasting but we don't. The same way I like my sweet tea SWEET but when I give it to my wife she's like no it's too sweet. But to me it's perfect. I think what tastes good to you is just what you're accustomed to.

    Lauren is so fucking funny. Very blunt and dry with it. I feel like they'd do well for a UK audience jmo. That being said she could dial it back just a tad. Nobody wants to be the butt of the joke ALL the time and it could breed resentment over time.

    I was curious by this, but honestly I wish I could have seen more sets of couples that don’t default white/poc. I’m mestiza (of Mexican ethnicity) with a lovely boyfriend of Korean ethnicity. We make an interesting couple. I think we need to open up and appreciate more combos that are poc/poc as well.

    Idk whose dressing she been eating but my mom is also white and from the south and ain't nothing dry or crumbly about here dressing 😋 And she makes the giblet gravy to go with it! Friends that have my moms food for the first time are always surprised. 😂😂 Which is funny to me because my mom and granny throw down just like my black granny and aunties

    i am black and a lot of southern food or food people would expect black people to like, i do not like and it is funny because my mom is from Alabama and me and my older sister do not really like a lot of southern food. so when we go visit they always got to cook something else for us like i know i do not like: greens, cabbage, spinach, pork (Except for bacon), i do not really eat a lot of red meat only every once in a while, i do not like watermelon AT ALL, black eyed peas, cole slaw, potato salad, etc. and every time i tell people that they always ask if i am really black, and it's like not all black people like soul food so you should not expect it from every black person.

    I know I'm generalizing, but many white people don't like strong flavors. We like our food to taste salty or sweet, so while we do like to eat a lot of dishes from other cultures we sometimes find the flavors to be too strong for our tastes.

    I do not agree with 1:55, you can't force someone to pray if they don't believe in something that's just wrong, If she's just quiet and lets you do your thing that's fine too right?
