Farsi is a great springboard for Korean. I’ve found so many similarities in grammar and sentence structure even though they have different origins. Thank you for this. I’ll try your drama method!
A young person, especially someone gifted, is going to be able to learn a language much more easily than someone much older who is not gifted. I've been studying Korean for over 7 years, and I still can't watch a K-drama without subtitles, even though I've watched nearly 100 of them, nor can I read Korean very well. I'm in my 50's, I don't have a good memory, and so far, I've not found any methods for learning Korean that actually work. When I hear a person speaking Korean, I can't pick out where words stop and start and it all sounds run together in a single long string of syllables to me. This is why learning tools like Duolingo are very difficult for me because when it speaks a Korean phrase that I'm supposed to translate, I have to keep replaying it over and over to try and figure out each word one at a time. If I try listening to the sentence, and for example, if it's a 5 word phrase, by the time it has gotten to the 3rd word, I've already forgotten what the first 2 words sounded like. :(
I know Korea is getting a lot of attention nowadays but with it comes dark stories about how hard it really is to live there as a foreigner…I don’t think learning a language in where you are different and resented would make it easy to learn. Her case is different because she has beauty on her side, but for anyone else be prepared to take a long harder journey. This is just reality.
I've been learning korean for a while now and I was starting to give up thinking this wasn't for me but I watch a lot of kpop, kdramas and korean reality shows so I end up learning korean even if I don't want to😂and yes I'm still learning korean till today somehow... So yeah dramas, reality shows are quite helpful
I would love to see dramas and songs one could use to start with. I see a lot of dramas and realized not all can be used to learn Korean e.g. medical dramas, dramas with local dialects etc.
I wonder how it is for foreigners to go live in Korea.. I've never had plans for it, but lately I've seem so many people doing it I'm starting to consider
I understood very few words i was tired of studying today so i listened. Idk if that helps to hear people talking but every 8 hours of book study i do i listen to a few podcasts to hear the language
I need to find Korean content I like to watch or listen. TTMIK has good grammar packages, but it's hard for me to remember words. I don't watch K-drama.
I've been trying this method before, repeating lines of drama. However, the drama is far too interesting that I can't wait to watch further, no time to pause 😂. By the way, when I first learnt Korean, no Netflix no Disney+, no way to see 한국어 대사. It won't work for me if I couldn't see the words. 😅
@@missright0213 😭 I can read hangeul but on the elementary level probably 😂 but I guess that'll work, I'll try with a song instead. thanks for the suggestion.
@@chuuahhh Your reading will improve if you keep reading, even if it's hard, frustrating that you wanted to cry😭 keep practicing. When you listen to songs, try reading the lyrics too, it is a bit easier when you already know the whole song or it is a bit slow like ballad.
@@chuuahhh For the K-drama scripts (Korean shadowing/imitation), there are some videos that you can find here. Just "TRY" practicing with them. Pause or slow the video if it's a bit fast. I only tried a few times before (because I was focused on studying grammar, vocabs and reading) so I will try practicing speaking/listening again. We can do it!!☺️
@@missright0213 ikr, that's should be the right mantra but laziness is hard to defeat when hardly showed improvement 😭 but the more I don't read the more it felt like hiking a neverending mountain, keep postponing the progress is actually mentally torturing lol. I can follow the lyrics with ballad songs although with a little slip sometimes lol. I'm at that level. it's so challenging to follow more upbeat songs. it's a lot easier when I already familiar with the songs tho. okay, I will try to to find it. you seem like you have mastered some of the laziness struggles lol. yes, we can do it. learning a language is about a habit (yes, I know the theory but the practice is like hiking a mountain 😭 fighting tho! 😭😂)
Saying that nothing is impossible is a bit rude I believe. I don't think you said it with ill intention but it still looks down on the effort some are putting in. If you got to korea and got to live your dream it's great! But you have to realise that you were privileged to some degree. Obviously you had your own problem, everyone has. But still your parents held their promise and that can't be said for everyone. Or that you had the possibility to watch dramas on your phone. These things are natural to us, however, there are people who were born into bad circumstances. And if these people try and fail, in your logic, it would mean that they didn't try hard enough which is surely not the case. Really, no hate. Just be careful with your word choice or it can come off as ignorant
@@jagx234 yes. But also in many cases, and maybe for hers since she was a top student, you can get a scholarship that covers your expenses or leave through job offers. In that case you can leave rather easily, unless you're leaving to the U.S or canada.
I think it's not fair to reflect her choice to follow her dreams as escaping.. As Iranians we know our country has some rules based on our religion, so that's not a BIG deal as if there ain't such things throughout the world :)
@@exessen1684 honestly why does the reason matter? No reason is somehow above another reason. So who cares about the reason, leave people alone and let them learn if they want.
@@Emily.study.coffee I agree, not sure why you're saying this to me tho. Unless you misunderstood and thought my comment was a response to you and not the person above
