Another observation is this is one of the only in bay automatics I've seen where the rockers are bottom driven. And Magic wand used top driven rockers in their conveyorized systems. Of course that was before they merged with Istobal.
The rockers had to be bottom driven to enable the mitters to easily retract without getting caught in the drive or arm/tension mechanisms. Otherwise, Magic Wand would have likely kept them as top driven.
I don't know what they were thinking when they designed it... but it is a simple design that probably was meant for dealerships that wanted a cheap (and FAST) wash that required little maintenance. Again, dealerships don't often show customers their car wash systems so they can often get away with one of these (assuming they are too cheap to get a Broadway system). There is one other Magic Touch that The Solar Car Wash purchased that I will try to film within the next few months. This other one is (slightly) better and than the one shown in the video as it has higher rocker panel brushes and a new body structure.
Thinking smart.. If that thing was built when the Flintstones were still around this thing could still live.. This thing I thick should get put back into production.
Like I said in my initial reply, dealers and fleet operations would LOVE this thing, meaning if you brought this design back it would be profitable. If you ever work for a car wash company and want to add a fleet rollover to the company's product line, you could resurrect this one and improve it.
(sorry I did not see your first comment) I feel the same exact way.. I just love the simplicity.. I don't know how well it would do as a retail wash though.. Its just so simple its hard to dislike it!
Well the Magic Touch apparently was sold for the retail market. The other machine actually had onboard CTAs, a tri-foam system, and taller side brushes. I did film a walkthrough of it (and the one in my current video), and the video should be up soon.
Connor Erickson I don't actually know. Maybe the owner is cheap and wanted to cut costs or something. They might have the new FreeStyler in now which could have an R/O system included with it.
Connor Erickson You don't need a bower system to have a successful rollover at a self-serve wash. What you actually need is a R/O system, which this Magic Touch lacked.
You are not the only one who would like to buy this machine...though if I bought it then I would likely just disassemble and refurbish it as a collector's item
Man.. You don't understand how bad I feel after that message. I don't know why I had such a problem. You did not do anything wrong either. That was very unprofessional and childish of me to do. My apologies.
Don't worry, everyone does stuff like this every once in awhile. My I saw your comment on how zachmamaw1 thought the Magic Touch was a tunnel/gantry combo due to the mitter (a very common mistake for people who know little about IBAs) so I was effectively replying to his comment when I made the true equation. Let's just get back to youtubing business as normal. BTW, this machine might be dead now with a FreeStyler in its place. If it isn't dead, its gonna be soon, sadly. R.I.P. Magic Touch.
I have been through that car wash system about eleven years ago. I thought it was very exciting at that time, but now to me, it is a very cheap and lame car wash system. The curtain miter does not have enough friction to clean the car. It should be replaced with a better car wash system at a better price.
Hey.. Just telling you.. Everyone on TCW is annoyed because you are constantly commenting on 5 year old threads.. We would prefer if you did not do that..
Visited the machine yesterday without a car that could be washed in it (due to fender damage). Apparently, it's still there. Also found and visited another Magic Touch (at the El Cerrito Solar Car Wash location) and it had onboard CTAs, taller rocker brushes, and a tri-foam system. The video should be up by tomorrow hopefully.
They replaced it (and another similar system at their El Cerrito site) with a Belanger Freestyler back in 2015. Works much better than the original Magic Wand machine.
Not really...Broadway Inc's cloth gantry with Istobal's Express On Rails and Autec's In-Bay Express lineups are the only real IBA/tunnel combos that have ever been made as standard systems. Besides, IBAs have been known to feature mitters before (see Autec and Broadway cloth systems for examples)
SF Car Wash Channel the Istobal TWash is a true combination of a In-bay automatic and a tunnel, it would be really good if you could have true European car wash equipment like Washtec or Istobal S.A or even Cecatto
I currently do not know when the system was installed, though I have contacted the manager of The Solar Car Wash and requested some general info regarding the machine.
If I find a Panther the I will film it, and based on what you are saying I can only assume it's a rare system. My advice: email NS and/or contact a distributor to see if you have any local Panther or Challenger systems.
The mitter curtain rotates. Awesome!

This thing is hillarious!!!! Wtf was magic wand thinking when they designed this thing????

Awsome video! We used to have one but got replaced by a horrible oasis typhoon
Oh hey elevator fanatic! Lmao

SF Car Wash Channel
Nothing more than side to side mitter curtains and rocker panel brushes!

just put 3 of these in line with each other, add a comveyor and dryers and you have a standerd car wash
I mean Magic Touch did make tunnels, with one being in Puerto Rico
Very simple looking design
if they ever planned to remove it I would like to buy the wash system and refurbish it so it can be used again
You are not the only one who would like to buy this machine...though if I bought it then I would likely just disassemble and refurbish it as a collector's item
I've been through a really old one of these in Murphy, NC that has blue brushes and flaps
Please show me where it isd
@@thecarwashesandmorechannel2892 They've taken it out since this vid was filmed th-cam.com/video/kGM6DQuF73Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gMQmB7jXtIfycx93

Nice catch!
No dryers?? That sucks considering you got the 5 dollar wash I think.
daniel Britschock here most washes don't have a dryer

Cool I love car washes!!
Nothing more than a retractable soft cloth in-bay wash.
Hey.. Just telling you.. Everyone on TCW is annoyed because you are constantly commenting on 5 year old threads.. We would prefer if you did not do that..
What are the colors of the brushes of the Belanger FreeStyler?
yellow and blue
W w wha! No blowers?!! This car wash is a ripoff! Anyway nice video!
Relly! With air cannon dryers?!! Wow!
there actually gonna replace it with a balanger freestyler soon you can try to ask them if you can possibly buy the system before they replace it
When is it scheduled to be replaced?
Also, if you have the owner's email, could you post it here?

Aww that’s too bad that they removed the magic touch they could of just add dryers
The machine was terrible at cleaning. It needed replacement badly.
SF Car Wash Channel I think I could do better if they just update it

And why they don't use spot free water?
Wow interesting
So I guess there’s no dryer
Combonation of a tunnel and gantry machine

Just because it has a mitter?? Then what is an Autec?
Applicator arches + gantry core system = tunnel/gantry combo

When was it installed?
I currently do not know when the system was installed, though I have contacted the manager of The Solar Car Wash and requested some general info regarding the machine.
Are there anymore NS Panther car wash systems?
If I find a Panther the I will film it, and based on what you are saying I can only assume it's a rare system. My advice: email NS and/or contact a distributor to see if you have any local Panther or Challenger systems.
You've seen one before but did the Panther have a drive-out outside dryer?
Never seen one, but I can only assume it would say "Panther" on it, plus with the mitter that I have heard it has, it would be pretty noticable
How does this video have almost 50k views
no dryer + no side brushes+ no top brush + only small brushes= worst car wash ever :(
It did a better job than the 50s Sherman tunnel I visited a few years ago.
SF Car Wash Channel isimt it closed?
