Pigeons are unfairly misunderstood, I learnt that the reason they’re attracted to cities is because it reminds them of the hard rocks surface of the habitat they’re meant to live in.
Thank you, this clip is comforting to my baby pidgeon. I think he recognizes MOMMY sounds. He's flying, but still wants to be urged to drink and eat, which he just learned in the last two days. He can fly from his box to the kitchen to sit on my shoulder so he's got that going.
You are welcome and That's so lovely to hear! I'm thrilled to know that your baby pigeon is finding solace and a sense of comforting sounds of MOMMY . It's truly remarkable how animals can forge such deep connections and respond to specific signals.
@@Lewissoundeffectmusic4u Yeah I almost always Hera them as I live in the top floor of my building on the 9th floor like 100 feet in the air and there are many birds in the area

I'm a rehabber. This pigeon is lonely. This sound is calling out for a mate or calling to its mate. If the bird considers you its mate, it may be calling out to you. If your pigeon does this repeatedly all day, he or she is aching for pigeon company and really wants another pigeon around of the opposite sex. She/he is calling out and hoping another pigeon will show up. Male birds will be more vocal/louder. One of my squabs grew up into a male and began making these moaning noises all day as soon as he aged into puberty out of desperation for a mate. He stopped making these sounds when we adopted a wife for him. Now he only makes it when he's calling his wife to their nest. There is a sound similar to this, a little quieter, that is a snuggle noise (more like grunting than cooing). This sound and the pigeon looking around tells me this bird is lonely. Please consider that human company is a poor substitute for an adult pigeon. In the wild they get their emotional needs met through extensive interaction, all day long, with their flock. They need hours of direct sun exposure or their bones get brittle. They need lots of exercise. Indoor life is tough for them. They can only be fully happy having life with a pigeon mate, doing the daily routine of sitting on eggs (replace with fakes, don't allow to hatch). Hanging out with you a couple hours a day is not enough. Hours in a cage alone while you're at work is very sad for a pigeon. Please consider getting him a mate. Feel free to reach out to me if you need info.

@@Lewissoundeffectmusic4u Also I forgot to say--don't assume the gender of your pigeon! They are so good at fooling us. I keep a cute lil Fella named Pigeonton who's especially super clingy to me, saved her during a storm from about a year ago after she fell off her nest when the winds were strong. And now I have 2 new chicks named Cookie and Cream, both had their nest sacked because the tree they were being nested in was chopped and my Grandma didn't actually know, so she ended up giving them both to me.. and now they're pretty much thriving, although Pigeonton being the OG child is a bit jealous that she's not getting all the attention pfft.
At what age are they starting to make this sound? I have the same pigeon, but 7 weeks old, she is the cutest snuggle, she lives with us, our balcony is always wide open but she doesn't leave, she can fly when ever she want's, and always comes back inside the house for al lot of snuggles, she realy help's me with my panic attacks, she just sit's on my chest and sleeps, she keeps me calm, it's like she knows, her name is Akira, and me and my kids are loving her so much.
Pigeons will begin to make this noise at sexual maturity when they are ready to be married. This noise is calling out for a mate. Males will be louder. Don't assume your pigeon's gender--it only costs about $35 to have a bird sexed via mail. Please consider getting a mate for your pigeon to marry. As a human you have a very limited ability to satisfy a pigeon's emotional needs. They are evolved to live life with a mate, tending to eggs together (swap with fake eggs for birth control).

hi In most cases, cooing is a sign of contentment and happiness. When your pigeon coos as you leave for work and gets louder when you pet or coax him, it's likely a way for him to express affection and seek attention. So, you are indeed giving him what he's asking for your care and affection! Pigeons are known to bond with their owners, and the cooing is a positive sign that he enjoys your company. Without these lessons, being randomly released after being rescued is very often a death sentence by starvation or predation. Unfortunately many well-meaning people are not aware of this and release their rescues to die. Flocks reject strangers in most cases. The only way in is to be blood related, or to marry in.
