- Adam Ben Ezra is a double-bass player and a multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Tel Aviv. His mission is to bring the double-bass to the 21st century: from background and accompaniment instrument to the dominant front-presence it deserves. Thanks to his ability to move from one instrument to the other during his performances, Adam creates a unique atmosphere combining jazz, rock and world music with a sweeping, fascinating and visionary sound. He shared the stage with Noa and with some of the biggest fusion musicians including Pat Metheny, Richard Bona, Mike Stern, Victor Wooten. With his TH-cam channel boasting close to ten million views, it is clear that Adam is a star on the web. His debut album “Can’t Stop Running” showcases not just a virtuoso performer, but also a sensitive composer with no musical boundaries, as confirmed also in his brand new solo album “Pin Drop”. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
He should have performed this thing near a music loving audience. It's a pity that this audience is not admiring his work. He deserves more applause!!
Thanks, Adam, for all you're doing to make the bass a solo instrument, inspiring new bassists like myself with the possibilities.
Kinda disappointed he basically didn't touch the classical side of the instrument at all. Believe it or not, there actually is a somewhat vast repertoire for the double bass!
This man is a magician!
I admire your music and talent...
This man is a legend
I didn't know these things could be done on an upright bass! Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely fantastic! What an incredible display of true discovery! Love you and Victor both.
Dubstep Upright Bass. I've waited so long....

BADASSERY
What kind of pedals are you using. Love the effects!
master
I'd love to play with Ben! I'd also love it if he were to get together with Jacob Collier, or Snarky Puppy, or maybe Jonathan Kreisberg or Cory Henry, Josh Nelson or Taylor Eigsti, or Mike Moreno.
Mantull bro.
Olé!!!!
👏
OH MY GOD-ZILLA
Wow. Nice performance. Shame the crowd doesn't seem to wholly appreciate the speaker.
This puts the violists to shame even more so than before.
what do you mean
Yeah, but I’m not saying this doesn’t take skill because i know it does. However he’s not actually using the pure form of the bass he is using tone modifications. If he could do that with the pure bass then i would be amazed
@@wocken4me681 like semitones? What do you mean
Jason G No, Like pedals, and stuff like that. You couldn’t make those sounds with a acoustic bass. He has an electric acoustic bass. So he can modify the sounds. Like look at all the pedals and pads by his feet. I just dont want people getting a bass because they think they can make all the sounds so easily, but In reality unless they have the money and time they cant.
I did that with an instrument one time. Now I wish i had done differently
whats up, SLAPPERS
Once I had the chance to take part to a wedding party in Egypt.
I was surprised to see how modern their ''pop'' music was.
There was also a DJ behind the desk a sort Armin van Buuren of Hurghada.
Sooner or later the Oriental tones and rhythms will get mixed with the western beat.
How you study different type of music
Them loopers, I tell 'ya...
My bass is named violet
My teacher has that now
Add upright bass to my lost of instruments i want hurdy gurdy as well
What bass tuning does he have?
Standard, but 5 Sting with high C, so E-A-D-G-C.
try resguardo on bass
Damn that's some nice 5 string bass
Last I read, he plays a Nick Lloyd. They're worth every penny - I just wish I could afford one!
Eas that a modified clarinet? Can someone confirm please?
Wrong it's a tuba obviously
He's basically Wintergatan's Martin from Israel..
5 strings?
Anyone know what the Jewish song he starts with for the last song? It’s beautiful
Chatanu Lefaneicha ( We Have Sinned Before You) or Adon Ha'selichot
Very Stanley Clarke.
Screw the violin
Do you ever play with anybody? And, well, play bass?
Not bad....😂😂😂
this is amazing, but it has 5 strings which I'm not so sure i like
It's not that unusual. Either a high C string for the solos, or a low B at the bottom end so it can get a full octave below the 'cello.
this is not bass music
Why ?
@@rob0nemusic369 because the bass Is part of a band...
@@mattnati so pulling teeth by Cliff Burton isn't bass music ?
It's music played on a bass.
Because you say so? Lol…ladies and gentlemen, I give you THE ARBITER OF WHAT IS AND WHAT ISNT BASS MUSIC! Everyone acknowledge his presence!!!
