- Hi everybody! I'm back! I'm kicking things off with a quick performance of this fabulous Tracy Wormworth bass line. As usual, this is NOT a note for note cover. This is my interpretation. Just having fun here! Apologies for the bad camera angle. I'll get it right next time. :)

Thanks and have a Happy New Year!!!
Probably my favorite bass riff of all time.
Right on John! Thanks for stopping by.
I didn't realize that bass line was so dope! I'm going learn that tune. I didn't know about Tracy until she played with Sting.
You tore that up, Zuma! Bravo!
Thank you Pete! I appreciate you leaving a comment. 🤘
And yea Tracey Wormworth was so underrated i put her right up there with James jamerson and many others of course but very few can cary a song on bass and not kill the melody. i have probably listen to and shared this bass line 1000 times. As a musician learnig a song absolutely perfectly giving the original artist justice takes so much time and practice. i practiced My All for almost 2 years on Sax before i felt confident that i gave it justice. This bass line is that kind of line. And yes you have given it justice
Thank you Dave 😎👍
I never really knew/realized just how intricate this bass riff was until I watched/listened to you play this. It's MUCH more complex than you can hear just listening to the song by itself.
Lovely!
Thank you 😎🤘
NAILED IT! NICE JOB :)
You legitimately earned that $50! One of the few songs where the bass actually pushes the beat a little at points- then lays back a tiny bit (and son). So many people can't strike that balance and it becomes a hot mess. You absolutely sent it tho!
Thank you so much! Not sure I ever received the $50 cash but I do remember enjoying a nice Thai dinner. 🐒🍻😋
Great job, Tracy Wormworth is on of my favourite players, I've wanted to do bass covers of some of the songs from Bruiseology for a long time.
James Smith - Thank you. I'll have to give that album a listen.
You will probably have to get the Waitresses Just Desserts collection to have the songs, Bruiseology was never released on CD.
She sings a solo on that album! It’s the song called “Spin”
oh man! i love the bass of this song. been searching for quite a long time for a bass cover, and you did it. it's great that you're back.
I'm a song cover critic, but you won my over with this awesome performance. Thanks for posting this video.
+SanDiegoPolicePursuits - Thank You for that. I really appreciate it. Happy Holidays!
it's good to see you back on youtube. I'm not a player but I love music and your videos of course
Welcome back! You were missed!!
Yeah, Aria Pro II ! Love my '78 Aria Ripper!
Right on David! Keep on rippin' it! 😎🎸
Zuma,
As much as I love the DD/JT stuff and the Haircut 100 song, this just may be my fave bass cover of yours! You really rock this one out! Looks like you are having fun too!
Awesome! Smooth!
👌
Thanks for stopping by Martin!
Lovely playing mate! One of the best bass riffs (imo) ever written and the song is really underestimated should be right up their with the great Christmas songs every year with all the other greats, sadly it's not :(
Gavin Young - thanks for the comment! I agree and appreciate your kind words. Have a great New Year. :)
Your very welcome Have a great year as well :)
So good to see you back in action my friend. ;) Hope you find your Boo. Looking forward to your blog and great to see this one done. Been plyaing this one for some time and I always love to see others play this funky bassline. A fave. HasYou still owe me some skype jams :D Hasta la proxima! oxo

Nice guitar bass picking keep it up
You should do a tutorial on ghost notes cuz from the sound of things... this song if FULL of them
good job man. been wanting to learn this song lately.
also, you nailed the tone!
Thank You Chris! Have a great holiday.
Glad your back! Hope you find your pup. As a dog person, I understand. Great Video!
Nice work friend,I'm a drummer who loves the bass (i'm a lefty who bass a righty bass..strings up/down..badly i might add) anyway, all m fave basslines are from 80's and you nail them all brother. Thank's for all your posts. Good luck w/the pooch
Thank You! Though the tone is in the fingers, here is my signal chain: Aria Pro II SB-1000 ---> Trace Elliot SMX Dual Compressor ---> straight in to ProTools with a little dirt from a SansAmp PSA 1 plug-in.
great
Thank you and Merry Christmas Eve 🎄⛄
Awesome chops, man! Any feelings on an 80's SB-1000 compared to the model Aria is selling now?
I JUST heard a recording of a "RI" model and it sounded pretty spot-on to me. I can't comment on the feel, though.
I see it now second time round, sorry bro i was too focused on the fingers and frets. Cheers and good to see you back.
Hi Bud. Firstly Happy New Year to you.. Im thinking of buying an ORIGINAL Aria SB 1000 online (as thats the only place that sells them) the only problem i have is how can i check if its an original Matsumoku produced version or the new re-issued ones.. I havnt heard any great reviews on the re-issued models, hence why i wont to get an original back again.. Is there anyway of telling by the Seial Number, any Info on this matter would be much appreciated.. Thanks..
Great playing!!! You play with such finesse. I hope you found your dog. I know it's been two years. Take care.
Thank You Paul and have a Happy New Year! Boo never returned. I feel that she found a good home though. I hope so anyway!
That looks like an Aria Pro II that I used to mess around with back in the '80s.
awesome tone! Good luck with Boo, thoughts out to you my friend.
Fantastic performance! Gotta try this out. Did you find your dog?
I knew someone would notice! :)
That's the thing, isn't it though? The Gotoh bridge is a big different plus the quality of Matsumoku fretwork was quite recognisable. I'm sure that unless the re-issues were going for a different feel it would be no big job to copy the profiles from a vintage specimen.
Funny thing, the cheap Korean IGB-50 I got for £32 off eBay was a mix of Japanese holdover parts and Korean cheapy bits. Japanese fretwork over a Basswood (or whatever) body!
Great! Do you have a tab for this??
Sorry Brad, I don't.
If you can find a copy of the Holiday 2009 issue of Bass Player magazine, you'll find a note-and-tab transcription of this part. It's actually a fairly complex part in the sense that there are many little variations on the basic 4 bar phrase built around A major and A dominant seventh chords.
Duly noted!
What kind of washers/strap locks are you using? they sure look indestructible..lol
i really like watching your bass videos as a songwriter i tend to focus more on melody and can neglect the bass line - also shows how even now with music software, it's still usually a lot better to get a competent bass player to do the bass track rather than try to emulate it
Great comment. Having at least one "real" instrument among a sea of virtual (sometimes quantized) instruments can really enhance the feel of a given track. You could argue that formula was the basis of a great many 80s tracks - a quantized drum feel enhanced with real guitars and bass. :)
You didn't see the text in my video?! My doggie was under there! That's the "day bed" anyhow. I only take the occasional nap there.
do you have the tabs for this song man...???
It would have been better if you could see BOTH of your hands so as to appreciate your right hand technique, too!
Yeah, this wasn't my greatest camera work Charles. Please check out my latest videos like Hungry Like the Wolf or Union of the Snake. I think I've improved a bit. 😎😬
Hey there you are cute!!!! And I love your bass playing!!! :)
That bass line is no fucking joke. you still didnt play it right but you got close. That bass like makes a lot of Jaco's shit look easy.
Tracy's a beast! 👹🤘🎶
Song Starts at 1:40
Wow I thought we'd lost you
Come on zumaz, you could of made your bed. lol
