Adaptation is one of the most broken abilities and one of my favorites. It has no real limit to what it can do for a user. It’s really only limited to either the conditions for it’s use or the way the user wields it. Still, Adaptation isn’t all powerful and that’s why I like it so much. Any being with it can be a massive threat, but they can still die. The truest broken ones are the characters that come back from the dead. Heracles has a 12 lives, Doomsday resurrects, Amazo undid his erasure, and SCP-682 has erasure immunity and near infinite regeneration. While all those characters are fun and terrifying opponents, they’re absolute nature takes away an aspect of growth from them. It also ruins the anticipation, you know these characters will just get back up, they’ll just get back up stronger. So I prefer more limited adaptation, be it by putting conditions on their adaptation or limiting their regeneration. Mahoraga is a character like that even if his regeneration is too much for a long lasting character of a story, but he’s not meant to be an important character.
682's adaptation has a weakness though, it is not permanent. He's been defeated by conventional weaponry before and hauled back to containment in an acid bath. If his adaptation was permanent, he wouldn't be stuck in a vat of acid and wouldn't be stopped by a tactical nuke each time he breached containment. Yes he can adapt to virtually anything there is, but eventually, he'll revert to his default state like Mahoraga.
If some of the crossover and extended stuff is to be believed, he can literally adapt to anything. Containment is the only thing that can be done to it. Any and all attempts to kill it will backfire horribly and potentially destroy the local multiverse.

Justice League Animated series Amazo by the end of the comics sure did become powerful. It is a big shame we will never see him again. It is also sad what I heard what the writers did to Wonder Woman in the Animated version of the comics that was just a terrible plotline excuse to justify her lack of presence in Batman Beyond. You guys are going to very much dislike it a lot and not accept it. It is bad. The attributes of this Amazo reminds me a lot of Marvel's Protege who also had the power to copy cosmic beings which included the Living Tribunal of that time. Though this after Beyonder sadly got retconned, Protege along with the Celestial Scathan the Approver also got retconned out of existence. Seriously the constant multiverse retcons Marvel and DC comics have been doing has been really tiring and self sabotaging for no reason at all at the detriment of the characters and what was pre-established in the universe as well. They shouldn't be abusing what retcons are and after Infinite Crisis they just kept on muddling everything up. Small question though, would Sosuke Aizen when he had the Hogoku considered to have Adaption as well? It made him astronomically more powerful with each danger he was facing even against the Mugetsu attack of Final Getsuga Tenshou Ichigo.
I mean Accelerator's Vector Control is itself an adaptive technique has his ability allows me to basically reverse engineer various laws of physics and magic, as long as it can be modeled on something going from point A to B.
Should have included Task Master. He might not seem that impressive, but he managed to adapt (copy) to Deadpool as such he was able to read his mind, which is pretty much impossible for nearly all characters.
Regarding 682, his adaptations have always been temporary like Mahoraga's. Even then there's some SCPs that outright cancelled it out like Walter the Omnivorous Rabbit. Only thing 682 did was climb up the wall to avoid it as if it let it keep eating him, he would've been dead. Funny enough though he did hear about SCP 2935 and upon finding out that he died in that universe, bro went straight into panic mode.
There's nothing more dangerous beyond anything and all of creation or out of creation is when you hit them the hardest they can adapt and copy everything and become so powerful after all that copying and adapting they can no longer be killed you can spend all of true infinity and true infinite lifespan putting them down and keep trying to kill them but as long as they can copy and adapt their endless of killing
Can we appreciate for a moment the more balanced kind of adaptation like Mahoraga, man it's called adaptation not immortality invincibility level up thing it meant to change based on what it were given not literally gaining power continuously, irl they would need to adapt once again if the other cause is beyond or opposite what theyre adapting
@@realize745 He has lower attavk potency and we don't know enought abouth hes growth potential to say,Saitama can supress dimensional axis by evolving like SCP-682

Figure out things like that and you should be able to find away to "solve" the issue without causing them to level up
one thing i think is that those who get powers thruogh eating the monsters in mangas is that they dont eat those who have too advanced adaptacions, think like someone tries to eat a peace of 682 and with him being immune to acid he can stay in your body and then learn to control it (this would go for anyone with adaptacions as a power) making him a more costant evolving beast who trough eating a dieing becomes more and more powerfull

Alcides is also not herc per se, but he does carry much and in most areas more than herc. Him using an avenger graph makes him absurdly overpowered like most servants that have one. Herc in life may have been stronger than alcides but as a servant all herc classes would be weaker than alcides except grand servant. In the comics the strongest version of Superman (it’s like his story fused with his bare essence put inside living metal?) is called the Thought Robot or Cosmic Armor. It can instantly adapt to be able to beat anything it fights. Its power is LITERALLY ‘I win’. In an infinitely small amount of time during its battle (it was made for the sole purpose of defeating Mandrakk, the ‘ultimate enemy’ who had similar abilities) they went from having the power of ‘a million suns’ to effortlessly one shotting a multiversal being to destroying every layer/dimension of DC down to the Overvoid (comic page) itself. In like a gazillionth of a second Thought Robot got nearly infinitely stronger through its adaptation.

Shout out to the tyranids from Warhammer 40k for being a prime example for this there scary not because they do this better. But because they are in numbers lots and lots of numbers
See this is what makes amazo stupid ,you literally get erased from existence by a more powerful version of yourself that means past presence and future you are dead ,so Amazo shouldn't have been able to come back from that ,but hey this is DC ,being consistent isn't thier thing ,also the original doomsday was killed permanently and sent to he!! So his adaptation failed him as he can no longer resurrect himself.
The funny thing about SCP 682. It has been killed by another SCP. It's phenomenon in another universe where everything dies. Like everything dies, for it to just die, means a lot.
So if someone adapts to a certain power, does their dimensionality increase too? Like being able to exist on a third dimension plane then to a fourth and so on?
The only way this beasts could "die" is by being comfronted by another, lets put Saitama a man with no cealing for strenght and Doomsday with infinte adaptability both would be blocked in an eternal fight one cannot kill the other while the other cannot damage the other

actually pretty interesting that a good portion of adaptation characters are beast-like even if they are intelligent
Mr.Beast
Well adaptation as a power is essentially the most primal, animalistic ability out there. The sheer will to survive and overcome any obstacle or stimulus.
@@BUR404 An exception to this would be Shirley from Timmy and Jimmy the Power Hour 3, who is more like a silly fool manchild like Patrick or Ed more than a beast.
By the way, I'm surprised you didn't mention Shirley when he can adapt to an attack even *before* you throw it!
Crawler from Worm, etc
Original 682, correct.
Cosmology 682... Good luck containing him.
Still, the SCP Verse is not as high in existence to me, to the real world and beyond.

Both 682 and amazo got erased and came back but the major difference is that the endless cycle of accelerated evolution in amazo's favor gave him the ability to one shot his enemy manipulating him, amazo 2 and evolving beyond. 682 rarely changes shape.

Because he doesn’t need to. His true form SCP-6820A is just messing with the foundation.
@@NASALunarLight still doesn't explain why SCP-682 can't develop an immunity to chlorhydric acid. It's the incarnation of the concept of "hate for life" with absolute adaptation, who will restructure reality for the purpose of being prejudicial to life, and yet it gets undermined by simple acid

I'm glad you aren't power scaling anymore and are ranking the abilities themselves
Mahoraga adapting in the middle of a dance off to hit the sickest moves unknown to man.
1:28 never forget how X-Men First Class Done Darwin Dirty !!!!
Bruh... Scp 682 could literally adapt to someone who adapts to its adaptation ability 💀
I wouldn't be surprised if it did that
Saitama has the most overpowered version of this. He doesn't adapt by getting hit. He adapts the instant you're in his presence.
The problem is that he doesn't have superior stats to Doomsday, Amazo and SCP 682

@@realize745 He has lower attavk potency and we don't know enought abouth hes growth potential to say,Saitama can supress dimensional axis by evolving like SCP-682

I think the only way to counter this ability is by figuring out what it does and doesnt count as an attack, like (If you heal the individual will the ability make it immune to healing?, Can they developt an adaptation that makes them weaker?, If they get teleported in away that doesnt cause any harm to them will they still adapt againts teleportation?) Figure out things like that and you should be able to find away to "solve" the issue without causing them to level up
That’s I like evolution,the power of adaption.
one thing i think is that those who get powers thruogh eating the monsters in mangas is that they dont eat those who have too advanced adaptacions, think like someone tries to eat a peace of 682 and with him being immune to acid he can stay in your body and then learn to control it (this would go for anyone with adaptacions as a power) making him a more costant evolving beast who trough eating a dieing becomes more and more powerfull
HERC being summoned in his worst class is the big thing
If hes summoned as something that allows him to retain his sanity it would be much WORSE
Look at alcides dawg (he doesnt have nine lives though)
Alcides with the mud and no god hand IS dog walking the Demi gods and divine beasts In Strange fake, dude needs to chill fr
Alcides has Nine Lives, he just doesn't have Godhand, which is the resurrection/adaptation ability his Berserker self has.
Alcides is also not herc per se, but he does carry much and in most areas more than herc. Him using an avenger graph makes him absurdly overpowered like most servants that have one. Herc in life may have been stronger than alcides but as a servant all herc classes would be weaker than alcides except grand servant. This is because the grail mud will always mess with a servant, making them something they are not

When they adapt to the adaptation of them adapting to the adaption of their adaptation….
That's the best way to stop adaptive characters, don't give them the chance.

So if someone adapts to a certain power, does their dimensionality increase too? Like being able to exist on a third dimension plane then to a fourth and so on?
The only way this beasts could "die" is by being comfronted by another, lets put Saitama a man with no cealing for strenght and Doomsday with infinte adaptability both would be blocked in an eternal fight one cannot kill the other while the other cannot damage the other
The doomsday one is a missconsaption

Im gonna be honest here, as much as i see 682 being a character that adapts to everything, don't you think that is a bit lame and boring? At least amazo and the others lost once or twice or multiple times, but 682? He got thrown in there and his soul everything else broken down. Boom he came back good as new.
His adaptation was temporary in the original story
