Brilliant, loved it as a child in Scotland and now live in Switzerland for 22 years. Going to make the neeps for on the side of a Swiss dish. A nice twist! And will gee the sauce a wee go sometime as I love it but never knew how tae make it, cheers and have a nice Xmas.
For nearly 25 years my wife and myself have enjoyed visiting Scotland...Haggis, neeps and tatties have become my comfort food. Just like meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn is my comfort foods here in the America. My preference is in the tower only because it's less effort to get goodness in each bite! However I'd eat it out of an ice cream cone if that's all there was😂❤😊
I just found a Cameron haggis in our local international grocers. Now I know how to serve it-- yahoo! It has been on my "bucket list" to try for the longest time!
Just came across your channel and fell in love! With the food and your accent! Haggis looks delicious and reminds me of our Polish Kiska, which I LOVE!
Happy new 2022, Cheryl! All the good wishes for you and the family, may all be well and joyful. I have a request, please. I am vegetarian, and I love the veggie haggis I eat when I go to Scotland. But I see people making veggie haggis without any fancy stuff, like no sheep’s stomach, comes out as a sort of ‘porridge’ with oats, lentils, vegetables and spices. If you have a recipe for veggie haggis in your repertoire, could you please make a video? Thank you for considering my request. I so hope you make the video. I’ll learn to make haggis myself and could then have it every day - imagine that!
That looks so delicious.... Damn how much I miss my Mums cooking. 🤭🤫We have to get folk to smuggle this and black pudding into the country when they return from Scotland. A wee bit risky 🤦🏴🇿🇦
Cold Is In,Canada Too Hun. Hope You,Feel Better Soon. xx. I've Never Had,Haggis Yet. It Looks Delicious. Almost Tho it Was,Blood Pudding 😍 . Txs For Sharing,Healing Hugs from Canada 😊
Hey Carmen :) Lovely to see you again....haggis is so so tasty! It is a bit like blood pudding....or we would call *black* pudding similar in flavour x
I've had haggis, and it may look like meatloaf, but it doesn't taste like it. Still, I think your point is well taken. There are many versions of haggis.
Hi Thomas, nice to see you. Yes it probably would sort out the cold....not that keen on whisky though! I don't mind a subtle hint of it in things but couldn't drink it :)
Silly question: How are your turnips so orange? Mine here in the states are white, and they stay white as they cook. I adore haggis, though, and have some here I plan on cooking with soon, and I'd love to give this a go.
At great risk of causing an argument, what you call 'turnip' is what we call 'swede' in the south of England. I love them mashed with carrots. What we call 'turnips' are those small root vegetables, slightly smaller than cricket balls, and coloured cream and pink. I like to torment my sister in law who is from Yorkshire and she seems to think that both types of vegetable are called 'turnips'!
I always heard that Robert Burns had a very simple recipe for whisky sauce: just whisky.
Probably Larry...makes sense :)
could be doing with coming home to these dinners every night great videos Mrs really helping me from burning the hoose doon lol
Lol Gary :) Thanks for watching

That looks really good. I need to boil my turnips and potatoes and mash them. I always cube them and bake them but I can see mashing them is nicer. 😀
I love your accent😊😊😊 this looks so yummmm💕💕💕

Looks braw!
You know, here in the states I'd say haggis resembles what we call meatloaf. Like meatloaf, you can juggle the ingredients any way you like.

Can't get haggis in Canada either. Cheryl, can you do a recipe to MAKE haggis?
Haggis tastes like haggis
So this is Mimir's favorite foods. Cool!
Looks good as always have a wee toddy with some of the whisky you know that will fix your cold
Hi Thomas, nice to see you. Yes it probably would sort out the cold....not that keen on whisky though! I don't mind a subtle hint of it in things but couldn't drink it :)
I'm a great believer in whisky as a remedy for colds and flu, and lately the coronavirus.
Of all the things that don't work, that's my favourite. 😉
@@MrMcCawber you should try the smws single cask malts "quality" different flavours from all areas
I heard that onion thrown in the fire coals goes well with Haggis while exploring my grandmother's father every Burns night. Any truth?
Would it be offensive to use gravy? My son won't go for whisky sauce
Pepercorn sauce is a nice substitute
Hi.. please what is haggis.....

The neeps we use would be called rutabaga in the US. Tend to be bigger and a different colour.
@@johnstumbler1406 That's what I've been using--but for some reason they just stay white or cream-colored.
steelerbear I got nothing then. :)
When Swede/Turnip/Rutabaga is out of season it can be quite bland and pale
Swede & turnip are two different things.
beautiful and actually pretty cheap meal x serve with oatcakes x
God of war is a cool game
Could be a allergie

They are. "Swede" is short for "Swedish turnip". They're turnips.
