    Great review. I can't wait until someone does a planner that has a month, week and the blank pages for a week and then repeat. The rabbit hole is deep!

      Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed. It's like you are reading my mind! That's one of the big reasons I want to design a planner - bundled planners are where my heart is. I'm hoping I can make it happen for 2025 in two sizes and add a third unicorn size the following year. It's gonna be a lot of work but hopefully I can make it happen and it can fill that void.

    The preorder runs from July 4 (8 a.m. CST) thru Sunday, July 30th. The cover colors are a pale apricot and a driftwood gray. They pair beautifully together!

    I did bullet journaling for several years before I realized I was happiest with structure that I didn’t have to provide. Congrats to Marisa for creating the perfect journal for herself, but I will have to pass. I’ve already pre-ordered a few Sterling Ink planners and I am just waiting until Aura Estelle x Annie Plans releases their 2024 pre-order. I will keep an eye on Night Owl though to see what else she may bring into the mix.

    Thank you for this review. I’m finally stepping away from hobonichi now that more planners are using TM paper. But what really grabbed my attention in the Night Owl 🦉 was the blank pages behind the monthly calendars 🗓️- I do my monthly finances/budgeting in my planner as well - and having this would mean they are right next to each other without creating a second monthly calendar on separates pages much further back

    Lol, listening to people in the planner community, I feel like I am the only person who likes and heavily uses those monthly calendars on the weekly pages. So it is like all these big companies are specifically catering to my (niche?) preferences.

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s funny 😆
      Actually I know a lot of people use them. They like to highlight them and see where they are at in the month. I work in a deadline driven, calendar focused job so I always know what day and week it is. But I also use and refer to my monthly spread regularly so that info is there and I don’t personally see the need to duplicate it. I know a lot underutilize their monthly and I wonder sometimes if they had to refer to it they’d use it more and would rely on it for their future planning and preplanning. But I understand some love the little calendar and so I just cover it. I will however not have one on the planners I’m creating because some don’t like it and it’s very easy to add with a sticker or stamp or pen - and that allows folks to put it there if they want or put it in a different spot too.
      Curious 🧐 what do you use it for?

    • @myepictbr6968
      @myepictbr6968 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustScribble For me, these little calendars are the best tool to manage my future availability. My weekly spread is my dashboard, the space where I do planning and time management, so my planner is usually (1) open; (2) on a weekly spread. I also consciously minimise reliance on any digital tools. The way my mind works, I slot future events in a mental monthly grid. So, I will not be able to tell you what is my availability for the 20th of July. But I know with absolute certainty what I am doing next Thursday. So, going back to the little calendars, if I am working in my planner (which is open on a weekly) and something comes up that I need to figure out my availability for the 20th of July, I just need to glance at the little calendar, see that it falls on a Thursday, and I am immediately able to make decisions and, you know, plan things without flipping pages back and forth, pulling out my phone, etc (and OMG do I hate interrupting my flow in order to flip pages, yes, even when I have page markers, or do any sort of digital planning stuff). So yeah, little calendars = super useful.

    Thank you for this review!!I ordered a 2024 EC Compact Vertical for my hubby's medical needs.I struggle with planners for one reason I am a lefty and it is extremely difficult for me personally to utilize the bottom space.It kills my hand and wrist writing down there due to how I write.For a second issue....a lot of planners have the notes/blank writing section on the right,so it isn't as functional when being a lefty.It can smear badly:(I do like the option for a bound book as it can be put in a nice cover to protect it from the elements and just overall looks nice.Ring, coil,etc bound are oftentimes more difficult as I write towards the binding instead of away from it.I wish planners such as this would come with a few options.....I personally have been using my A5 Cousin this year for everything....hubby, household,playing around with decor,etc.....I may have to try one of these at some point just due to the size difference for portability and to see if it is something I could make work for everything instead of having an overwhelming number of planners!!

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  ปีที่แล้ว

      My kiddo is left handed so I understand the struggles. The EC compact seems like a good option for your hubby's medical.
      A half year book.- like the Cousin Avec or SterlingInk CommonPlanner half year might be a better fit for being left handed than a full year. Just like this planner they are slimmer so there's less bump at the bottom making it easier to write.
      Have you looked at MakseLife? I think they are changing to a coil like EC for 2024 but their side bar in both their monthly and weekly are on the right instead of the left. They might be more comfortable as a result.

    • @lynnclemons5864
      @lynnclemons5864 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustScribble you definitely understand!! Actually I have had a Makselife planner and really enjoyed it!!I am excited to see what options for their covers this year.I haven't tried the Cousin Avec,but will be using the A6 Avec as soon as I finish this A6.For my journaling I ignore the dates and just use whichever book I want to as I just write the date on each entry.That way I don't limit myself for that!!There are so many options out there,and I have been impulsive in the past so this year I am going to really try to figure out what I absolutely need and want in a planner.That being said I don't know if I have tried a b6 planner so that might be a great size to trial!!!

  • @jessplansandwrites
    @jessplansandwrites ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for sharing this thorough planner review! I‘m fairly set on using a PaperTess Designs option for 2024. The Yearly Planner also has a layout where the weekly overview ends with a horizontal line. I kinda wish both Theresia and Marisa hadn‘t made those horizontal lines because not having them gives you more flexibility to either continue the timeline downwards, to section off daily tasks or to ignore the individual days and just write a horizontal task list. Then again, I believe the horizontal lines are fairly easy to ignore if the layout they give you is not exactly what you need. Love that the NightOwl journal has numbered pages throughout! I don’t use my main planner for dailies but just for collections, so I don’t need that many back pages, but I appreciate the option Marisa has made for people who burn through their back pages quickly. 💙

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PaperTess's planner is beautifully setup. I did a video on it recently and love that it's bundled. My main issue was the size of the monthly but it's suppose to be bigger in 2024 so I'm very tempted to get one as well.

    • @jessplansandwrites
      @jessplansandwrites ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustScribble The planner you reviewed was the B6 (Yearly Notebook) which actually wouldn't work for me as a planner because I need my weeklies in one place in order to to be able to reference them quickly/flip through them. I've got the vertical TN format, both as a bound book (Yearly Planner) and as a TN insert (Weekly Planner, vertical edition). (One thing I have to say is that Catherine's naming conventions are a LOT less ambiguous than Theresia's... 🙈😂) Going to start the TN insert soon, both as an on-the-go option for summer and to test if the layout works for me. 🥰 If it does, I will likely buy the dated Yearly Planner Day-Free (with less than 365 notes pages) for 2024.

    hey thankyou for sharing this planner with us especially when im all the way from Australia, it looks like a functional nice layed out design. im just a bit confused on whether to switch from my hobo cousin to b6 for next year 😁😄

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so welcome!
      I'm not a huge fan of the Hobo Cousin. Don't get me wrong - great planner system and I've used it in the past. But the color of the pages, the color on the pages and the wasted functional space bug me and distract me :P I will say - that if you take the Hobonchi Cousin and compare it to a B6 like the NightOwl or the CommonPlanner the monthly and weekly space isn't too different - just a column on each day and a few rows. And on the daily pages the actual functional space in the Cousin is almost the same size as it is in the B6 because the quotes and the date at the top take up so much margin. So in space to write they are actually quite comparable. But if you went from a Hobonichi Cousin to an A5 Sterling Ink or an A5 Wonderland 222 (all-in-one) you'd have way more space than you have now. So it kind of comes down to 1) do you need the same amount of writing space or want even more, 2) do you need it to be portable (B6 is much less of a brick to carryaround) and 3) do you have a preference in size for your writing comfort.
      Hope that helps some!

    Just stumbled across your review! It's the first I've heard of this 'brand'. And I SOOO hear you about the 'flow' of the pages!
    I think the ones that Planner Tess Designs has come out with are 'almost there'... But the shipping costs from Germany (I think ?) are KILLER 😮!!! Like you're almost buying a whole other planner! I did ask if any other option to ship was available and got 'radio silence'...
    This one's much more affordable, although I don't see anywhere to confirm the currency... That said, we 'of the North' still have to choke down the exchange rate... which does boost the cost too. ...Siiigh 😔
    Great review, BTW!

      Yes the PaperTess shipping is pricy. A few places in that area are. But I will say the current rate is less than it was. Buying with a friend can definitely help reduce that cost some to share postage.
      I think on the NightOwl the pricing is in USD since she’s based here and a small one woman shop but don’t know for sure.

    Another fantastic review. This is a really nice planner and I would consider it but the weekly being separated in sections and then not going down to the bottom of the page is what would stop me from getting this... I am a shift worker (2nd) so my day does not end until 11 pm. I would have to write/draw in the rest of the day and the way it is broke down doesn't work for me either. I know that I am the minority in that. Other then that, it is a great planner. I love all the extra pages and basically everything else. She did a great job.
    Oh and I am with you on the mini calendar. I know every planner comes with it, so I've basically accepted that is will take up the space. lol

      I completely understand how the columns ending could be a deal breaker with your schedule. For me, other than social gatherings, my days are pretty much done as far as appointments etc. by 9 so I can use the bottom for other things but would prefer it continued down for when I need it. I'll definitely share some ways I've been using it to help with ideas :)

    I agree the little number calendar is not useful and I hate having to put all my decorations there because it gives me a bulky lump. I am not looking forward the change of moving the numbers to the line spot in common planner either. My dream would be a horizontal in B6 like the weeks. I love that sterling ink has made the weeks and standard in horizontal, so I am holding out hope that she does a horizontal b6 too.

      There is the Papertess which is B6 and has a horizontal weekly view. There's also the Aura Estelle and Muji planners which are horitzontal but you'd need to pair with another notebook for dailies/collections. And I think Nolty and some other brands sell them as well.
