Another tip to save you constantly driving to the airport when you fail is to start a taxi mission and cancel it near a spawn point. If you crash close down the game and restart with the resume button. The game autosaves when you end the taxi mission so you can keep reloading right in the airport for practice
They should have added proper flying controls to the remaster at least. Rockstar really disappointed me. Why I need to follow complex tutorials like I am in a flight school when Rockstar could have fixed the dodo in the remaster.
The whole point was that the plane was dismantled by the feds so its missing its wings Thus the name "Dodo" and why you are rewarded with a prompt on how long you flown the aircraft for when you touch ground again.

Golden tip: if you can't fly a dodo plane and want to get to Portland Docks, just ride it instead of flying. I recommend it, much faster than when you learn to fly it.
OMG Thank you.. I finally flew from Shoreside Vale to Portland 49 seconds. I always tried your last version of tutorial flying on the PS2 version and I never understood it. Maybe I don't understand this version immediately but I actually went a distance and finished the Portland Export list from the beginning of the game.
Stop blaming Rockstar for these mistakes. It was a small studio called Grove Street Games having nothing to do with Rockstar just very disappointing R* let this studio have rights to it

Same here, whenever I let go of the accelerator it just slowly dive into the sea. It only took me about 4 minutes, I'm just mad I lost nearly an hour trying to figure it out.
When you realize the Dodo is actually just a retextured car which has the flying cars cheat enabled. A clever workaround, Rockstar, instead of designing an actual plane.

Grove Street Games actually had a chance to fix all flaws of trilogy They could make flying consistent for all games But no, let's only change sum textures and port it to Unreal mehhhhh And we end up with plane in game which is not ment to be flown...
Flying the Dodo is initially impossible to figure out but once you do it's legit one of the easiest vehicles to fly in the GTA series, Classic or Remastered
they simply lazzy and do not want to work! they would force us to buy their other games… shame. shame shame. here are we, the players, who would really use air vehicles (pluralis)! reopen upstate, make ghost town accessible, reradd buskers, nightstick… and let the player decide about the drawing distance ( disappearing cars, pedestrians!)
It doesn't matter if you hold it or not once you are in the air. The reason you fall is because of something else. If letting go of the button is an issue then keep holding it, no problem.

You shouldn't let others (including me) play the game for you. If you find flying the Dodo difficult then don't get the package. Get it later in the game. You would regret cheating later on.

I read 📚 a long time ⌛ ago, that Love's disappearance was going to be a mission originally, but because of the 9/11 events that happened the year that this game 🎮 came out, they had to change it to just a cutscene, it was going to have Claude crash a dodo 🦤 plane ✈ into the Donald Love building and before impact, he was supposed to jump out (possibly in a cutscene as there's no parachute in the game itself and he can't swim but he was supposed to land in the water and get out shortly after he landed) and it was going to be for a removed character named Darkel, but Rockstar apparently denied this.
The beauty of PC is that you can use whatever method you wish to play the game. If you use a keyboard that's completely fine, however in order to fly the Dodo you need to get yourself a controller like I said in the video.

@@Badinfos hey Badinfos, I've been told that you actually can fly on keyboard, mouse movements are responsible for dodoup and dododown. Was this the case?
It does work, you just need practice. Don't give up so quickly, it took me a year back in the day to learn how to fly well, you can do it faster since you have a guide. Good luck :)
Fun fact:Dodo was supposed to be used like a car but pepole found a way to fly it and pepole even use it on speedruns and then rockstar put an easily flyable plane in VC

Your lack of skill does not make the plane impossible to be flown. Keep trying and listen to the instructions carefully and you can do it too. The same way thousands of other people in the comment sections of this and the other (original GTA 3 version) video I made did. Good luck, don't give up!

The fact that you say "hold up on the stick" and the animation shows you pressing down makes this super confunsing. And why is LT your acceleration?

You can't use a keyboard in the definitive edition to fly, but you use the controller in a similar way. So yes and no.

It really does work I was able to get to the Portland after a few dozen tries but like you said it's still not easy.
It works the same on all Definitive Editions, no matter what console or PC you have.

No way, it's not supposed to use for flying from the start. I drove this Dodo as a car to the importing garage.
