Ima try and break it down for y’all. Dre first verse with the blurred faces the scene is based off of the Menendez murders out here in L.A. in the late 80s and cube and Dre last verse that’s suppose to be the oj Simpson murders with Ron and Nicole Simpson. That’s why everyone faces blurred out. They made it as to where Dre and cube are the murderers instead of the original killers. This was mad3 in 1994. Dre was on death row and they were suppose to make a joint album called helter skelter but it was never released but they did this song and it ended up being on the murder was the case soundtrack. But yea this song was the first song Dre and ice cube made together since their time with nwa so it was like a nwa reunion. This video also won video of the year at the infamous 1995 source awards. The director is Gary gray, who is from L.A. and did the nwa movie which is also why Tupac is in the video. He was coo with Gary and this was right before Tupac signed with death row, before he went to prison and suge bailed him out in 1995

Props for this breakdown. But how about we give Heltah Skeltah some play too. That Boot Camp Click era is forgotten and I hate that. In fact I'm gonna see if I can get some BCC in Spotify in the morning drive 😂❤

"It's like a deadly game of freeze tag, I touch you with the forty four mag and you're frozen inside a body bag." One of the sickest rhymes ever. Pretty sure Cube had to write that one.

This was a soundtrack single for the movie Murder Was the Case. It was meant to be wild and creepy. Eastwood in the comments broke it down in terms of the imagery. By the way, the coldest line in this song is, "So fuck Charlie Manson. I snatch him out of his truck, hit 'em with a brick, and I'm dancing," which referenced the 1992 riots when a big rig truck driver, Reginald Denny, was driving his truck through South Central, got surrounded, pulled out of his truck, and hit with a brick. He suffered brain damage and was never the same again.

Nothing touches the 90's for truly memorable hip hop videos and short films like this. Never got as good ever again. This short film was Directed by F. Gary Gray who went on to direct feature films "Friday", "Set It Off", "Men In Black: International", "The Italian Job", "Straight Outta Compton" & "The Fate of the Furious". This short film was banned from MTV because they said there was "too much fire" and the video was "menacing", but, mostly b/c the "blurry parts" are of a supposed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, and the video implies OJ Simpson arrived after Cube and Dre had already murdered them and OJ was subsequently framed. Very sensitive topic in 1994. Also, this was supposed to be on the soundtrack for Oliver Stones film of the same name but didn't happen for contractual reasons. However, Stones film did include Dr Dre's "The Day the Niggaz Took Over" from the prison riot scene as well as Death Row sidekicks and Snoop side project Tha Dogg Pounds "What Would You Do". And finally, that 2pac cameo? Did ya catch it?

This was their first collab since their NWA days in the late 80s, so this was a very big deal for them to come back together. It lived up to the hype.

All the weird stuff you saw and heard in that song and video was specific to that era. So if you were there at the time you would understand. Like all the blurred out stuff was a reenactment of OJ Simpson killing his ex wife. This was made for the Natural Born Killers soundtrack but it was too “edgy”so they took it off

“I’ll snatch him out his truck, hit him with a brick and I’m dancin” refers to the LA Riots after four LAPD cops were acquitted for the brutal beating of Rodney King. It was a crazy time to live in LA.
