The price needs to come down. And it will, if production can be scaled up enough. If today's cheapest Lithium-based batteries cost around $100 per kWh, and super batteries cost 20 times that much, they're $2,000 per kWh. Of course, in the correct application, they're an excellent solution.
This is the best explanation of super capacitoir battery. Although the capacity has improved tremendously but it always lags behind lithium battery but it serves much better in application when charging and discharging speed is crucial. The combination application of both is very interesting. Thank you!
Thank you for the chat with Dr Pohlmann, very interesting. Ultra-thin supercaps made by Cap-XX, Australia are also worth looking at for charging small devices; energy harvesting and IOT markets.
In my book an ultracapcitor is built like an ordinary capacitor but it uses an insulator with a huge (or giant) dielectric constant. Supercapacitors make use of the electrochemical double layer, as stated in the video.
Thank you so much for the talk, Dr. Pohlmann!

Thank you for bringing this topic not so well known even inside the battery industry. Keep bringing interesting people and their work to your podcast!
Thank you! Will do!

Can we use Ultracapacitors/Supercaps in parallel with super batteries of Skeleton?
PLEASE ANALISE OPORTUNITY TO USE YOUR SUPERCAPACITOR FOR VTOL IT IS AN GIANT OPORTUNITY

Mega Like !! Thank you for this video. Very interesting and learned alot. I'm very interested in this superbattery tech. Sounds right up my alley 😁
Is it just a Hybrid Capacitor? Kind of an odd voltage range, if so...
I'm an EE familiar with design pitfalls of supercapacitors starting ~20yrs ago for applications requiring (active) discharge time
