Because it feels like a real relationship where someone cares for them, loves them and also is attractive. It's too much and it's designed that way. I don't stan any group because of it. I listen and appreciate the music and the videos, but I've never bought anything related and very rarely watch the shows they're all on. They're artists. Not people I know, not people I really want to pretend that I know. In short; Don't blame the fans. Blame the Kpop machine. It's unfair to everyone but the people who make money directly off of it. It's not even fair to the stars themselves who are often in danger, trained to be exceedingly careful about what they say or do and have to be filtered all the time and not real people, but a pretty package to be bought and sold and also usually under horrific contracts and have been basically in child labor desperately trying to make it in a cut throat industry. I love a lot of Kpop groups and music and the aesthetic, but the industry is absolutely abysmal, even for the points that have made it better over the years, it's still really freaking bad.

But the groups are cutthroat practicing day-in n day-out, their routines for concert. If the group tries to speak up, gone. Corps basically have full control over their whole life. One went out with a guy? Ruins the entire fantasy for the fans. It’s dystopian af. They make a fantasy to sell, and it can’t be broken or the group will likely be disbanded. Look up the history behind some of the older groups if you want a glimpse. Mainly 4-minute, 2NE1 and Big Bang are the ones I know had some stuff go to surface. I know nothing of J-pop so I can’t comment on that. Only that it seems eerily similar, I wouldn’t be surprised if the system was the same.

That is one anecdotal experience not the usual but there is plenty of examples of immigrants coming from a destitute country and making it big by working hard and "pulling up their bootstraps". I lost two dogs this year, one to stomach cancer and the other to old age. My grandma has blood clots in her lungs due to being treated poorly by the staff at her nursing home (they kept changing her medication). And health wise I have gallstones and have been waiting over half a year for surgery while getting sicker and sicker. So yeah, this year hasn't been the best.

This has shown to be a pretty safe space for anti-capitalist sentiment, so I'll just say what I've been thinking for a while now.
The "hawk tuah" girl is the perfect example of why capitalism doesn't work as advertised. There was no boot-strap pulling, there were no 15 grueling years working on grandpapies farm which would eventually lead to her gaining ownership of the family business.
She drunkenly waddled up to a random street interviewers microphone, slurred out a mediocre sex joke, and practically woke up the next day a multimillionaire.

I do agree with your criticism of the hawk tuah girl however I struggle to understand your position on capitalism. the biggest reason I can’t get behind that idea is simply because most of the alternatives have already been lived through multiple times and it’s shown to have disastrous qualities. Now capitalism is not by any means perfect I will fully agree to that and we do have problems related to it but I do have to say we enjoy a lot more freedoms then most do because of capitalism. Id love for you to elaborate your point so I can understand better and hopefully become alittle more informed from the other side. Thank you!
That is one anecdotal experience not the usual but there is plenty of examples of immigrants coming from a destitute country and making it big by working hard and "pulling up their bootstraps". Capitalism isn't perfect but people that come from countries like that have to drop their entire life and rebuild elsewhere so its not a popular sentiment amongst immigrants bc they came from those disgusting shit pits and they know their life is better now and the don't want that cancer to infest the country they've made their new home in

I lost two dogs this year, one to stomach cancer and the other to old age. My grandma has blood clots in her lungs due to being treated poorly by the staff at her nursing home (they kept changing her medication). And health wise I have gallstones and have been waiting over half a year for surgery while getting sicker and sicker. So yeah, this year hasn't been the best.
