Interesting. I thought all planchets were supplied by outside vendors. I wonder if gold, silver, and palladium planchets are also made at the Mint. I laughed when it looked as though the worker stood way back to "inspect" the coins. LOL.
They do spot checks. It's literally impossible for a person to visually inspect every single coin. That would be like asking the guy that mows your lawn to visually inspect every single blade of grass in your yard. I think the mint has cameras that check for quality as well.
How about game pieces like dungeons and dragons coins to be collected dead presidents get boring or add to back side of dead presidents will stir up new interest in coin collecting
Why hasn't the mint produce coins with most liked weapons like aircraft carriers and tanks helicopters to stir interest for young high tech minds to collect and especially the new space force battle ships planned for space
Thank you for the tour!
Beautiful
Thanks for sharing! Are there any videos that show how they are rolled up or packaged? Thanks
Very insightful.

He was just the releaser, machine does the inspecting.

Thank you for this!! Cool insightful to the process of creating a coin from someone who works in the stamping industry. Very cool.
Do you still have the enclosed catwalk tours at Philadelphia?
Yes, the in-person self-guided tour is still available in Philadelphia.
I did that back in 2000 😮
So clean looking, but I bet that it is noisy.
