  • This is a video of a Briggs & Stratton Raptor 3 race engine that was in a shed for 21 years, it was on a old hand built yard kart and the gas tank, carburetor and intake port had water in them, so the engine was completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected and measured. This is a model 135230, Kool bore engine. The following OEM Briggs & Stratton parts were installed: 298982 - Rings / 261044 - Intake valve / 692180 - valve springs / 692194 - Valve retainer / 555061 - Valve lifter / 791781 - Breather / 555050 - Bearing / 555210 - Gasket set.
    The carburetor is a new predator carb with #.018 low speed jet and #.035 main jet and stock E-tube on a custom built intake, the exhaust is a long pipe two stage header.
    The following are some measurements: Bore = 2.5625" / Piston = 2.5580" / crank journal = 0.998" / Rod journal = 0.999" / Rod pin = 0.4895" / exhaust valve stem = 0.247"

    I remember buying one of these new in '97 or '98. I ran it for 1 summer then had to move. Sadly it was left in a garage in Phoenix and probably ended up in a yard sale or something. It ran great though, good memories.

    I built and raced model 130232, and 130202 Briggs (stock lite, and stock appearing) late 80s early 90s had tons of fun. Margay chassis first then a bugg. I don't think any of the tracks are still operating now in this area

    Is that a fuel pump system???? Please provide details and if you have a video on it, I would love to see it.

    Try a PZ20 Mikuni style carb. You won't have to mess with any throttle linkage.

    I have a raptor briggs from when I used to race go karts as a kid. It was rebuilt and refreshed and is sitting in my parents basement all taped up and sealed. It is set up for methanol. You think it would be worth selling or converting to gas and sticking in a mini bike or something?

    Where did you buy your intake manifold from? Or did you weld up your own

      RCF, I built / welded this manifold, it took three attempts, but it worked out well.

    Might try to find me one of these for my bicycle. Are these engines cheap/easy to find and work on? I'm sort of new to this stuff, so any information would be greatly appreciated. Hope you like the engine

      A stock Briggs is cheap and all of these are stupid easy to work on! These raptor engines and racing engines though can get a bit pricey!

    Looks like s stock engine with a raptor racing sticker on her. So pretty much its just a stock briggs .you could even over rev that thing or it will blow up .no bullet rod or flywheel and stock cam and doesnt even have the roller bearings in block lol this engin isnt racing .it just has the sticker for good looks

    • @robertanderson635
      @robertanderson635  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Brett, I think you need to look closer at the engine, if you are at all familiar with what makes a Raptor motor a “Raptor” then there is NO doubt this motor is in FACT a Briggs Raptor engine, and the sticker has nothing to do with it.

      Some of the first Raptors were in fact single Pto Bearing and Kool Bore so I would say it's a Raptor.
